Absolute C-R-A-P, Tav has gone past his due date, 2 terrible passes in the span of 20 seconds near their box at the end of the match. They looked more like scoring. This team can't score goals, no threats around the box, season looks to be dismal. The ONLY good thing about the result is that we only had 1 injury. Cortes will be out for at least 3 months now.

Hello everyone! The new season kick starts with a familiar feeling & story from previous years.. the " rebuild" had one player starting so surely needs to be better than that?

@@cjnovo992 I would like to see us sign an experienced CDM and a 10, I think creativity and someone pulling the strings behind Dessers will help a lot. We may need another winger for the LW. Overall though I feel good about the future for the team and trust and just know it will come together. Some of the guys without picking on anyone didn't have their best game, but you could see they were trying their best. I have every faith they will improve with sharpness and more games. We have a lot of really good players that just need a bit of love and encouragement. Even the ones who aren't the best can do better for us if we do that. My big prediction for this season is Dessers if he does stay will top the scoring charts in the league. Also in the CL desserd will be top scorer and golden boot winner.

Clement had a bad day today, persists with davies ahead of balogun which is baffling when balogun is better than him and souttar by a long way imo. He also took barron off for dowell when dio was the one tiring AND not at his best AND on a yellow AND Lawrence was towing a caravan by then. I agree. Diomande had a great honeymoon period and has completely gone to s-h-i-t. Look at his first instinct when he gets possession, always backwards, and he's so slow to react when he gets possession, he gets his pocket picked a lot of times in dangerous areas. He's also built like a stick.

The manager moans about injuries and knows how to fix them. Yet we have Raskin, Sterling, Cortes and Igamane injured. Barely a ball kicked and 4 out, 2 of which the new guy koppen brought in. Shit show. How long until ridvan, Matondo and Dowell are back with them?
Also, the manager softly blamed Cortes publicly for being being young and not reading his own body well. The manager should know, like Danilo he was injured last season for a long time and should bave taken the decision for him at half time as a precaution and had it fully looked at. You cannot bemoan injuries and then take silly risks with players. He threw Dujon under the bus last season in a nice way for being passionate and telling the truth. The guy seems to humiliate his own and throw them under the bus. I remember him pushing Cantwell as well. The guys a moron and I don't think the players are playing for him.

We should have been chasing the win, not playing for a draw. Danilo should have been on as part of a front 2 with 3 at the back. If fit enough to be named on the bench, he is fit enough to play. Also no faith in Propper by the manager. He should have started him if he is an improvement. He has been keeping himself fit. Why do we have to bed in for ages? He misses an opportunity and turns around laughing, if shankland was playing for us and you gave him that exact same opportunity dessers had when he cut back in and hit it straight at the keeper on the half volley, shankland scores that 9/10 times.

Why are we treating Hagi like this? I don't think the lad deserves it and it's of better quality than any CAM we have.
Certainly a poorer starting 11 than any of our games from last year. Obviously a lot of new players to come in but we have a lot of dead wood still hanging around.
We need to shift some of the biggest earners who's time has come and gone:
Hagi
Davis
Cantwell
Matondo
Tav
and we need at least 3 bits of quality added - a midfielder, a striker and centre-back.
My worry is even with these new players in - will we be any better than last season? Or will be still be relying on players like Wright and Dessers?

I am dissapointed about today result, but i still think Phil can be our man. Since he came in last year he done great with Mick B's shit team build, we don't have money for Phil to spend but still he has agreed to stay and carry out the long term job. Our main issue is the board and lack of investment. Riddvan was slated last year, unfortunately some players take time to adapt, we need to be patience. This will be a wasted season but we need to stay strong for the long game

Tav had some nice crosses that almost produced us a goal, there were also some early signs of understanding developing between him and Cerny. I think those two will make us lethal down that right hand side as the season goes.

Successful Rangers teams had guys who would run through walls for the cause. I don't see any signs of that from any of our current squad. Even the so called lesser players in our past successful squads had character and a will to win. We are absolute mince these days
As I have said before Clement is a FN donkey and a bad decision in a lengthening list of bad decisions by this board. Extending that contract was the cherry on the cake of bad decisions. Phil was lamenting Lundtsram not being here. Way to encourage Diomande and Barron. The same Lundstram that was slow, not good enough and a shambles last season. He rated Silva, when he was useless and kept picking him, he keeps picking Wright, Dowell, Lawrence, Davies and Souttar, Dessers as well as Tav. Who are all FN deadwood, that should have been gone between last season and this one. Our defence at CB is a mess. As well as RB. Our strikers are slow and our wing play is rubbish.
Big Phil, went on about lack of conditioning under Beale, and how he knew how to fix injuries. We are still FN getting them, not counting the bad luck like Raskins. So big Phils big preseason was guff. If we ran more etc, why are players blowing out their ass? They weren't that bad even under Beale.
There is no style of play other than shell the ball, play slow and hold too much possession without actually doing anything. Players stand off letting people come at them, near constantly and the defence has no organisation.
Igamane might end up being a good striker but, he was injured. How on earth did he pass a medical? Spending our only money available before selling on that. Mental stuff. When funds are limited you must prioritise immediate strengthening. The corker is as well Phil was bemoaning injuries then hom and koppen go ahead and sign an injured player. FFS. What a tube.
I got called out for calling them deadwood. Now fans are starting to wake up. The old guard held us back for too long and we have a lot of dross that needs clearing out.
I don't rate Cantwell but we get corkers like him and Todd have a great relationship, when he was pushing him last season and Todd's asked for a transfer out. He has Hagi that he won't give a clean slate, yet on the other hand he is open to Todd changing his mind. Why not Hagi? We need a 10 and he is our player.
Clement is Pedro bad, Le Guen bad. The board is just as bad and they can change the face interacting with fans but it is the same clueless bunch running it.
The set up Clement has, needs better execution,, so, hopefully better players will come in to do that. Dowell is garbage, Lawrence is too slow up front, Tav looks spent. You can tell some are out of shape( or not fit enough) thought defensively we weren’t too bad. But too narrow too many times. Tons of corners with the same end result. Still optimistic ( so long as new guys come in)

