Meena (Mala Sinha) and Mahesh (Rajendra Kumar) are madly in love with each other. One day, both of them get carried away and Meena becomes pregnant. On the other hand, Mahesh marries Malti Rai (Nanda), who belongs to a good family. Meena gives birth to a little boy and takes the baby to his father, Mahesh Kapoor. Mahesh disowns both of them, saying that it was his mistake.
Meena leaves the five-month-old baby boy in a dark forest, where a snake guards his life. On the way back from the city, Abdul Rasheed (Manmohan Krishna) sees the child and protects him. Abdul also gets disowned by society because the baby is illegitimate and nobody knows about the parents and religion. In spite of all the odds, Abdul fights with the entire society and raises the child wholeheartedly

तीन-चार दशक पुरानी यह फिल्म है इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं लेकिन लोगों की मानसिकता तब और भी कठोर हुआ करती थी जायज नाजायज कहने में मगर समय जरूर बदला है मगर अभी भी संख्या में ऐसे लोग हैं जो इसी तरह की मानसिकता रखते हैं मगर मैं तो यही कहूंगा इंसान वही जो इंसानियत को पहचाने

अब्दुल चाचा ने दिल हीला दिया! और बेहतरीन संगीत.
जो इस फिल्म को देख कर हैपी इंडिंग समझा होगा उनमे और मुझमे फर्क है क्योकि मै इस फिल्म के इंड को हैपी इंडिंग नही समझता ।
मै कभी अब्दुल चाचा को नही छोडता अगर वहा मै होता ।
मै अच्छी पढाई , अच्छा खान पान और पहनावे सबको लात मार देता और पूरी उम्र अब्दुल चाचा की सेवा करता ।
फिल्म निर्माता ने फिल्म खत्म होते होते पता नही क्या सोच के ऐसा किया है जबकि ऐसा नही होना चाहिए था रोशन को अब्दुल चाचा मिलते ।
असली जरूरत बुढापे का सहारा उनके रोशन ही था ।
इन्सान को तालीम जरूरी है और तालीम मे भी तालीम ऐसी हो जिससे बच्चे मे नैतिक गुण , सहानुभूति दूसरे का सम्मान सबको बराबर समझना , जीव जन्तु पर्यावरण किसी को भी नुकसान नही सदा दीन दुखी गरीब के काम आना ये सब भी बच्चा सीख गया तो कुछ ना कुछ पेट भरने के लिए कमा लेगा । जो इन्सान हमे पाल पोश के बडा किया है उसको भी खिला लेगा अपने भी खा लेगा इसके लिए जरूरी नही की बडी डिग्री ही हो और बडी डिग्री लेकर आदमी चरित्रवान ही हो ऐसा भी जरूरी नही ।
अन्त मे मै यही कहना चाहुगा ये फिल्म पूरी तरह अन्दर से मुझे हिला रही पता नही कितने दिन बाद इसके दृश्य मेरे मन से गायब होंगे ।
इस फिल्म मे अब्दुल चाचा का किरदार उपर वाले से भी बढके है क्योकि उनको जो जिम्मेवारी मिली उन्होने पूरा निभाया मगर उपर वाले को तो सबका ध्यान रहता है फिर भी आए दिन ऐसी घटनाए हम देखते है और कहते है हे ईश्वर ये कैसे हो गया ये क्या कर दिया आपने ।
और इस गाने मे वो जो लाइन है " इन्सानो के लाशो के कफन बेचने वाले "
अगर मै गलत नही तो ये उस कफन की बात हो रही जो लाश पे चढे हुए होते है और अन्तिम क्रिया से पहले वो भी वही फेक दिये जाते जिन्हे इन्सान ही ले जाकर फिर से बेच देते है ।
सोचिए आज धरती पे इन्सान से बुरा कोई नही है ।
बहुत अच्छी प्रशंसनीय दर्शनीय मूवी , अपने दौर में बड़ी कामयाबी हासिल की मक़बूल मशहूर हुई आज भी इस फिल्म की मक़बूलियत कायम है ..मैंने यह फिल्म आज से साठ साल पहले ,सन 1962 में देखी थी . धन्यवाद ।

Such a good movie. Seeing it again after a long time. Ashok Kumar ji's acting is superb. So natural. Mala Sinha ji, Rajender Kumar ji, Nanda ji , all are excellent in their roles. But Manmohan Krishna ji's acting stands above all. Mehmood ji's role was nothing in this movie which is very disappointing. Great songs and great storyline. B. R. Chopra ji has always addressed some social evils in his movie and he has done a great job in this film.
इस फिल्म ने मेरी आंखों में आंसू ला दिए। कमाल की अदाकारी, कलाकारी है। खास करके अब्दुल चाचा तो बहुत ही कमाल है । बेहतरीन फिल्म 😊

I am living my childhood all over again by viewing the iconic movies of the great golden decades of 1940s to 1960s. The greatest of artists but simplest of human beings, talents of Himalayan heights but humility of fruits laden trees, music was soul stirring nectar, nature was benevolent, vastness of open landscapes, present cities were almost like overgrown villages, poverty of money and materials but richness of hearts. It was heavens on earth both literally and metaphorically. But all has slipped away into sands of time; now it is desert like even amidst all the glitter and glamour outside. So dry and senseless.
