As someone who also suffered from selective mutism as a child, I totally agree with all your points! I also have a lot of sympathy for quieter children (although I have yet to meet one with selective mutism, and I always feel a kind of relief on their behalf when they say something!), and definitely think more should be done to help with the mental health problems of any young people. Also, since you mentioned your own struggles with anxiety (I relate a lot btw), I was wondering if you think any aspects of your personality are kind of after effects of selective mutism? Because there are some things about me which I think may or may not be related to my childhood, so I was just wondering whether you think that you can ever fully get over selective mutism? Like I, like you, now talk openly to whoever, but also I feel as if I still have certain types of anxiety which are kind of remnants of my previous self. Haha, idk if that made any sense, but I would be v interested to know your thoughts!!
Madeline yes! I completely understand what you're saying. I do 100% believe that my anxiety is linked to my SM. I think there will always be that slight bit of anxiety but as time goes on it does get better , so hopefully there will be a point in life where the anxiety isn't there :) thank you for your comment. When I did some research it did state that most SM sufferers will have curtain anxieties when they're older xx
I love your eyeliner and lipstick colour, You should do that for Wednesday! I totally agree when you said that teachers don't understand and pressuring students to do things doesn't help at all. I've seen so many students run out of the class rooms in tears because they are so anxious to do something they don't want to do and then they get even more anxious because they feel like they will be told of for not doing what a teacher asked. You've made a really nice background! I really like the little sign saying happy. I don't understand anxiety very well as I have never experience it but i have experience depression and i can say that its one of the worst feelings in the world. I dealt with my problems on my own as i felt like no one understood my feelings and ways my head worked. People who don't understand your issues are one of the worst enemy's(in my experience) of mental health. Amazing video Georgie, Keep up the inspiring content!
