I adore Maritza! I think she’s one of the prettiest dolls AG has ever made. I wasn’t wild about the sporty look either and she lost those clothes almost immediately. Evette has become a historical in my collection. She is my 1830’s doll. She is Rose Veltrac a mixed race woman from New Orleans. She is from the Benjamin January series of mysteries by Barbara Hambly (I highly recommend).
THANK YOU! I agree with you on Maritza (now). She's so pretty. I didn't realize it was those meet clothes that was messing with it... I think the pants especially. New Orleans is one of my favorite cities. The culture and history is fascinating. I'll have to look into Benjamin January, sounds all the things I love. Thanks for the recommendation!
This video is really well done! I appreciate the extra information about these dolls. I have Evette which is an exception for me as I also collect the historical girls. A tip I learned for keeping the bags on their shoulders is to put it on under the jacket. It still looks fine to me and helps keep the purse on the doll. Plus it keeps her safer from purse snatchers! All three dolls are stunning. I’m sorry you had to pay so much for Maritza. She is very beautiful! I agree these should be called modern historicals. 😃👍
Your kind words mean everything to me! I know how much effort you put in your videos too, and it's so nice hearing it's enjoyed. Thank you! And thanks for the trick with the purse, so smart. Yes, Modern Historicals! AG, let's do that! 😊
YES! Same with the love for Evette. Hope you've been able to score some of the Community Center pieces you've been eyeing, or at least AG still has them available. The couch was always one I paused to admire. And then recently, someone had the lockers in the background of their doll photo and it looked so cool!
Thank you for a great video . All three dolls are beautiful and it is a shame they are now retired . I have Maritza and Evette and someday hope to get Makenna. I also have the sofa accessory set from the community center . It is a very well made set that can be used with a lot of other play sets . Not sure what AG was thinking by retiring this whole line. Thanks again for all the great information in this video ! I am enjoying every one of your videos , Keep them coming !
Thank you, that is so kind of you! Good to know about the sofa accessory set, it's on my watchlist! And agree - what were they thinking retiring this!?
That is so tricky with the timing! I was lucky that she was still around from AG and in some good Holiday sales at the time. I love her so much, I'll keep my eye out if I ever see a good one available. 💕
Hunting for good deals is part of the fun for me. I keep hoping someone will list an "extra" they got from one of those sales at a good price that I'll stumble upon. But they are all so pricey!
Congratulations! I love these 3 dolls! I bought Evette and Makena right after they came out. I didn't get Maritza until about 9 months later. I still need to read Maritza's book. I read Makena's to my husband when we were driving home from the AG store in LA. We both liked her book.
Thank you so much! They are such beautiful dolls. Glad to hear about the books, I need to make that a priority. Maybe I'll grab them while driving to Thanksgiving at my in-laws! I love your stories and when they include Mr. Sew4dolls! Our husbands likely have things in common, with both of our love for our dolls!
While I do think that all these dolls are lovely, I am not a fan of any of the dolls with the eye paint (painted on lashes). I guess that helps my wallet.
I can totally see that! To be honest, it wasn't my favorite at first either. But now I love it. You are so funny and spot on, that is good for the wallet!
@ I have to set my boundaries somewhere or I’d go bankrupt. So I drew the line at 2 things: no dolls with the painted lashes, and no truly me dolls (unless I find one at a thrift store). So I stick with the historicals and GOTY :) but I still drive my hubby nuts with buying the clothes that go with those 2 categories ;) lol
@tirzahmyers3392 I respect and admire that. That's a solid approach! I think if I were to downsize, the truly mes would be the first I'd sell. They are cute, but there is nothing like the Historicals and GOTY. They are just so special. I say that, but I've not bonded with Emily at all but looove my #37 (Merry). Someone talk some sense into me. Haha!

I really wanted Evette but she wasn’t available anymore when I really got back into it

We love Maritza but she's so over our budget.
I know. I wish they never retired this line!
