Also, we have to realise that sometimes when our promised provisions are delayed or taking time to come after we turn to obedience in ways that may initially reduce what we have in terms of worldly benefits (e.g. leaving off means that involve something haram that may seem to make much easier gains of provision or making hijrah to a Muslim land that may not be as well off as the non-Muslim land you left), this is to test our truthfulness in focusing on the hereafter (are we really sincere in our obedience to Allah and shifting our priorities towards His path?); refer it back to verses 2 and 3 of Surah Ankabut - on top of this we need to realise that no matter what we do (whether we resort to haram means of worldly gain or actively seek workarounds to suffice with what is halal) we will ultimately be limited to what Allah decreed for us in the first place, if you look at what He mentioned in verses 18 and 19 of Surah Isra' - for the one who seeks this world (what is 'right here right now') Allah did not say He would give them whatever they desire, rather what He wills for whom He likes (i.e. some will get all of what they strove for, some will only get a portion of it and others will not get anything at all) whereas the one who seeks the reward in the next life as their main concern will get from that an unlimited reward [Refer to Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen's Explanation of Riyadh-as-Saliheen under the first hadith for more details, as the shaykh did a nice tafsir of those verses within it]
The saying of we leave the “rest to Allah” is incorrect. Rather we say we do our best with the help of Allah.
