I would probably also be too scared to talk to you if I ever saw you because you re just such an inspiration and a killer-Runner but would annoy my boyfriend by telling him about 100 times that I saw you 😃
It was so much fun to watch that signature Allie O finishing kick. I agree with your Strava comment about starting your kick sooner because those two ladies were in your sights and you would have easily passed them. You looked extraordinarily strong, as usual. Ninth is very respectable. FWIW, your sub-54 time translates to a 2:30 road marathon. Just saying. Great job, Allie.
The word Mississippi comes from the French rendering of the Anishinaabe name for the river, Misi-ziibi which means Great River. the Anishinaabe are from the Midwest so the name is appropriate for a river that starts in Minnesota and ends in Mississippi/Louisiana 🙂
The race that literally ages you by 19 years. Still first in age category one for the record books. Hooe the final goes well, I think the ten miler was a good idea. I'd say some downtime in boulder or at least more settled time will be good for you after that. Keep the head up whatever happens in the race, hope after its over you "enjoyed" it.
With only a 1:30 spread between you and the winner and the way you closed, I have no doubt you can be a big threat to win this race and other road races if you focused your training on road racing. Great job, Allie!
We're not lost, we're just confused - I like the positive mindset! 😂I'm glad you and Spencer had a good time, I like your attitude of treating this as a "bonus race" given it was completely outside of your recent running experience, and all the positive vibes and best of luck for the upcoming World Championship! 🎉Also your new 10 MILE PB is just slightly faster than my own 10km PB, lol!
I thought my wife was fast for 44… you’re killing it at 46! Congrats on the great race. I wish we had 5 and 10 mile races here in Canada. Pretty much just 5k, 10k, half marathon and full marathon. Distances just keep doubling!
All seriousness, you're doing great! Love the variety of competitions you're doing and doing them well. You share your emotions, expectations, disappointments...making it relatable!
The first mile was “only” a 5:24 lol. I love that you are so good at your sport, and I love supporting you, but I had such a giggle at our different levels. Ps. Hugs for Georgie as always!
Great great result Allie O! 10 miles is a ways and it is hard in the road races as you definitely can be caught in between groups/individuals. 90 secs off Notosha R. Is such an amazing result as you are building with new coach and learning a ton . . . I’m so proud of your effort all season and super stoked for you in this next quad cycle headed towards LA! Regardless of how things go you are so incredible and do inspiring! Go Allie Go!
I live just a couple of hundred miles away from the Twin Cities and have yet to run this race. It is a runner's favorite where I live and have heard nothing but good things about it. Great job, Allie!
I was so impressed with how close you were to Mercy Chlanga (olmpian).I think 10 miles is your best race.I just love watching you compete. You continually impress m me with your versatility in all events.❤
One of the best part of these videos is the one in the plane where you show your current book during long travels. Sometimes, I pause the video and look for that book :)
Omg! I am fan girling right now! I am from Minnesota and just ran my first 50k on Saturday the 5th. I hope you enjoyed Minnesota. Congratulations! Cannot wait to see how your next race goes. Your killing it. God bless.
i cannot wait to watch you race something like this again! you are CRUSHING IT. as you were prepping for this, i knew youd do great. what a nice break from the trails! thanks for inspiring all of us as per usual
I was watching at mile 9ish and saw you run by and just reflexively recognized you and cheered - you looked great! Congratulations, and I hope you enjoyed the beautiful course!
Georgie! I’ve seen the headwaters of the Mississippi River, which is Lake Itaska. You can literally walk across it if you don’t mind getting your shoes wet. Great job on your race! Top 10, and seconds from 7th, doesn’t suck! You rock Allie!
Everytime I go out to eat, there is always something wrong 😂😂 I can relate to the catastrophe that Spencer always thinks up of in his head because something always happens
the 10 mile is nice. I did the marathon that day. Gorgeous course, lots of people, pretty well run evenif their was a GU shortage. Glad the wind didn't hinder my performance.
Alli! Congratulations for your race! I have a topic that I would like for you to go in detail: races and pooping haha I really need advice on how to handle this situations. either on the woods and road, I believe your an expert in the matter and I love your honesty
