Hot take: I think that the reason they set a higher brightness was because the main concern with the world in CBT was that it was not "colorful enough" or it was "dreary". This is a classic example of: sometimes the customer doesn't know exactly what they want. Dark and dreary can be a really nice add in especially in a darker game like Wuthering Waves. This story is not a feel good story.
I wouldn't say its the customer not knowing what they want. Its more of two different types of people with different preferences on what they want since the color pallet was such a big complaint back then.

In the middle of Jianzhou (the main city) during midday the shadows and scenary feels weird so I increased a little bit. It looks amazing when it's more dark
Its because brightness in this game isnt really “brightness” that weve become accustomed to in most games, this brightness is more of a white backlight setting so when its high, everything looks whiter and more washed out, with it lower the contrast and true colors are allowed to come through uninterrupted.
not to get too nerdy but it seems like a bug or a feature that makes it so the contrast goes up as the brightness goes down because in theory the game should have as much contrast if not more when you have high or average brightness
