    I'm unashamedly a hydrapak snob. They have a 2Q unit in every pack I own. Empty it, flatten it, throw it in a bag, get through TSA, fill, fly. It's paid for itself just in airport water.

      Thanks for watching Scott! I admit I am a brand snob for many things but because I like good quality and once you find that you keep coming back.

    Great video! Those hydra packs are a must have for my Elk and Deer hunting trips. I’ve used a platypus back packing water bags in the past with a 50/50 success rate. By the way Awesome shirt!!!

      Hi Jason. I have to admit I have been impressed with the Hydrapak. Will probably try a few more of their products. Yes, I am a big Sig fan ......... a little surprised YT didn't flag me for wearing it

    Great video! The importance of water cannot be overlooked. For overlanding/camping I have been using the Sceptor jerrycans, a Life Saver jerrycan which has a filter and can be pressurized with built in hand pump and a Grayl GeoPress purifying bottle.

    • @WeekendOverland
      @WeekendOverland  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Curt. Thanks for your feedback. I have been seriously thinking about getting the Life Saver jerrycan not only for trips but also for general preparedness. The Grayl Geopress looks like a great idea as well.

    Thank you for all this info very good.... at the minute 5.16 you talk about the cap, is on the way when you use the jerry can water..... just put velcro top of the cap and one jerry can body or on the larger cap close to the vent

    For the sceptre 5ga, i use the Harbor Freight battery pump transfer unit. I just extended the hose from the pump into a gravity bag for katadyn high flow filter. Hydrapack also has a cap adapter and optional spiget and or mini shower head.

    For fuel just install a long range fuel tank. There are some good ones available in Australia

    Water port makes a cap so you can take off pump cap. I have the water port portable 2 gallon shower tank. I put a Metal Schrader valve in the solid replacement cap. No more pumping.

    Great video! New to the channel. Glad to hear You liked the Waterport product. As a family of five it was always car camping, Overlanding and backpacking I have been looking to upgrade our water system. I have been looking at the Waterport 8 gallon. Your video was very helpful. We subscribed!

    Thanks for the walkthrough! It seems for me that soft storage is the way to go. You can carry a couple of soft water bladders plus some extras and only fill what you need and keep the extras stored up. I like that they are lightweight and compact, can be hung from a roof rack, often have straps to carry them and can attach backcountry filters. Water is heavy enough so why wrap it in even more weight like a heavy and bulky Jerry can? If you need more you can always fill up the extras and through them in the back or strap them to a roof rack.
    Sea to Summit X and MSR Dromedary bags seem like great water bladder options too.

      @WeekendOverland  2 роки тому

      First thanks for watching and your feedback. I agree with you totally. I use the Hydrapak, shown in the video, quite often and as you mentioned, there are many great bladder solutions out there.

      I bought the MSR dromedary bag for its durability, but I stop using it because it tastes like plastic no matter how many times I washed it.

      Hi Uncle Fjester. Thanks for your response. I have been interested in the MSR Dromedary for a couple years and for what ever reason, I have not purchased one yet. I even took another look a couple weeks ago to make sure they were still available. Their durability appear to be simply amazing. Thanks again for your input. I think you just pushed me over the edge.

    04:50 stick the cap over the breather cap and it will stay put.

    I’ve slept out side in Idaho in -20 in a 4 season’s sleeping bag rated for 40 degrees. Slept in Alabama on an old closed bridge in the pouring down rain on the ground in an inch of water soaked to the bone. Shelter is a luxury not a necessity

    Is there any way to stop water from sloshing in a 6 gallon container?

    • @WeekendOverland
      @WeekendOverland  9 місяців тому

      Some containers include baffles to improve container stability while transporting. There are also baffle balls that can be placed inside the container. I have no experience with the baffle balls.