i love ur morning expressions i feel the exact same tryna get up for class but i think u were awake many hours before i was for that race haha happy 46th birthday!
Oh My Gosh, You Beat Spencer "To The Punch" by getting your next video out before he did! I was waiting for both of you to post, because I knew you would both be racing! I'll go ahead and watch the video now....
Great kick. Sounds like your start could be faster as you are in the best shape of your life . Have you ever thought of the marathon. It seems like training for marathon and Trail running might be compatible
I literally fell on my shakeout for this exact race 2 days before the race. Guess my body was shaking out all the bad vibes before race day cuz I also hit a PR after all!
Way to go, Allie. I was thinking 5:30s was probably a pretty good goal --esp with your sounding so unsure of yourself going in-- and you crushed it. Sure, too bad you went too late to catch the two gals ahead, but a really solid performance. Also, you look *great* for 46.
You look great for 46! I don't think you look a day over 27. I was very confused when looking at early results and you were not listed in the 25-29 F category! Great job once again Allie! I'm guessing all those ass clowns that had nasty comments regarding your weight and/or body shape and about your incredible accomplishment of making the turn to healthier mindset and eating after ED treatment have crawled back into the woodwork after this season of incredible performances from the track to the trails to the roads! Keep thriving and ignore the haters - you've got an incredible support of loyal followers that love your story and how you tell it 'all' with amazing authenticity.
That's a strong finish! I must say that you look amazingly incredible for being 46! I think you just set a master's record! I don't know when they started the race, but couldn't they do it around 10 am, so people don't have to wake up at 3:45 with all of the pep and alertness of a zombie? You ran a very smart race, and a very good race. Although I was off by a minute and change of my predicted time for you, you have been doing long mountain runs, with literal miles and miles of uphill that don't really loosen up your quads for fast turnover. Had you been training for this, as opposed to running up Mt. Everest, you would have been even faster. Years ago I did 10 miles with about 1/2 of it uphill, not huge, but you feel it, and I ran 7:53 pace, which translates to you beating me by the time it would take for you to order and consume 3 beers and have some lunch! However, all of my running has been done with 40% less heart function, so if that hadn't happened, I would still be at least 1 beer and half a sandwich behind you! However, what you have done has made you really, really, really strong. Excellent, excellent run, and again, who knew 46 could look so young!
great run allie, do you feel the bicarb makes you stronger? theres a reason its been banned in horse racing for decades..it wont make you hit faster speeds but you will be able to hold speed for longer and have a better kick at the end
I get stomach cramps ALL the time so I'll have to try Spencer's form lol After all, he still ran super fast, I usually have to stop completely and walk when they're bad
Excited to watch Can I be cheeky and ask if you are hill intervals on treadmill what incline would you opt for and speed per k . Ok ok let the watching commence
...I'm temporarily stopped at 7:19 into the video where you are showing a quick image of the race results, and it shows your age is 46, but I think that cannot be correct....
Nice work, Allie! It looks like Clayton Young and Conner Mantz were at the start of your race. Did you get a chance to talk with them about the Olympics?
Hey Allie. When you said that Spencer had cramps, do you mean he had what we call in Australia, side stitches, or just a stitch, in your side? And yes, they really suck. They can really really hurt.
I made a video about cross country tips a couple years back! My main advice would be to lean into competing and using your race instincts though...time doesn't matter in cross!
I don’t think anyone has ever had a more diverse season of competition ever 😅
I saw you there! You killed it! I was handing out medals at the finish😅 you walked passed me but I was too scared to talk to you haha
hahaha next time say hi!!
@@allie_ostrander haha will do!

You are great! I'm a 60+ yr old dude, former Olympic runner that has had a lot of physical and mental issues since 1984. You inspire me.
What's your name?

I saw you both at mile ~4.5 (water stop, Lake Street Bridge up ahead, old guy screaming his lungs out) !!
Come back again next year!!
ah yesssss thank you for cheering!
"Not crazy fast" as the Insta is cranking up to sub 4 miles...
Kudos for the range this year Allie. It's not easy targeting such different events.

Awesome race! The amount of variance in your running is crazy. Track, trails, XC, road. You do it all! Half marathon next?
