***This was a donation request and I really, really appreciate you, Jack!***
Thanks for the shout out man, I really appreciate it, great reaction, I knew you'd really dig that second song.
They started to do a reunion tour, but then covid hit, they might be touring this summer but I'm not sure. Zack, the lead singer, and the band had a little falling out early 2000s, but the other three band members stayed together. They hooked up with Chris Cornell from Sound Garden and did 3 albums as Audio Slave, then for a short time after Chris parted ways, they got B-Real from Cypress Hill and Chuck D from Public Enemy to be their frontmen, and put an album out as Prophets of Rage.
Zack did a track with KRS-One and some other solo stuff, and a little later he met and became friends with Killer Mike and is on at least two Run The Jewels tracks as a feature.
Thanks again man!! ✌💚
@@sunshynff Maaaan you just took me down the most nostalgic tour of hip hop that I could imagine. That is a damn journey, and wait they were Audio Slave? I know that group (at least a bit of the songs) and never pieced that together for some reason. Probably just wasn't paying attention.
But you're very welcome man, and I really appreciate you for donating and supporting. That's the kind of help I need to keep this going and it wasn't received lightly. I'm glad you liked the react and I could do it justice for you. They were fire tracks and videos and it brought me back to my Mississippi days as a kid heh. I appreciated that thought.
Man...this dropped when i was in high school. EVERYONE loved it. Didn't matter what clique u was from. Skaters, gangsta rappers, punk rockers, metal heads, b-boys, stoners, and jocks, and hippie girls etc......we ALL bumped RATM, and hungvout together
The 90s was truly magical. GENx is still the tougest, coolest, and most creative...
Class of 95
That's what it was about man, it's sad it doesn't seem like that anymore. You should've seen my circle of friends, bro people from ALL types. We didn't give a shit, we knew we were more alike than different. Haves and have nots. Memory lane. I'm class of '08 haha. So you're way before me, but I bet we aligned more than we didn't.
🖖😬🤘
Down Rodeo, Know Your Enemy, Take the Power Back, Bulls on Parade
Top Four Rage. For sure.
The woman that introduced them is Tom Morello's mom. 😂
Yep, Rage still lives out their beliefs. Tom and Zack regularly attend protests for union workers and pro-Palestine events. Anyone who says they rage “for” the machine now never understood their message.
Well put!!
That's what I'm talking about and love to hear. Thanks for that reminder!
100%
I know right!!!!??? Because they are making money off the art they created? What the record executives and record companies should get all the money? Back in the 90’s you had to have a record deal to get your stuff out. There was no internet, a record deal or no deal.
“Fvck you, better do what I tell you!”
-RATM
More people need to enjoy RATM. Love seeing people "wake up" with them.
I love Rage Against The Machine! And I remember the Cypress Hill version of this song. Thanks for a great reaction, and thanks to Jack for a great request.
The needle drop on this masterpiece to put a period on The Matrix….
🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌 no notes.
I work at a lab in a hospital, and I regularly keep music playing. I had “How I Could Just Kill a Man” from Cypress playing, and the patient asked who did this cover. I said that it’s Cypress Hill, and they’re the ones who originally recorded it, but that I did happen to have a cover from Rage on my phone as well. Turned out she thought Rage did it originally. I explained that the entire album “Renegades” was covers. I guess she didn’t know.
a LOT of people don't know.
Yeah I was going to say, I feel like a lot of people don't know that, and it's always funny when a cover can end up replacing the original because of timing, popularity, and skill. And a wealth of other factors. Cypress' is the timeless classic to me tho, even though Rage's cover is a certified banger.
I hate to say that I had this conversation with my ex wife. I always had music on and she heard the CH version playing and asked me about it. I ended up telling her the original release date and etc. She also did not realize the Minor Threat cover or that Renegades of Funk was Afrika Bambaataa - but hey, music is much more important to some of us then others.
Also..... Rage were on the soundtrack to Tony Kawks pro skater... legendary!
You took me back with that one lol I miss that game.
I recommend listening to People of the Sun, but you can't really go wrong with any Rage tracks.
Love Rage ! Bullet in the Head is fire but they got so many great songs !
Excellent! I love these guys!
I'm a milenial too and I grew up on RATM, mainly Nu metal but I love early hip hop, Cypresses Hill and I'm from Europe 😅
But the message of RATM can be applied to any decade and any society of people who stand against injustice and oppression from the government.
Wake up!! 🤘🔥✊
Absolutely, this is the kind of message that never loses touch with reality and always holds up. Between them and Flobots, I always have my anthems for the oppressors! Haha.
@@TheBlackSpeed oh great 😁 my go to song for protest in my country is RATM - freedom!!! ✊🔥
They're so tight on the backbeat, you just can't deny how talented they are. I borrowed the first album and I've been a fan ever since then.
great video bro! ✊✊
Love it!
Bro spittin facts!
Check out the original track from Cypress Hill
Oh I already know it, of course. It's a banger and timeless.
Every song and even the artist they cover are great, a lot of talent from all the members.
Facts, no disagreement at all. Legends.
Great reaction - to answer your question? Yes big Rage head. Tylenol's in the mail.
Lmao that's funny. But that's real good to hear!
My fav Rage song. Much love to Jack!
Definitely listen to the live RATM versions of How I Could Just *with* Cypress Hill
I rage
Check zack solo project one day as lion, diggin for windows it was his alternative rock, indie, hip hop crossover from 2008 very good
one day as a lion is so gd good
It is both Amazing and extremely Depressing how the songs by RAtM are still ring so damn true. You would think people could/would do better / try harder .... Was really glad i got to see them live back in the 90's - sometimes there are advantages to being old....
or as another very political band put it " Turn the Lights on, Roaches run for cover, name them, blame them, hang them up with their pants on fire"
Would you be willing to do "Dazed and confused" by Led Zeppelin?
