Amazing observations! This was a very interesting watch. I've also always thought that this song was about two sides "fighting", with the gentle side (Björk's voice, the harps, and the flutes) gradually becoming harder and harder to follow as the song progresses. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I've taken the ending as Björk accepting that you have to embrace grief / loss in order to heal and move on (echoing the sentiment of Vulnicura), hence the beats ultimately drowning out everything else. It's a very "cinematic" song if that makes sense, it's almost easier to imagine visually than to follow it sonically. She never fails to impress me!
Arca is such a production gemius, how he creates such lush soundscapes that can be both relaxing or completing unsettling. I'm hoping his next project will drop this year, it's been a few since his self titled album.
@@valentinovigovv i like to make them but for some reason people whatch half of it and leave the video. I am thinking in new ways to let the video more enjoyable.

Thanks for this breakdown, it's brilliant. The intelligence is very obvious when you listen but to hear someone really breakdown what's going on takes it that bit further.
Such an interesting analysis - I'd never really thought of it as a 'battle' between nature and technology before, but now whenever I listen to it, it makes total sense. Amazing video!
Interesting observations! I already liked your earlier videos where you pointed out all the instruments and sounds in a song but your comments here made this one even more interesting. I'm sure I'll be listening Utopia with a different mindset from now on.
Thanks for making this video! I love tearing songs into bits and pieces to "figure them out" as I put it, and Losss comes across as such a mess! It really isn't though and once you know all the parts it plays out so beautifully. Rabit, Björk, and Arca really knocked this song out of the park.
What about making a similar analysis on a Medúlla track? It’s definitely my favourite Björk’s record. It would be interesting to understand her underlying work with voice samples
Augusto yeah, I saw the Oceania video after leaving the comment. Mh, I’d like to see your opinion about Mouth’s Cradle. I’m not a musician, but -as a listener- I’m completely in love with that track.

você pode fazer um vídeo para courtship? sou leigo quando o assunto é teoria e estrutura musicais, mas courtship me soa tão dissonante quanto losss e sue me, porém de uma maneira muito menos "sombria" e combativa. estou falando besteira?
Amazing work!!! This "all over the place" melodies is what i liked less in Utopia. I think it's beautiful, and i love some songs, but it's the album that i listened about three times. Coming from a huge fan it's kinda a let down.
It takes longer than usual to fully sink into it. It's interesting, though, cause I think her vocal melodies are simpler than ever. Look at “Body Memory” (my favorite from the album): the verses are the same melodic phrase looped, the chorus is the same. She's given different priorities, perhaps, to the musical elements in this album, so it can be a bit jarring. I listened to it for about three weeks straight once it came out and, while I might only really like about half of the songs, I think it's an incredible achievement. And structure-wise it's a three-act story far more complex and coherent than I've ever seen from Björk. What I mean is: if you give it more chances, it will not disappoint.
@@jondelosarcos5983 I agree the melodies are simple and looped i think it give a bit of coehsion for the unusual strutures with wild rythms. I mean is less material to process.
In my defense thats the only information i "copy and paste" from a website. It said it was in 3/4 or 6/8. I analysed the music in a program and it aligned with the 3/4 grid. It was in a very slow tempo.
@@augusto7681 , didn't mean to attack you, but the time signature is one of the basic things of music structure, and it's almost impossible to confuse triple meter with others. Listen to any waltz you can find (which is the best example of 3/4) and you'll see/hear that there is nothing similar in rhythmic structure of Losss. Btw pretty much any time signature will align the 3/4 grid if you choose suitable bpm. Again, I don't criticize, just want to clarify. You do a good job, this kind of videos help people to look at songs in a new way
many people complain about this in courtship too, but it sounds completely structured to me, it only needs to be heard. simmilar things happens between soloist and orchestra in classical music too
