I’ve been learning American Sign Language for about ten years and outside of Christ it is my favorite thing in the world. I think sign is God’s greatest gift to man save for His own precious blood. I’m to a point with it now that I can translate things in my head fairly easily. I know how the grammar basically works, I know what signs correspond to what words, and I understand a lot of cultural stuff. However, I’ve found that I’m at a point now where what I need is to actually think in the language, to go from the concept to the sign instead of from the concept to the English word to the sign. It’s very challenging for any language but especially in my case since there is no “Deafistan” I can travel to and be fully immersed 24/7.

Very nice interview, and I look forward to hopefully seeing IP back with Dr. Peter Kreeft. You should consider reaching out to Dr. Falk of Ancient Egypt and the Bible, whom IP mentioned as the Egyptologist that critiqued his original Exodus Rediscovered documentary and then co-produced his revised version of that documentary.
My favorite funny line is in genesis. God tells Sarah and Abraham that Sarah will have a baby and she starts laughing. God asks her why she’s laughing 🙁 She says that she wasn’t laughing 😳 Yes u were😒. Just imagining God’s expression as Sarah tries to save face being like, “Dude.” God has such a great sense of humor.
Best part of those stories is: that was Jesus, because we see in Exodus, God says “You cannot see my face and live.” Same thing in Joshua 5, The commander of the army of the Lord, accepts Joshua’s worship, unlike an angel who would’ve denied it. That’s Jesus, the COMMANDER of the army of the Lord, who put down his sword and his glory to live and die for us! And Who stands interceding for us now. Old Testament is awesome!
@@micahprice2807yep. Best OT realisation is that, whenever you read about God or the Angel of the LORD, etc. THAT'S JESUS. That's the same guy you're reading about when He's on the cross, dying for us. It's really crazy honestly.

I read all of A Song of Ice and Fire (well, what's been written) early in college. I avoided the show. However, the books themselves are pornography! And the sex scenes are not just gratuitous and detailed but usually grotesque. I deeply regret reading them now and wish I could get all of the images out of my head (including not just sex but also torture).
I'm really trying hard to understand where this guy is coming from on Christian "nationalism". What does he mean by that word? For example, I do not believe in having a secular government. I believe that if we are to have a gov, it should bow it's knee to Christ as king, it should glorify that which the Church teaches is good and criminalize that which the Church teaches is evil. Why do I believe this? Because the Catechism of the Catholic Church tells me to. Most people would define this as "Christian nationalism". So what does Mr. Jones propose our government do? Remain secular? Not adopt Catholic social teaching as legality? Become libertarian? He seems to be pushing hard against the concept of the government adopting a legal structure oriented towards the proper worship of God...
1:26:32 what was said here reminded me of the story of the rich man and Lazarus, when the rich man in hell asks abraham to send someone from the dead to warn his family: “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; they should listen to them.’ He said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”” Luke 16:29-31
What excellent insight on The Lord of the Rings and how to defeat the Dark Lord...through humility and love. Loved listening to the 2 of you comfortably talking with each other, both of you enjoying the dialog. It was completely organic.
What ridiculous straw man arguement. I go to church every sunday and sometimes the weekdays and rather have a national government enforcement of cultural christianity then what classical liberalism has given us. Why is he acting like christianity wasn't and can't be enforced in any political level. It's Christian futurism. Christ is our past, present, and future.
Matt should read Dawn of Wonder. Awesome fantasy with incredible writing that has a secret Christian message that jumps out of absolutely nowhere at the end and punches you in the heart
I disagree on Christian nationalism. Now I do not think we can make people Christians by government force, however that does not change the fact that all nations should be Christian nations in the sense that the secular government does have a duty to serve and obey God. For that reason I do believe that civil law should be based upon Biblical law in a kind of general equity theonomy.
Which eventually leads to a theocracy like the Roman Catholic church had in Europe and abused their narrow viewpoint of Christianity against all others.
