But he genuinely grew to love Fl and was heartbroken at her death. He's a bit obsessive about her but he would never put her through anything horrible.

If the male lead was a woman and the female lead was a man would you feel the same way. He is justified in the beginning to not trust her and to be upset. I know I would be.
