- Diesel filters. In Your Sailboat.Marine Diesel filters. How they work, How to change them on your sailing boat? We look at the things you need to know if your going to sail away!
Welcome to our channel.
We are now in season 6
In 2018 we left the UK to sail around the world slowly. After Brexit, a "Pandemic" and major heart surgery we are still sailing, documenting our travels and showing you what we have learned so far.
We are hoping to complete our journey, and travel right around the world even if we have had a few setbacks along the way. We will continue at our own pace and that may be fast or slow. We want to be sure not to miss anything and have stories to tell our grandchildren when we are old and grey.
Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.
We do have a second channel YOUR DRONE TV It is a mix of music from classical to blues, from Opera to Punk all with stunning drone footage.

Great detailed review. Much appreciated
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Larry.
The illustrations were beyond professional. Excellent work. Enjoyed the video--the engine sounds great. Thank you for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.
Pre filter, oil filter, fuel filter and oil changed for the very first time ever and on my own watching your videos. If anybody reading this needs instruction, this is the channel and the natural thing to do, is like, subscribe and then head over to the Patreon and sign up. Thank you both ;-)

Thanks for doing this video. I think my Yanmar will be very similar. I am wondering why you didn't swap out your see thru filter before the shut off valve. Wouldn't that first filter be the dirtiest one?
Good question! We keep a couple of the see through filters on board to change if necessary. So far we have never had to change one but, it's the first in line for dirt or debris and as you say the most likely to be the dirtiest one of the 3. Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
Great video as always. Basically the same as my older MD2030d except my primer pump is a little finger pump that takes ages so I suck diesel through to the bleed hole by screwing it out completely and attaching the engine oil extractor pump - I was shown this trick by an old sea dog and it’s saved my loads of time.
How many engine hours do you have between changing the fuel filters- I have been changing mine yearly/100hrs but as you point out they are usually clean.
Two years or more Kevin. Never had a bad one yet. Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid
Thanks for a great instruction video! Just to be sure, is it correct that no bleeding is needed after only replacing the water-separating primary filter (and not the secondary filter)? If so, where does the air inside the primary filter go when starting up the engine? It should be around half a liter of air inside that primary filter I guess…
You can if you want do a few pumps on the primary filter first, the secondary has enough fuel to run the engine and the air is not an issue. It cycles through the pump.
@@SVImpavidus Thanks a lot!
