Jimin was awarded by Cultural Conservation Society for having helped raise the status and aesthetic value of the korean fan dance globally because of how his performance here went viral that day Dec1, 2018, not just nationally but internationally. JIMIN is the only musician in korea’s history to recieve 3 national awards. At the age of 28 last year he became the sole recipient of the prestigious King of Kpop title. Also he is the first korean soloist to bag #1 in Billboard Hot 100.

Hello, I am the Iranian army. This performance and traditional Korean dance was because in 2018 bts performed on the billboard and Korean people hit them that you have forgotten your country's culture

You got me! hehe I watched all your BTS reactions and it seems you all (wife included) are very sympathetic and respectful. I'll be here to listen to your comments and answer your questions (if your BTS counselor didn't do that first, of course hehe).
E.i. Did she explain to you the use of the term Idol in Korea? It's like a superstar, but they are trained to be perfect, during exhaustive periods of dancing, singing, dieting, learning languages, exercising, etc. Most of the K-pop groups are formed for interpreters, I mean, they don't write. nor participate in the creation of a song. That's why BTS is different. All of them are songwriters, composers, and producers. So, even when they don't write a song, they participate in its creation.
The MV of this song is very psychodelic because they had been receiving complaints like: too colorful, too childish, too this, too that... so, they decided to take all of that to the extremes hehe.

KPOP Idol's perform on weekly music shows when they are debuting, or releasing new music. that is their competition. If you get first place in the show, you win an award and you can get sponsorship deals. There are numerous music shows in South Korea, and they do these shows during their promotional periods. BTS used to do 8 weeks (Suga said that in their documentary), and they currently will only do a couple weeks of award show performances. They win anyway if they aren't there. It's based on votes and numbers on charts.

BTS doesn't use autotune, their voices are genuine. They sing and dance at the same time after to build up their lung capacity. In the 2019 awards ceremony they had a 40 minute show. That's because other top groups had dropped out because they knew BTS would win so there was extra time,

Suga and Agust D MV or album review with lyric videos would be great because his concert movie is coming out now.
This MMA show is impressive and popular, but IMO the overproduction & camerawork distracts from their singing and dancing prowess. Fun, but it always makes me crave behind the scenes and more raw (= still highly polished in BTS world) performances. Thanks for your thoughtful reactions!

Hi, nice reaction, ty. Love this song and MV. So happy u love it too. I hope u check out the MV. The live stage is usually based on it. You should also check out the remix with Nicki Minaj too. I am May 2019 Army and I still have not seen all the live's for this song. I deal with anxiety and depression. And BTS just calms me. They make me so happy. Pls watch DKDKTV explanation for Idol. You know this MV needs explaining, lol. A few things that were not mentioned were 1. Suga wore the Snow White sweater because he was told he was too pale. So he celebrates that. 2. Jimin holds a fan and walks provocatively with it in one part of the MV. Jimin was criticized for being too feminine. Rolls eyes. So he is showing he does not care. He loves himself and he will do as he pleases. 3. JHope wearing a bugs bunny shirt also has meaning. Sadly, i have forgotten what it was. They used traditional Korean instrument to drive the beat of Afro House music.
They used West African print material (Ankara) for their suite designs!
And they incorporated popular African dances into their choreography! The "Gwara Gwara" is the dance move they are doing with the knee isolation and arm in the air and was first popularized by Rhianna. I LOVE THIS VIDEO and THE SONG!!!
You should watch 'Idol explained by a Korean' DKDKTV. They break down the lyrics, the visuals, the clothes, and cultural references we would never know otherwise. I highly recommend watching/reacting to them. They know what they're talking about. They also have 'explained' for 'UGH', 'DDAENG', 'Daechwita', and others. Love their channel.

I'm from south africa so it was amazing seeing them use south african influenced beats in the song and doing the gwarra gwarra (a dance move that originated in south africa) in their choreography. The move at 16:16 is the gwarra gwarra for those who are curious.

Believe me when I tell you that Idol is one of the most sarcastic songs I have ever seen in a kpop group.
You don't like the supposed CGI or special effects
You don't like performances
You don't like the videos loaded the autotune
Well, this song in the lyrics and the video makes fun of you and gives you more than what you say you hate
Also for those who say that idols are not artists
This song is incredible, in addition to the Korean cultural references, the clothes, the colors, everything is an invitation to throw a party to love and value ourselves.

Things they don't explain:
This whole video is a clap back at criticisms they received as well as celebrations of their uniqueness.
RM was criticized for using snapchat filters in his livestreams, so he uses them here, saying "I know who I am, I know what I want, and I'm never gonna change."
Suga was criticized for being too pale - wears a Snow White Sweater and pulls on it while saying "I love myself"
j-hope called too skinny and lanky, like Bugs Bunny - Dances in Bugs Bunny Sweater with skinny inflatable tube guy
Jimin called too feminine - dances seductively with traditional female Korean feather dance fan while saying "I'm so fine wherever I go"
Taehyung criticized for "dressing like a grandpa" for his love of classic fashion - so he goes full grandpa with a goofy print shirt and suspenders and glasses and does this grandpa suspenders dance.
The Jin "incident" was when king size condoms were spotted in his room in a livestream and everyone lost their minds. LOL
Criticized for having videos that were "too colorful" they used ALL THE COLORS here.
Criticized for using green screen, even though they are actually famous for their practical sets and effects, they went all out with the green screen in this MV.

One thing I disagree with DKDKTV on is the clothing comment at the end. If you watch XCeleste's explanation video you'll see that they've actually stuffed the MV with things they've been criticised for like specific shirts, glasses, being too pale (Suga's Snow White t-shirt), being lanky (J-Hope and Bugs Bunny), etc. I highly recommend watching it even off screen because she focuses on the group related details so the two explanations hardly overlap and on that part she knows a lot more about them than DKDKTV does. The amount of details is honestly astonishing. 🤯

The kore (whale) can actually also refer to their song Whalien52 and to Korea. 💜 We are the purple whales, after all, that were finally heard.
The tokki (rabbit) / talking is also their usual wordplay. Both are implied at the same time.

They cropped this video too much, you’re not getting the head to feet action, not seeing the full effect. You need to find another video to really see it and enjoy it.
