How will Moscow meet the challenge of ruling several rich Moslem nations in the middle of its map? I think that Putin is sleepwalking in to Ukraine out of an unconscious need to avoid thinking about this real and difficult question.

Another upside for the point of Russia was its place as a world power.. Russia would be India today if not for this defence against western imperialist powers. As for Russia - they could not vote out Stalinism, unfortunately.. but still here we cannot vote out capitalism.. And we will need to constantly expose your infantile self-serving platitudes, because for some reason your verbal diarrhoea persists. I tuned in because I'm a fan of Simon Montefiore, but Anne Applebaum (who to my knowledge has exactly zero experience in real estate and is a lifelong academic/author) spouting off about how the "entire NYC real estate industry in the 90's was Russian money laundering," and thus Donald Trump has deep-seated ties to the Russian underground is a little bit insulting the collective intelligence.
