I love March Madness!!! This is the most amazing time of the year. In just these 2 days we the fans have seen it all. Upsets, buzzer beaters, beat downs and nail biters. If "your team" is still dancing there's a reason for that....
Florida hardly makes it anymore, they’ve been an up and down team since Billy Donovan left. Granted he may have left a year too late but still, it’s been a struggle. Even so, it doesn’t take away my passion for March Madness. Florida still at least has bragging rights as the last team to repeat as national champions though
Agree, but Penny better recruit 2or more 3pt assassins and a serious Pt guard in the AAC. Coach and Dwight Howard both lived through obsolescence in the NBA... from dominant non-shooting Centers and slashing forwards... to has-beens in the face of Splash brothers, Dame and Donovan even Brandon and D'Aaron and D'Angelo. Otherwise they'll (Memphis) will get STEPPED ON by FAU & #2 #3 in the AAC, year after year after year. Like major-league baseball after they raised the mound... Sink or swim..
Penny's point guards fell apart in those last few seconds. Also, everyone was running away from the poor guy bring the ball up... See, this what happens in big games... Nerves, exhausted and you just don't execute on point..
March Madness is mad, isn't it? A team that is trailing with 6 seconds to go in its opening tournament game ends up going all the way to the Final Four.
I’m rooting for my owls but i’m not gonna lie some of those calls were bad. Penny Hardaway had every right to be upset. FAU has got to tidy up their three point shooting if they want to keep on winning. In the first ten minutes they were moving the ball really well and it was working. Good game Memphis and see you next season in the AAC!
They got a definite winnable game to get to the sweet 16...I had them upsetting Purdue but now they gotta just beat fdu..I feel good about putting them in sweet 16 now
I had no horse in this race but Memphis was constantly getting away with hacking under the basket with no calls. Though overall, the reffing in this tournament has been abysmal. Par for the course. Refs alter games whether folks want to acknowledge it or not.
You don't know basketball Memphis did not have possession of the ball. You have to have possession to call time-out. Classlessness Penny Hardaway one of the worst coaches in college.
Once again, you have a timeout, Memphis. Just like Virginia. Instead, you choose to dribble it out and ultimately throw the ball away once inbounded to FAU. Got exactly what you kids deserve. A loss. Understand situational basketball next time. Don't make that bad pass. Call the timeout and regroup.
He knows Houston was no where near 100% with their star player out and their leading point guard having a bad knee. Houston practically gave them that win and used it as a way to give their freshman more experience before the NCAA tournament which of course, made Memphis upset.
Anfernee Hardaway needs to be fired from Memphis for allowing his son to impersonate a division 1 basketball player. Hardaway can’t coach to save his life.
Lol, total choke job. Had the ball and the lead with 10 seconds to go. Turned the ball over, gave up GW bucket with 2 seconds to go. Failed to rebound FAU’s final 8 missed shots.
I can see the pressure and expectations from Penny's Tigers, especially with another Hardaway on his team... You can see the sentiment from the announcers on 3 separate channels wanting a familial story to come out of Memphis... but FAU is a major 3point shooting team with lots of offense... Memphis follows more of the hustle and stop and fast break model like their coach... But that's already obsolete even in intramural basketball,.. So a 2nd(or 3rd?) fail-fail for Penny's team again...?
Ive rewatched the final seconds quite a couple times; was the timeout being called during? Could you tell me what time on UA-cam the timeout is being called, maybe I’m looking at the wrong time/person.
Memphis lost this game more than FAU won it. 2 bonheaded plays where they should've called a timeout. They were crying that they weren't granted a timeout (refs called jumpball instead, with the possession in favor of FAU). If they didn't get the timeout during the loose ball, why didn't they call a Timeout after FAU made the go ahead basket? And what was Alex Lomax thinking when Williams was open to his left for the shot? I feel bad for Penny. His Players arguing on the Bench and looking like they were disrespecting their Coach is what changed the tide.
You are spot on. I believe they should have been granted the time out but the implosion on the bench is where I knew they were not going to win this game 😢
2 lower seeded teams advanced today and FAU advanced as well. 13 games went chalk even with some close finishes. Round of 32 is gonna be interesting if it goes chalk again

That wasn’t a legitimate win. The referees pick the winner of the game, Memphis call timeout, but they won’t review it .I love how they don t show on the highlights, the blown call by the referees that decided to game and blew the call and the game. It happened with five minutes left. The refs blew a call with a shot clock violation and gave FAU free 3 points. Then to top that one off with five seconds, left Memphis calls time out and they don’t give them one they give the ball to FAU to win.

With most of these guys gone next year, I guess we'll have to see what Penny Hardaway will do going forward. This was still a great season for us, and congrats on the win Florida Atlantic, y'all earned it. I'm sad we lost, but I can see many more NCAA Tournament appearances and wins down the road with Hardaway at the helm. As my family would say, go Tigers!!
@MADE NEW FAU is joining our new conference? I actually did not know that. I can tell this is going to be a fun rivalry for the next few years. With the AAC losing Houston and Cincinnati next season, Memphis will face little regular season challenge in getting to the Tournament. That being said, the brand will likely suffer from playing in what will be a single-bid conference. Any chance of joining the Big East as UConn did previously?
I don't agree it's a players game in very high percentage looks like FAU not an upset same quality level of Memphis left there game vs Houston could not regain it
