HVAC Low Voltage Shorts are Annoying

- The journey begins with a routine A/C tune-up on a brand new unit, a task that promises smooth sailing but soon reveals the first signs of trouble. As we delve deeper into the system, we uncover a leaking valve in the condenser installation, threatening to derail our progress. With quick thinking and decisive action, we address the issue and restore the unit to working order, but not without a few hiccups along the way.
But the challenges don't end there. A stubborn low voltage short in another A/C unit proves to be a persistent foe, caused by a burnt-out contactor relay coil. Despite the frustration, we persevere, troubleshooting the problem and implementing a solution to restore power and functionality to the unit.
As the day draws to a close, we find ourselves on a residential rooftop with a breathtaking view of the New York City skyline. Here, against the backdrop of urban splendor, we install a hard start kit on a condenser, a fitting end to a day filled with highs and lows.
Through it all, the dedication and expertise of HVAC technicians shine, as they navigate through challenges with skill and determination. Join us on this journey of resilience and ingenuity, where every obstacle is an opportunity for growth, and every success is a testament to the unwavering commitment to excellence in the HVAC industry.
Someone smoked the suction valve when brazing the lineset.
Got a hammock for my van. Was really pleasant yesterday while waiting for 2 RTU compressor swaps to pull vacuum.
You sir are a genius 😂😂
Cut some rags into strips, wet them, and wrap your valves before brazing. Works every time.
Wrap and solder
That wire is “MC ” Cable. Not BX cable. BX cable is that old style cable that you find in old houses and it has only 2 conductors
Yeah a hook for your Veto would be great. I often put mine up high just to throw it on my shoulder too.. but I basically carry a bag of rocks.
glad you're back!
Learned that the hardway on tstats coming fac wired for different applications 😂
You could ohm out the coil of the contactor too. Around 12-17 ohms.
Test the resistance across the coil on contactor. Should be between 10-20ohms. If close to zero it’s shorted
Smell that bad contactor. Remember that smell, and everytime you have a blown fuse during cooling smell the contactor first. Same smell same issue have had to change many of them. I know I know that wouldn't make for good content on the channel though 😂
I’m waiting on pump watching someone else waiting on pump on UA-cam 🤯
I like your editing
Wow so much more room in that truck❤
Hammic however it's spelled would do. And maybe microwave mini of some sort. Also disappointed I have not seen you have an iconic coffee break on screen in a while lol😀
Curious, did you add nylog or some sort of thread sealant to the cap? And why not just measure the resistance value of the contractor coil?
Nice truck
Hmm didn't wrap the valve when brazing get a thing of wet rag
Get new batteries for your gauges.