CJ knows football and maybe once Clement has had his turn he could have a shot at managing us. In the course of time it might be an idea to have a Scottish manager again. I say this as someone who saw his first game in 1966. Our problems really started with the board in ‘67 when they had a knee jerk reaction and got rid of Jim Forrest and George MacLean after Berwick. That cost us the Cup Winners Cup in ‘67 and then we had to sit back and watch Celtic win the European Cup and 9 in a row. We then lived thru the Murray/Advocaat years. Brilliant signings and great results but long term but we lived beyond our means. Our banishment to the bottom league as a result of financial mismanagement and Scottish League vindictiveness gave Celtic the league for another 9 times. We lost millions and gave them the opportunity to bank millions instead thru Champions League revenue. Basically the common denominator of this clusterfuck of an omnishambles situation is the gross mismanagement of successive boards. I know we have made big changes at board level recently but forgive me if I don’t hold my breath. I cannot understand why as one of the best supported clubs in the world that we don’t attract a billionaire with money to burn to get this once great club back to where we used to be. Until then CJ is going to be reporting the same old same old things every week. This is not negative it’s factual in my opinion. Someone of my age might not have many years left to see us reach the former heights but starting this season with 10 of the 11 players from last season does not bode well 😢
Could not agree more. Like yourself I have watched this great football club be triumphant over the years with a strong Scottish ethos & core to the team. We have been through the worst of times but Ali McCoist epitomised the spirit which never died despite the best efforts of Scottish football to drive us to extinction. We need the board to be actively seeking an investor who wants a vehicle which can bring success in Europe & at home with the money needed to support such success. For the moment it’s a pipe dream & I fear the future is not bright. Confidence in the management of our club has never been strong since Dave King stepped down & Stevie Gerrard abandoned ship. ..we are Rangers we have to fight on & turn this round. The injuries are a real concern & we need an in depth analysis/review as to what is going wrong in this situation. Is PC the right man for the job? The Celtic game will give us a pointer as to whether that decision comes sooner rather than later. You should get a sit down with clement and the squad and ask the various questions of the points youve made in the reveiw and see what they say. If i was a millionare id pay for it to happen . Did we have a Summer break? Feels like same old same old. When we bring on Dowell to try and win the game for us I know it’s going to be a long season. Holding on to some hope that we’ll bring a couple of experienced pros in over the next few weeks.
The decisions to not even have Cantwell and Hagi on the bench is baffling to me. As you say cj Hagi starred in the euros and was one of our best players a couple years back and although Cantwell wants to leave that doesn’t mean he should be left out entirely. I’m a big supporter of Clement but those decisions to exclude them is a huge mistake and very concerning.
Why would you want 2 players that don't want to be at our club on the bench, not good for team morale.

The usual subjects falling back to their jogging around the park and wanting to smoke a cigar after a 10 yard pass. No zip to the passing and 2nd to almost every ball. Rangers players need to have the highest work rate in the league. The biggest area for improvement is in their mental attitde and application.
What happened to the one and two touch football. Players hiding and not seeking out spaces. No pass and move. More like pass and cruise. That was the perfect reason to see why we must bring in Shankland because he brings team mates into the play.
Enjoyed that would watch again.

Exactly what I expected with Tav at RB and still captain, I bet Cellic will be at Title 56-57 by the time we get a squad together capable of catching em. I think you make a great point CJ, Hagi and TC sitting picking up wages both better than Lawrence. Quite a few big personalities not with the club anymore and the likes off Tav playing so poor. As a Celtic fan I’ve never understood why Hagi never gets a game for yous. I remember him playing in Ange’s first season and I thought you looked your best with him and a few other subs on because it got the stale old guard out, and brought in guys like Hagi who I always thought were better.
A team playing aimless and wayward passes, giving up so much space in the middle of pitch and so many defensive calamities and wasted chances up front.It's great to be back.
