  • Silver plated version of the thundercats sword. The blade is hardened, tempered, and sharpened 1075 high carbon steel. The hilt is silver plated bronze. The wood grip core is epoxied to the tang of the blade and the inside of the bronze grip. The pommel is hot peened to the tang.

    This is the closest I have ever seen anyone get to a screen accurate sword of omens, not even tony swatton from early man at arms videos could produce better than what you made here. I can never thank you enough for doing honor to the actual design of perhaps one of the most beautiful sword designs I've ever seen. Thank you

      Thank you, glad you like it. I've done a version with the little triangular pieces in the fuller at the end of the guard as well, but there is no video (since it's mostly the same as this one).

      @@brotherbanzai I would personally love to see a version of the short sword, I think I am probably far from alone on that as well. I always thought the closed eye of thundera would look with the eye done in copper, and the iris itself in brass

    The Sword of Omens, is the most majestic sword ever designed! Thank you for bringing this sword to life. I look forward to ordering both castings of this version, in the near future.

    one thing i can appreciate is DETAIL, refinement in making it look like a real sword while keeping the feel of the ones they are based in, and of course having the full quality of one. i gotta say this is quality, you have my admiration!

    I agree, the silver really looks good for this particular design. I sent it off to be silver plated, cost about $350. Gold probably wouldn't look a whole lot different than polished bronze, bet it would be pretty pricey though given the current cost of gold.

    Depends entirely on what you want, what you know, and how much time you have to put into it. Search for "paint can forge" to see how it can be done small and cheap, on up to thousands and thousands.

    I don't teach at this time. I started working with bronze around 12 years ago and steel about 5 or 6 years ago. I learned how to work with bronze by working at a bronze foundry for several years and doing a lot of research on my own. I learned how to make blades by reading and research.

    Thank you. The coolest thing about the Kurgan sword was the way it could be disassembled. Unfortunately there isn't currently any way to replicate that on a functional sword.

    My opinion on craftsmanship only goes as far as finding Inhibitor Ore and Sacred Wood on Tales of Symphonia to create a Key Crest for a Cruxis Crystal (ikr), but thats craftsmanship is outstanding. Your skill is what we pray for when we order cosplay items from Amazon.

    This is, without a doubt, the most precisely accurate real-life forgery of the Sword of Omens that I have ever seen, and probably the most detailed, accurate and simply best version currently in the whole world.
    The only way to really describe how accurate this forgery is to source material is that it 'is' the Sword of Omens - thats how accurate it is.
    You are the most incredible blade forger I have ever seen on the internet. I only wish I could afford to commission you for one myself, if i had the money I would order one from you immediately.
    Congratulations for this absolutely phenomenal piece of craftmanship.

    • @brotherbanzai
      @brotherbanzai  7 років тому +1

      Thank you very much.
      ps, a hammered piece of steel is a forging or forged whatever, a forgery is something else entirely.

      brotherbanzai you are absolutely right - I only just realised I accidentally used the word forgery (meaning a fake replica) instead of the correct terminology. Thank you for pointing it out.
      When I have the money, I will definately be ordering this Sword of Omens from you.

      Are you familiar with the manatarms channel? He does some pretty impressive work by a non blacksmith's perspective, but as an artist craftsman, and blacksmith, I think you're a bit superior even though there are obvious that would make the argument unfair. I mean, he's got a team of three maybe five other people to help him, so yeah. If you did as many projects as him, there'd be no contest.

    • @brotherbanzai
      @brotherbanzai  10 років тому

      adoboawesome I've seen his stuff, he does very nice work. Though making swords for movies is a bit different than making them for use or as art objects. He has to be fast and efficient while long term durability isn't necessarily the highest concern.
