Moving My GOLDEN Honeypot Ants (Myrmecocystus mexicanus) Into A New Nest!

- Check out as I move one of my GOLDEN honeypot ants into a brand new nest! Moving them is always an exciting but nerve-wracking experience as you have to be extremely careful to not harm any ants in the process! They were transferred from their small, cramped mini hearth into a gorgeous new Tar Heel Ants fortress. Myrmecocystus mexicanus is one of if not the biggest honeypot ant species out there, so they definitely needed the extra space!

Pretty much all ants can bite but unless they have extremely strong jaws which only very few species do, you pretty much don’t feel anything, at most it’s a slight pinch

Tip: You shouldn't force an ant colony because the workers may get injured when you dumbed them in the setup. You should just connect a tube to the main nest and let them move the workers will drag the repleats. And all workers are important in that stage. Anyways i like the video keep it up!
Repletes can't fit through the tubing and most likely will be accidentally torn or abandoned by workers
@@Antboi4653 not only that, but Dumping worker ants have like Zero chance of hurting them... Ants aren't as fragile as they look, it's like a bunch of miniature Ironmen (yes the RDJ's Ironman lol)! Anyway I like the concern though Erullyn 🥰 Do you keep Ants?

I'll never forget him screaming as he jumped into the ocean, they were still biting him...

I keep ants as well, and I actually happen to have a colony of this same species. They are far smaller than yours tho - they don't even fill their mini hearth yet

Unlike most ant species, honeypot ants cannot move on their own since the repletes one fully filled become essentially immobile.