@@davidjanbaz7728 perhaps, but any nation is at one level or other a theocracy. In America we live under a secular theocracy and look what it’s gotten us.
For those who hate Christian Nationalism: Should we remove the effigy of Moses from the top of the SCOTUS building? Should we change the national motto from “In God We Trust”? Should we remove the Latin inscription atop the Washington monument? The Decalogue at the National Archives should go? “Under God” officially removed from the pledge? Prayers before civic gatherings ended? Was SCOTUS right to ban prayer in public schools in the 60s? What about the seal of the US on all our money, With the eye of God, in a Trinitarian triangle watching over our country? I could go on and on.

“You can’t take the good in Christianity without taking Christianity”. So good. Whenever it is about our cause with a Jesus theming, it doesn’t work. The center, the motivation, the core needs to be always a relationship with Jesus and caring about things because he does not the other way around. That results in fruit naturally. Fruit that is good for us and everyone else around us!
I disagree with his take here. Not the quote you’ve put up, I agree with that. But he seems to argue that if you submit your politics to Christianity, and don’t force some sort of divorce, then you secretly just want Jesus on your team for a pre-existing political goal. Of course, his politics are so representative of a certain strain of *relatively* theologically conservative baptist churches, that I cannot but suspect that IP is unaware of the fact that unconsciously his religion has formed his politics. The question he hasn’t asked is why his religion has so much in common with Postwar Classically Liberal/ NeoLiberal American Conservatism.
@@claymcdermott718 I see where you are coming from. I think the broader point for me would be that regardless of our political leanings, when we submit our politics to Jesus, our priority is no longer the political kingdom or our political party, but actually God's kingdom. My "team" isn't my "political affiliation + Jesus" with my political opponents as my enemies. Instead, Jesus gets to be the focus, and we can unify as the Church under his priorities. Some of those obviously do have a political intersection. I don't think we should divorce ourselves from making a difference in the world at all. I do think, however, that culture on both sides of the political aisle make an idol of the political world, and that the Bible doesn't neatly fit into either political archetype completely. If we try to contort God into a mascot for our previous politics instead of approaching politics with a loving, set-apart, kingdom mindset, we run into trouble both in our theology and our politics. We should be Christians and members of the Body of Christ as our primary identity and the driving force before anything else, and that will hopefully keep our priorities right in every other area. God desires for us to take care of orphans and widows and the poor and needy, he desires for us to stand for justice and be a voice for the voiceless, he desires for us to protect the sanctity of life, he desires for us to live at peace with everyone as much as possible, to be in unity with the rest of the Body, and to love and pray for our enemies. Eating at the table with our political opponents is already countercultural, and not allowing ourselves to be boxed into extreme camps is even more countercultural. We won't always get it right, but I think if we truly keep Jesus first, we will interact with politics differently amidst a polarized, reactionary, vengeful, earth-focused world.
Pints love your channel... So valuable. Michael Jones' job for Inspiring Philosophy and how much I learned and one can learn from you is beyond estimation.

Funniest line in the Bible? At daily Mass, I chuckled out loud when the priest read this from the third chapter of Mark: "When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”"
Seeing the toast at the beginning of the video reminded me of an interview I listened to of Catholic professor Michael P. Foley, who wrote a book called Drinking With The Saints. Dr. Foley stated that when drinking with others, you should always begin with a toast. Dr. Foley would probably be a great guest for Pints With Aquinas.
1:33:00 IP, you need to do a better job a fighting your overwhelming need to believe all atheists are resistant to believing in your God. Be honest about your own motivation to deny what atheists are telling you about their personal beliefs again and again. I believe you, and most Christians, view God as loving and just. The thought that he is going to send an atheist to hell for being wrong does not seem very just... does it? Nope, you need to blame the atheist for rejecting God to justify ECT.
Very cool! I appreciate the message about playing our own parts and not trying to be a hero we are not. Also good to remind that Christianity went through much worse persecution.

