Jackie was actually the voice actor for Captain Shang in Mulan (1998) and sang "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" in both the Mandarin and Cantonese versions.
The music video of Jackie Chan singing “I’ll Make A Man Out Of You” was the inspiration for me to do martial arts when I was 4. 😊
About "The Myth": Jackie Chan plays an archaeologist who is studying Ancient China. He's actually a reincarnation of a Chinese general who was in a forbidden love with (I forget, the emperor's concubine?)... She ended up getting entombed and actually waits for the general to come fetch her. Eventually, after many antics, Jackie's character ends up excavating the tomb and meeting up with her.
Fun fact about Jackie: He was Shang's singing voice in the Mandarin and Cantonese dubs of Disney's animated Mulan.
Aside: Now I gotta come up with another song for September. Uuuugh, I'm paralyzed by choice.
A couple things to say. First is the lore of this song. It's from a movie called "The Myth" made in 2005 starring the singers of the song, Jackie Chan and Kim Hee Seon. In the movie, Jackie Chan is a general that saved Kim, who was a princess in the movie, from a life/death situation. They both promised to see each other, but Jackie's character died and reincarnated as an archeologist in the present day. His present day character goes into a Chinese Emperor's tomb and finds out the princess is still alive due to an immortality pill. She initially recognizes him before a fight scene when jackie's friend calls him Jack instead of his previous life's name. After the fight, the princess refuses to go with Jack since she promised to wait for Jack's previous life person.
Second thing, I've watched Jackie Chan's movies since I was 4. He was my inspiration to do martial arts. Until a few months ago, I never knew he could sing like this. It really is amazing to see Drum Roll Tony review one of my favorite songs aside from JoJo.
His voice really does touch your soul. One of his pieces, the music outro of Bleeding Steel is one of those amazing musical arts
Ohhhh myyy, endless love by jackie chan, childhood memories. He's been singing for a long time.
I know! I can't believe the movie is 18 years old!
Jackie Chan has studied Peking Opera, but he has never acted in Peking Opera. The main reason is that no one sees Peking Opera, so he went to make movies.
One of the most beautiful things about this song is Jackie Chan is singing in Mandarin while Kim Hee Seon is obviously singing Korean.
obviously
What a throwback song. Reminds me of my youth! The early days when you got asian movies with eng subs from flea markets. Crazy you did a reaction to this song! The movie is also amazing!
Jackie used to learn opera first, act was after thing
That is Amazing
I should qualify that Beijing Opera and Classical (Western) Opera are two different things.
If I remember correctly, songs in Armor of God and Police Story are also sang by him
Haven't seen the movie in years, the music always stuck in my head
I like his kickass song "High upon high!!!"
i looove jackie chan singing. especially the song for the foreigner. fckn awesome
Just learned that Jackie spent his childhood going to school at a Chinese opera house taking vocal lessons wow
Yo it was so cool to know this I had no clue either!
You think Jackie Chan as this goofy action comedy star but he was quite the playboy back in his day.
If anyone ineterested, you might be able to find some TV clips of his singing on YT. Multi-talented and lovable ;)
Didn't expect to suddenly understand the words. Then I noticed it was Korean haha. Anyway, wasn't he in the Beijing Opera?
It's shock ,
he has a great voice.
Great vid!
My dad always play this music... I'm not jackie chan fans but this song i lovee this!!!!
And the fact they use 2 different language make me Interested in the story
Great Song, very beautiful voices ❤
I never expected this reaction
He sang in every Hong Kong movie and it was cool. especially the police story theme
A legend deserving of an ALGORITHM BOOSTING COMMENT.
Haven't watched a Jackie Chan movie in forever.
Now time to watch the movie

Your should review him singing the theme song "Ordinary People" for the Foreigner
If you liked his vocals I can recommend the ballad version of the Police Story 2013 theme song.
It's pretty much just Jackie's vocals and ambient music but I still listened to it a lot. ua-cam.com/video/vuUCrigxThQ/v-deo.html
