- Listen to Jóhann Jóhannsson’s beautiful track ‘Odi et Amo’ - now available remastered on the new double album ‘Englabörn & Variations’ on Deutsche Grammophon. Shortly before his passing, Jóhannsson completed a new record: 'Englabörn & Variations'. With this, now seeming like a parting gift, Jóhannsson reinterpreted pieces of his 2002 debut album 'Englabörn' and invited other artists he admired to do the same. Like Catullus 85, from which the famous verse Odi et Amo (I hate and I love) is taken, Jóhannsson’s record articulates a succession of emotional states. At times it’s almost jaunty, ushered towards certainty by pattering drums, while at others there’s an air of defiance but it never shakes off its elegiac mood.

My man playing the tape machine as gracefully as the string section play their instruments. One of a kind.
I believe Johansson was tapping into something unspeakably primal, perhaps even otherworldly when making his music.
Only an immense artist like Johannsson could translate in music Catullo's excruciating verses. You are so deeply missed Maestro
I just found his music! Same thing than with Esbjorn Svensson, just found their music and realizing they already gone. An analogy could be the image we get from from some stars, once we notice them they are probably gone already. As light don´t travel fast enough for our mortals eyes to see, the music of these portents.

Englabörn was the first i heard of his classical music when the CD came out and it is and will hold up for centuries to come.
Johann I’ve been blessed to find your beautiful, breathtaking music. There is always a piece that helps me convey my emotions. I still cannot believe you are gone, such a big loss to your fans. RIP Jóhann

Look up another stark beautiful piece by Oli Arnalds called himininn er að hrynja en stjörnurnar fara þér vel. (The sky maybe falling but the stars look good on you)
It has an electronic monologue that speaks:

@@БацзыЦюань-к1ф you are either trolling or completely naive, but it’s the exact opposite... the most talented people on the iconic genius level almost always die in the stupidest (usually drug related) way; e.g., Elvis, Prince, Michael Jackson, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Kobain, Bruce Lee, etc, etc., etc... shall I go on? because I have another hundred I can mention.

So can you explain why secondary and tertiary artists do not pass away in a pathetic way although they are more likely to degrade, while the top-tear people you mentioned were "self-made", and such people are wise and don't usually make stupid things. So why only truly talented people die young and in a weird manner.
