"devices" = "Du weiß das" ("you know that"). The chorus goes: "Es tut mir leid, Pocahontas, ich hoffe Du weißt das" = "I am sorry, Pocahontas, I hope you know that" The song is about the break-up with an ex-girlfriend of Henning's, whose nickname was "Pocahontas" because she looked a bit like the Disney film character.
Great and sad break up song, this is the song that made them famous over here in Germany. Saw them live last year in Hannover, it was aaaawsome. They usually sing in German, only some of their covers are in English. Try "Ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen Proberaum Session" (I won't go out dancing tonight), another great song by them.
By not understanding the lyrics, don't worry. I love listening to turkish music although I only understand a few words (or sometimes short sentences). But if a song is good, you can FEEL the music. Music is an international language. Love from Germany ❤
The fact they pulled this off in German is incredible, henning singing in German is beautiful!

I really love their songs and your reactions to it. And I was part of the crowd there in Berlin. I would suggest you some of my favourites like --> "James" and the whole "Proberaum sessions" songs. BUt really cool are the concerts in Berlin or Köln, f.e. "Als ich ein Kind war" oder "Ich geh heut nicht mehr tanzen" / " Lass es kreisen" Greetings from Brandenburg/ Germany.
Yes- the “Proberaum” (rehearsal room) sessions are great! The collab with the band “parcels” with a cover of “can’t get you out of my head” is a real treat!
Hey guys, I so far didn't know the band actually plays English songs 🙃.
I can confirm that the song is about a love relationship at its end between the lyrical self and "Pocahontas", who seems to be, as put forward by earlier comments, either a nickname of the woman he has broken up with/is breaking up with or someone who simply has some traits or an outer apperance that reminds him of the (fictional) character.
Among other things, he is bemoaning still seeing each other at times after having broken up, stuff of the other person still lying around your place, reminding you of the failed relationship etc.
Generally it is a fairly classical break up song, albeit with superb German lyrics that uses a large amount and cleverly chosen kind of different devices to convey the overall message,such as repetition, witty rhymes combined with elipisis etc.
That's true, I've only really seen them play English covers, but I'm not sure if they did anything live other than Valerie. Thanks for the information and your take on this performance. We're pretty smitten with this band!
@@Killermcknight Cool, definitely something I need to look into. By the way, "Barfuß am Klavier" to me is even superior in regards to the use of the German language. It possiblyis all the same to you 🙂. And it's way more "ballady"

AMK sings here in German, the song is about a recently ended relationship, Pocahontas is probably his ex-girlfriend's nickname
