Excellent video. Good sound, great colour, great positions/locations and editing. You are well skilled at the craft. Very pleasant watching and ,,,, the weather was glorious. Will watch again. Apprentice your efforts, thanks.
Excellent sequence - well done on the extra effort and planning to get the key locations - Dainton Hemerdon Swindon and the Paddington arrival was the icing on the cake! Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely smashing video mate and great effort to get out for it over the 2 days I’m so sad that I missed it but I’m gonna go for the double header up there in September. Regards, James
It was a fantastic weekend. So many memorable moments. Probably one of my favourite videos that I’ve made to date! Sadly i won’t be doing another one like this until I’ve passed my driving test, hopefully before Christmas.
@@blackcountrysteamvideos8021 Best of luck with your driving test, it will certainly make things easier for you to get to remote locations for filming - not easy when relying on public transport.
Luke, You captured the very essence of this challenges that this loco was put through on the Devon Banks. You were obviously camping at Hemerdon 😂 Regards, John
Great footage. Three questions: 1. Were they low on water? 2. Were the brakes dragging? 3. Did the driver have her in full forward gear? It's just unusual what happened and I'm curious about this happened at all. I'm Australian and love steam working hard and they do on this grade, but they make it.
@@CollinBlack-j1y thank you. The second part of the trip started at plymouth. 7029 had been stabled on Laira Depot overnight so tender and water carrier would’ve been full. Hemerdon bank isn’t far from Plymouth. Overhanging vegetation knocked the butterfly clips on the rear coaches (BR mk2 coaches) which cause the brakes to drag. I wouldn’t be able to comment on how the engine was being driven I’m afraid. Hope this helps.
15:08 this reminds everyone of 1964 when pendennis castle worked the Ian Allan special tour to Plymouth which is 60 years ago
Magnificent, the arrival at Paddington very emotive after all these years.
It attracted a large crowd very quickly after arriving. Was great to witness
