Levy, I largely blame you for what I have become. XD Six weeks ago, I absolutely hated playing chess! I did not know how to play properly...I did not even know how to set up the board correctly. My husband LOVES chess, so I decided to secretly teach myself how to play in order to become as good as I could so I could play him on his birthday and actually give him some sort of a challenge. Well, today is his birthday! We had our game earlier today. He is a very solid 1300, and I was winning by a lot for most of the game until I made two costly mistakes, then I resigned. It was so great to see his reaction to my plays. A couple of times he said, "Wow .....what?" After my resignation, I confessed to him this secret that I had been keeping for 6 weeks; reading chess books, playing online, playing people in person, and watching your videos pretty much every day. He said that I definitely played that game at a 1200 level. He is so excited to now have another opponent. Thank you so much for the awesome content that you put out. You helped ignite a passion in me for chess, and I plan on continuing to improve while giving you some sweet ad revenue in exchange for your golden knowledge.
@@maxspechter4321 He is such a wonderful husband. I really loved being able to do this for him. It definitely helped that I actually ended up enjoying the process too!
Ding has just become a master of exchange sac. Like Tigran Petrosian.I saw this man to sac his rook so many times that his rooks can be labeled as Kamikaze Rook.
This video was actually surprisingly educational. Like, I enjoy most of your content but the quality of how much you learn in each game varies drastically. 1:54, 14:00 are both good moments where I legitimately learned something. I'm about 1,400 and don't know pants about any openings. Learning common themes and ideas is so nice from videos like this, Levy's opening knowledge is honestly great. Naroditsky has consistently said that Levy's openings are at a GM level and you really see that in videos like this
Yo the number of videos with stockfish and Magnus in the title is astonishing 😂 Edit: You did my comment dirty by changing the title🤣 *The Truth will not be Hidden*
Great video! I would prefer if you stopped saying that a position is the player’s “best in the game” because that kind of spoils that they do not win the game. Good content, keep it up!
I love playing the Zukertort/Reti and basing the game on countering how my opponents react to it. It's cool to see Magnus tinkering around with this opening and I hope he continues to give us 1. Nf3 players more ideas to try.
Your videos are like the MCU. Every one of them has its own story (the chess games) and as a whole, they tell a greater story (Benji's life). People need to chill about the dog hate.
Lol, I got the notification 40 minutes ago with the title "Magnus STOCKFISH Gambit" and now when I have time to watch the video the title has already changed.
"Bonkers!!" Ding with the mental fortitude and chops to beat Magnus. Pragg pushes Anish out in blitz. Tough match-up for Pragg - Ding looks tough as nails right now. Thanks for the recaps!!
I think it wouldnt be much easier or harder than regular guess the elo. But most subscribers are much lower rated then Levy so it would be one sided. Not as crazy games with pieces hanging for many turns :D
“Maybe he’s gonna walk his king to a2 idk I haven’t seen the game…no way he actually does it” 😂😂😂 the delivery on that was awesome, had me cracking up out loud
Ding Liren / Magnus Carlsen needs to be the next Kasparov / Karpov rivalry. Ding is the only one that can play against that stockfish like gamestyle of Carlsen by playing incredible ideas himself (playing c5 and f4 to ruin the potential of his own pieces to make black lack of space / the rooks absurdely placed on the b file, like if I do that my rooks get trapped / and sacrificing the rook to break the forteress of Carlsen). That was like AlphaZero against Stockfish, the moves don't make any sense but they work.
As a Chinese guy I gotta give props to Ding, same way Indian people are proud of Pragg and Vishy. Every time he plays he brings us something beautiful. Such a pleasure to watch him playing against Magnus. Also great recap! Huge love from China :)
Man, I can't wait to see Ding play classical in the candidates. Really hope that he wins and gets to challenge Magnus, would be very interesting to see what would come out of those matches
As much as I love and appreciate these recaps, I have one request: try to avoid saying stuff like “this was magnus’ biggest advantage of the game” because it gives away the outcome (or at least narrows the possibilities). One of the reason i’ve grown to love recaps is the suspense and the fact I don’t know who is going to win each game. Thanks and much love Levy!
Gotham youre saying you dont like the reti for low rated players. But i think its one of the best for low rated players. Because almost everyone plays the ruy lopez on low levels. so if you play reti you can switch to play the kings indian attack and people dont know what to do. I just stay solid and wait till my opponents make mistakes and than i take advantage of that. I went from 1200 to 1400 in just 2 months because i switched to reti. I recommend people to start playing the reti! If anyone disagrees please tell me why. 😁
At 1400 youre already at the borderline of NOT being a lower rated player. Id say 1500 and up you can already play any classical opening you want because you understand the basic gameplans. Me personally, when i was under a 1000, i consistently lost inopenings like the reti just like levy said because i had basically one or two gameplans and when the opponent didn't go for that, I was super lost. Had to switch over to simpler stuff like the London and Italian with a simple game plan until I gained a bit more experience. However, even if one's lower rated, if they studied various reti opening gameplans and lots of games where the reti was played, im sure its a perfectly playable opening but still more difficult than something like the london for beginners.
Both are amazing players, no matter how good you are you can always be bested by someone with more determination. I hope it starts a fire in everyone to make more amazing games.

Goth, will you be doing vids of some exotic/lesser-known super GMs such as Wei Yi? Charting his rise to 2700s, period of stagnancy and why, and *comeback* - What do you think?
Ding Liren might be the only super GM to make Magnus unable to move any of his pieces forward, the guy is crazy strong. Hope he does well in the Candidates to face Magnus and give us an exciting World Championship match.
The funny thing with these Levy “viewer engagement” titles is that Levy tries to justify them during the vid, no matter how obviously clickbaity they are. Man, Pragg playing in a top level tournament and beating the top players, while he has exams, is pretty savage.
That extra pressure caused his third eye to open showing the game in 4d
Those exams are in background or he just take a pass from the teacher. Very high probability he dedicates his time to chess only
