- This early silent era film also known as "La Grenouille" in France was released in 1908 and directed/created by Segundo De Chomon. It follows a magical frog and a young woman whom upon climbing unto a fountain rock turns into a large frog, two very strange heads. then she reappears with several other people draped in gowns, flowers and eventually on horses. A rather unusual film for the era.
Segundo Víctor Aurelio Chomón y Ruiz (17 October 1871, Teruel, Aragon - 2 May 1929) was a pioneering Spanish film director. He produced many short films in France while working for Pathé Frères and has been compared to Georges Méliès, due to his frequent camera tricks and optical illusions. - Фільми й анімація

Here is my analysis:
The frog and lady become friends and then start going on an adventure. He accidentally loses her and starts wandering off on his own. He meets a crazy old hermit twice on his journey. Eventually, the frog finds the lady being treated like a queen. He tried to get closer to his friend, but she was surrounded by friends the frog never met before, so instead he just left. At the end, she gave up that kind of living just to be with her frog friend.

@@foxopossum I just thought it up while watching really. I noticed that the frog was alone for a while, but he saw all that crazy stuff only when he was alone, so I assumed he was lost. Then when he finally saw her again, he wasn't able to get close to her, so he just left. And then you see them meet back up at the end

the ''everybody is dead'' comment is exhasperating me. every silent film i watch people say that same thing. is it scary to see dead actors? never watched an old film before? c'mon!
perhaps that question is less evident on relatively recent films, but obvious on silent ones.

We were all the same thing as being dead when they filmed this.
The frog live for the applause
The color would have been added to each print on each frame of the film, by hand, at the time the film was first released.
Hand tinted. You don't often find films with the hand tinting but they actually did that frame by frame by hand. The Napoleon silent movie had that tinting.
This is really not the kind of video i watch on youtube, but i am sincerely happy that i came across this wonderful piece of artistic history. Many thanks.