I think you can really expand your viewer base by doing a rock reaction. And this one would be a perfect one to start with. I think you gonna like it a lot.
I'll keep that in mind, for sure. I don't know when I can do it, but I don't disagree that I should keep it varied and eclectic on the channel. I agree.
This video (and RATM) is all just straight facts!
At the very beginning of this song they're playing the main beat from Led Zeppelin's 'Kashmir', which is super famous & many rappers have sampled it. Most famously P Diddy used it for Come With Me for the Godzilla movie, but Kurtis Blow (OG fr the 80s), Beyonce & others have also used it, too.
It's the same rhythm pattern, but it's not sampled. RAtM never puts on any sounds that don't come out of their instruments or voices.
@@elbruces Yes, agreed. I made sure not to say they sampled it, just played it. I do agree there's a distinction, although I'm not anti-sampling as long as the original artists gets paid. It brings that music to the next generations. But no, RATM wasn't a sampling kind of band.
You're like "something I think, I don't know" then said it exactly where it's from ;P
Haha I do that often!
They have other cover songs that are just as good as this. Check out "Pistol Grip Pump" and "I'm Housin"
I genuinely appreciate your vocabulary.
Haha, hearing others speak makes me appreciate my own vocabulary too. Appreciate you, Keith!
✊🏾
Lov u
I don't necessarily with all their messages, but I costomed put a Tom Morrello, Seymour Duncan cool rail pickup in my guitar 20 years ago cause the guitar sounds amazing and their guitar sounds work for everyone regardless of style. And talk about a master of effects
Yeah, they've always been good at portraying a message, whether people agree with it or not, and showcasing it visually. Much respect for that alone!
its in viet cause we love them the most, lol find the history to the black and white rage cover for one of their album! best picture of freedom since man was born! FACTS
I always like RATM and their leftist (socialist)-based politics. It’s because of them that I’ve learned about the Zapatistas and changed my views from authoritarian(Marxist-Leninist) to that of a more libertarian socialist/anarchist-like approach to my politics, and it’s because of them that I learned about cool societies like, obviously, the Zapatistas but also Rojava and FEJUVE as well. Music is not only entertaining but also educational as well.
Zack is essentially a Zapatista.
Music has always been educational for me, at least in the way I view and interpret it. Good ear!
Falling in Reverse dropped Ronald yesterday. It is HEAVY but 🔥
Yep, I'm going to try to get that recorded and dropped as a late night drop TONIGHT. Surprise!
yes its in the Matrix! wake up bro? lol hugs
Hahaha. WAKE UP!
Check out some Led Zeppelin, start with live at Earls Court In My Time Of Dying (1975). Legendary guitarist Jimmy Page plays the hell out of a steel guitar, it will blow your mind. That’s only one of so many masterpieces. I’ll be looking for a Led Zeppelin reaction from you.
Oh jeez, who knows when I'll be able to get to that haha. I'll try to remember you suggested that though and you'll just be surprised one day.
@@TheBlackSpeed write it down, because I know you will absolutely love it, Led Zeppelin is really the greatest band ever. They still have millions of fans, & still getting new fans daily, I think you’d become a huge fan too.
Oh I know me some Led now haha. I don't listen to as many songs as I should, but I grew up in the sticks of Mississippi. Had no choice but to love and respect the classics. They'll get their due soon!
It’s important to note, I think, that the political divide that Rage is against isn’t D v R. Both are capitalists and fascist. They protested the Democratic National Convention. Not the Republicans. The machine they’re against is capitalism. Both major parties in the US support capitalism. They’re specifically against the exploitation of the oppressed. Capitalism.
For sure. My thing has always been the have vs have nots, and the elite vs. the undesirables, so I can see that. And I agree.
this is recorded in 92 btw. aint a damn thing changed.
Isn't that sad? Nothing's really changed at all.
That popular girl no real
Always enjoyed rage and ive been on both sides of politics but for the past ten years ive been thinking for myself lmao so im outside of being cancelled right 😂😂. Great tracks love the reaction bro 👍👍
Haha yes, yes we are on the outside looking in I would HOPE haha. And appreciate you, glad you liked it!
This or Taylor girl
X
I’ll take Rage Against the Machine over anyone any day! And it’s sad it’s awful that their lyrics are just as relevant today because what changes? Nothing changes and it seems to be getting worse and it pisses me off and I find myself going back to rage like I did years ago. Now nothing against Taylor Swift. My daughter loves her, but if you want some truth, put on Rage Against the Machine. The same idiots that use rage because I don’t know for some stupid reason they don’t understand them and they think they’re on their side are the same people who take one line out of Martin Luther King Jr. speech and make that one line into anything they want, God forbid they ever listen to an entire speech. If they did, maybe they would learn something. that’s funny that I think they would learn something, they’ll never learn. They’ll always be awful.
And the longer I'm on this planet, the more I'm learning that lesson. That sometimes, people are exactly who they show you to be and you should believe them. Don't fight it.
Yep. End credits to matrix reloaded x
Wake Up was at the end of the first movie. Reloaded had Calm Like A Bomb.
@@radioethiopiate9327 oops! .... can I blame the drugs and head banging lol
@@scs3973 Haha. Nah I get it. Had me second guessing for a sec.
conservatives do like to tell you what to think. i heard that mlk story too. this b.... i'll leave it there. but cmon yall.
When I saw that shit you should've seen my face lol. I'm just like..the audacity. The GALL.
You need to do a blind react to Down Rodeo!!!
Yes!
Down Rodeo eh? It would for sure be blind haha. I'll have to check that out. :)
@@TheBlackSpeed Yeah, but make sure react to they lyrics video!