30:52 - I'm 40, and there definitely was a more anarchic/anti-authority zeitgeist. 1:01:00 - I see more and more as I watch The Lord of the Rings, having read the books but not remembering much about them, that Sam, Gandalf, and Aragorn are the chief "heroes" (though, there truly are no "heroes" in LotR). Frodo's role can't be overlooked, but he would have failed if it were left to his own power. When he couldn't walk, Sam carried him. Footprints in the sand... There is no hero except Jesus: Aragorn, the unknown king, Gandalf, the one of power who died and rose again, and Sam, the comforter who carried Frodo when he couldn't walk.

Marvel: Endgame will be the most ambitious crossover in history.
Pints and IP: Hold my Scotch.
Catholic here and I’ve been following IP for a while, he’s very eloquent and extremely intelligent. I love his channel, hopefully more people can support him.
My funniest line in the Gospel is in response to:
"You must be the only person in Jerusalem that hasn't heard about the things that have gone on the last couple of days."
And Jesus after being crucified and murdered said...
"What things?"
That is pretty good
Lmao
Sometimes you watch podcasts so seamlessly that you're totally unaware of the time-this was one of them. Thanks for the experience Matt, can't wait for you to have him on again (possibly with Kreeft 😉).
God asks her why she’s laughing 🙁
She says that she wasn’t laughing 😳
Yes u were😒. Just imagining God’s expression as Sarah tries to save face being like, “Dude.”
God has such a great sense of humor.
If you were as old as her and Abraham: he laughed too : you would too !
Issac means laugher: so its even more funny !
Best part of those stories is: that was Jesus, because we see in Exodus, God says “You cannot see my face and live.”
Same thing in Joshua 5, The commander of the army of the Lord, accepts Joshua’s worship, unlike an angel who would’ve denied it.
I have watched this guy for some good time now. I've always appreciated his defense of faith and reason. On top of that he's very charitable towards catholicism. Definitely give his channel a look.
Thank you for having Michael on! His channel and work deserve more attention, and he's just such an all around solid dude.
I was into punk rock growing up in a very Catholic household. I don't know if my contrarion side is pulling me back to religion or if my parents hard work is starting to pay off.
The door is always open, brother! 🙏🏻
Bro haha same. I used to sneak out and go to punk shows, sneak back in for church the next day 😂
Trust me, me and half my youth group would go to Warped tour and mosh, Christ is calling everyone. Even the scene kids.
Being Christian is somewhat punk. To not conform to the patterns of the world. I mean, look at all the martyrs.
Your parents and others have been praying for you brother! God bless you
I use to be a Torah observant christian and Michael changed my mind on that subject and now I'm a catholic catechumen. He has been such a huge influence on my faith.
Why? You were Messianic Jew?
That's awesome!
I’m interested why you would be unless you were a Jew?
Wait, so is IP catholic?
Sorry to hear you were duped twice.
"Is there porn in the books?"
I tried to read them, couldn't finish the 4th book. Yes. There is porn all over and throughout those books.
Michael Jones is one of the horsemen of my conversion. I first heard his voice and thought he was a 21 YO boy until I saw his face😂. I think this is the first interview of him I’ve seen, so I’m disappointed I missed this live. God bless you both!
I was absolutely NOT prepared for him to open it up with “Don’t be a wanker”
Like bro my phone was on full volume 💀💀💀
I love IP for bible studies. He has helped me so much through Génesis and Exodus.
Michaels video about the problem of evil was one of the most impactful videos I've watched. The end of it was inspiring to say the least.
As someone who doesn't like whisky the fact that it's antiseptic makes perfect sense. Even bacterias don't like it.
51:06 Dillahunty gifted debater? Bull crap! all he does is gaslight people.
@puncbowlhaircut yeah but the author disappeared and never finished the story. I pray regularly that he is OK!
Great book though!
