Episode 5: time to reflect in Gijon, as we wait for a weather window to get down to Madeira

- Having crossed the Bay of Biscay from Plymouth, we are now in Gijon, northern Spain. Our intention is to leave as soon as the weather is suitable for us to continue south to Madeira and the Canary Islands. The clock is ticking and our EU Schengen visa days are diminishing. We had set out late in the season but we still thought that we could get to the Canaries in time for us to then go across the Atlantic in December.
However, the storms kept us in Gijon, and the only weather window we saw was during the time we had flown home to Islay for the birth of our seventh grandchild. But being retired means that we don't have appointments to keep or timetables to stick to. So we used the time to reflect on our experiences, lessons learned, and simply enjoyed being Spain.
We finally left Gijon on 28th December 2023.

Congratulations on the arrival of Josie, just nine days before the arrival of our first grandchild 😀
Great to see another video but your mugshots in just about every frame gets a bit tiresome! I know that over a few days you might not realise but condensed into 28 minutes it’s seems like a Chinese travelogue (the Chinese like to appear like statues in every frame!) Anyway enough of the criticism and looking forward to the sights of your adventures Blessings Nick from NZ
We were a bit concerned about that so your comment is duly noted! Thank you.
