Music: El Tango de Roxanne, as preformed by Jose Feliciano and Ewan McGregor from Moulin Rouge.
Okay, one of my better and darker AMVs, an exploration in depicting the basic love triangle of the anime, which mirrors the original novel.
Basically it is the story of three friends, one girl and two men, and the violent love and betrayal which tears them apart.

Thank you so much. Yes, Gankutsuou is an interesting adaptation of Dumas' "Count of Monte Cristo" in that it forgoes the original protagonist to focus on Albert, but the relationship between Mercedes/Edmond/Fernand still ultimately drives the plot and tension. I love Albert and the anime's new ideas/changes, but I still wanted to tackle the core of the story in a cool way.

It's true, the focus in the anime of Gankutsuou is more towards the kids (like Albert), hence it was challenging to use just these three adults, which is why you don't see this footage much elsewhere. But that's what I had hoped would grab the user and pull them into a wild ride.
The worst part was that when they led Edmond Dantès away from his wedding to be questioned he went willingly and he simply told his soon to be wife that he was sure it was all a big mix up and he'd be back in only a few hours at the most... 20 years! CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING LOCKED AWAY IN A HELL HOLE FOR 20 YEARS JUST BECAUSE 3 MEN WERE JEALOUS OF YOUR LIFE AND ONE WANTED TO COVER HIS OWN ASS TO HELP HIS POLITICAL CAREER!?
I'm glad you liked it. Yes, one of the main things I wanted was to shown the depths of the insanity everyone involved was sinking to in this video by upping the biazzare imagery as things went along.

If you left some of the dialouge between the guy and his wife and perhaps a crazy laugh from the Count himself at the quite parts it would have been sooooo much better!! But it's the best Count of Monte Cristo amv I've had the fortune to witness! Good job :D