@@mccaski2 he got really sick but he has been very slowly working on the sequel. He has very occasional updates on his website!
That’s not what Christian Nationalism is
Michael is legendary! Thanks for having him on.
This was a great listen. If you're reading, we love you, Michael ❤️
Loved this. He's intelligent and yet down to earth and not concerned with sounding smart
Yep, IP has the sleeper build of intelligence. You don't know that he's actually a genius until he reveals it to you.
I had never heard of the documentary hypothesis until watching Mike's video on it.
Just a few days later, my atheist boss tossed it out as an objection to the Bible in the middle of a break room discussion. By the grace of God I was well prepared with an answer thanks to IP.
I'd have been completely caught with my pants down without what I believe was a providential viewing.
Wow, that's providential. Not just to you, but to your boss. Maybe God's helping your boss through you.
Yer a dog-faced 🐕 pony soldier!
I loved this interview😭😭🤣🤣🐐😂😂 please do another one with InspiringPhilosophy he’s awesome I love seeing him like this chill out relaxed and loosened up!!!
This was a really great fun interview by far my favorite one I’ve seen *PLEASE DO ANOTHER ONE AND MORE TO COME IN THE FUTURE!!* God bless🙏🙏🙏✊
Yep, Michael(IP) is a breath of fresh air in apologetics. He feels really relatable(just SOOOOOOOO much more knowledgeable)
I truly believe Mike is a gem in the Christian UA-cam channel world. His messages aren't as depressing. His messages have hope and his channel actually provides good info.
I still love metal, and I love Jesus. 🙏🏼 Excellent discussion
Amen to that!
Michael has been fighting the good fight on the internet for ages against neckbeard atheists.
Funniest line in the Bible?
At daily Mass, I chuckled out loud when the priest read this from the third chapter of Mark:
"When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.”"
The optimism of a postmillennialist! Thank you Michael.
Matt, Univision and Telemundo fans would benefit from some more inspiring Christian entertainment , at least the ones I know.
Wow! It’s nice to see the both of you collaborating. God bless you two
I’m new to Michael Jones. This was a great interview, thoroughly enjoyed it.
This guy is more catholic than most of the Catholics that I know.
There is catholics then there are Catholics then there are CATHOLICS
@@heistbros8575 and also "CaThOliCs"
This was great. Some of the best social commentary.
I love the break screen. Aquinas versus Dawkins 😆!
That book sounds hilarious! Im thinking of buying that stuff right now lol
I so enjoyed this discussion. Very interesting and not so deep that it's hard to follow. Great points and great work! 🙏 ✝️
The most shocking moment of this video is Matt Fradd saying 'based'
...dear brothers matt and michael, i really enjoyed your discussion; as someone who would be labled a Protestant these days and who grew up going to a Russian Orthodox Church on Saterday's and a Catholic Mass on Sundays, i appriaciate how you both live out the great commission in your respective venues. There is so much division in our culture these days it is reminisate to the anti war and civil rights era of the 1960's and 70's ,in Los Angeles where i grew up. Thank you both for your educational content and may we all gain a better understanding of the character of God, which Jesus lived out on this earth and may He help us in our walks as we go about our business of loving God and loving others, ....much love from Morro Bay, CA, ...eyah
That reminds me, Matt. Any chance of getting E. Michael Jones on Pints with Aquinas? Maybe to talk about Vatican II and David Wemhoff's book?
I watched this whole thing and it made my day.
I really enjoy this (not finished watching yet). I like IP's analysis (building on Tom Holland).
Also, Matt is 100% correct on the lack of rebellious subcultural edginess among zoomers and younger.
I wonder how Michael would define christian nationalism
There are like a million different understandings of it
I suspect he would define it in such a way that a Catholic would have to disagree with his rejection
@@claymcdermott718 think most Christian doctrine would fall, because it would vulnerable to "schizo god critic". Because the case against Christian nationalism can mostly only be upheld using only the new testament and not the old testament
