I am interested but do you think it is something that would be very triggering to read for someone who has difficulty with reading stuff where there is abuse of women in it? I once read a book that had so much stuff in it that re-traumatized me for days after reading it and not a single reviewer mentioned all the abuse of women in it. All the reviews just said it was "sexy" "fun" and "entertaining." It was none of those things. It was horrifying. Yes it was well written but sometimes I wish I never read the book even if it meant missing out on good writing. I'm sorry if this is a difficult question to answer.
I appreciate your reaching out here. There is no abuse of women at all in these two novels. The darkness I felt was due to the complexities of the relationship between a woman in her fifties and a young man half her age. I do want to mention that there is a subtext here of his being "groomed" when he was 19 with the encouragement of his mother. Warm regards to you, Eleanor.
