Training in a big company especially SM Ent., you need to fight your way to debut. Lay shared this: at first there were 120 male trainees then half were picked until it was reduced to 12. Those 12 were picked to debut as EXO. In Suho’s case, he trained for almost 7 years. He was supposed to debut with Shinee together with his closest friends Minho & Jonghyun but, during practice he injured himself. He couldn’t debut. Imagine how hard & tiring it is for him but thankfully, he became EXO’s great leader. But, it’s not how people say it when it comes to big company groups; that they debuted with a golden spoon. They didn’t. They need to do well. People even named EXO before as SM’s biggest failure. Imagine their first fansign with only few fans attending. EXO also shared that before that from pre-debut until 1-2 yrs after, their food’s not much. There are 12 kimbaps and only 2 kimbaps have tuna in it. You’re lucky if you get that one. With EXO’s hardwork and talent, they hit big starting from Growl. 2013 is their peak year. They had lots of schedules at that time. Then came their black years: 2014 & 2015. The first former member is Kris who left during their concert preparations. It was the time near their concert. Fans & even the members where shocked. We do not know if he has closure with the members just like Luhan & Tao who left after. With Kris leaving, the other members need to practice again & again all of it while having their hearts broken. At that time also, dispatch revealed that Baekhyun & Taeyeon (Girl’s Generation) are dating. All hell broke loose and hate were given to both of them. Baek’s doing his musical and only few fans watched. KAI & LAY who are the Main Dancers of EXO get injuries A LOT. Since they are the main dancers, they push themselves too much up to their limits. They are perfectionist when it comes to dancing. Lay even attached sandbags through his waist while dancing to improve during his training. That’s why after debut, he acquired waist injury. He can’t do surgery since he has hemophilia. Kai’s ankle injury is deep. Despite their injuries, those two still performs. The one you saw who can’t stand backstage was Lay. He’s injured but still danced. Kai did a Levi’s commercial & danced at the rooftop the night before their Olympics performance and his ankle injury resurfaced. He still performed his solo & danced with the group. Fans didn’t know it. I hope people will know that even though EXO’s a successful & established group, they didn’t became like that through nothing. They endure those hard times and still did their best. They have not only talents but passion to what they do. They deserve what they have & what they become now. They are not the Nation’s Pick for nothing. Sorry for this long comment. I hope you guys will be able to read this coming from a fan since 2012. I know my narrative’s lacking but I hope I showed the message I want you guys to know about EXO. Never did I regret being their fan.
Oh mah gawd, reading this just made me crying like a baby and everything what u said is right bc me too..i just want to say if i'm so proud being an exoL since 2012 too, watching them since debut and everything what their going through when the member leaving and dating scandal etc just making me more love this precious boys (Sorry for my bad english)😭😭❤
EXO were being called as "SM's first mistake" back in 2012. Everyone mocked, critized and doubted them. People like to call EXO privileged just cause they don't know all the struggles they went through all these years. From being mocked, losing Kris few weeks before their first concert in 2014, losing Luhan in same year, then losing Tao in 2015. Just cause they are from BIG3 doesn't mean they had it all easy. EXO earned their success with hard work, dedication and never ending talent. Not because of company's work. Despite being one of the biggest groups in the world now they stayed humble, down to earth. They always greet senior and junior groups and mention other groups in award speeches and tell them how amazing they are. I remember when EXO stood next to hole on stage on end year shows such as Gayo Daejun, risked own safety to protect others from falling in that hole on stage that was really dangerous. I'm proud of EXO for being just incredible humans. They got my heart and nothing could ever change that. Thank you for EXO reactions. We really appreciate all the nice words you are saying. Can't waif for next reactions 😊
You’re right, once you get to know groups from the big 3, you can see they’ve had intense struggles of their own. Small companies might not have enough money to feed their idols and trainees, meanwhile the big 3 have enough money, but won’t use it. For a couple years after debut, EXO members only got paid twice a year, and before that, when they still hadn’t had any success, they would go perform at farming festivals and got paid in bags of rice. SM also has their famous “slave contracts” which last 10 years or longer, and have literally been illegal for years, but they found a loophole with EXO, so EXO’s contract is 3 years longer than the maximum 7 years that’s now allowed. EXO recently went on a show called Radio Star where they talked about some of their struggles and complaints about SM. When they were trainees, they weren’t allowed to have cell phones and had to strategically ration their food, but trainees and rookies nowadays are allowed to have phones and always have enough to eat. However, now that EXO is SM’s most successful group, they have different struggles, such as SM not spending any money on them because they feel like they don’t have to. EXO used to go overseas to shoot their music videos, but now they’re lower budget and always within Korea, and when EXO asked why, SM said it was for a minimalist aesthetic. This promotional cycle, EXO-Ls were actually surprised with how generous the promotion was (they went on 2 tv shows and performed at 3 music shows) because we’re used to the bare minimum. EXO are clearly done with SM’s mistreatment and have said when it’s time for their contracts to be renewed, they’ll stay together no matter what, whether it’s under SM, another company, or their own company.
@@subilynnoweight2090 EXO are considered one of the richest kpop groups they GET MONEY since 2015 (i mean they have expensive cars rings etc) but they could get even More if they had their own company
Do u know that during their first fansigning event only 18 people was there, and now they have thousands and millions of fans who supported EXO and I'm one of them🥰 I'm forever Exo-L luv u boys😍😍😘🤗
And just because they came from a big company doesn't mean they get things easy. There are a lot of hardships too just like any other artists, and the pressure of debuting in a big company, you must do good, must became like this and that, it's really hard also.
There were like 120 male trainees in SM when EXO debuted and just think about how hard they trained just to be picked to be in the group, i can't even imagine how stressful it was for boys who are in their 10s. Exo told us recently when they were trainees, they ate the cheapest meals and the same meals all the time(SM is a big company and they were still eating so poorly) and this continued until after 2 years from their debut (The weirdest thing is Growl was a HUGE hit, SM even bought a new building with it's profit yet Exo continued living poorly for 1 year even after Growl) .. When Exo debuted they were called SM's biggest mistake.. Like you said, it's is a really big pressure to debut from a big company. They lost 3 members, most people say the most popular members, everybody thought Exo was over. Members must've thought that too, they were depressed, scared and sad yet they still continued performing like nothing happened. And it's amazing even after they lost not 1, not 2 but 3 members, they continued getting bigger and bigger, they became the most popular group in South Korea and Asia. Also in 2014-2015 Baekhyun was dating Taeyeon from Girls Generation and they got so much, SO MUCH hate from the fans, fans even started a petition for Baekhyun to leave Exo.. Also they're known to have the worst sasaengs(psycho fans) and they have to deal with that too.. I can go on for days about their hardships but it's so long already 😂 My Exo-L friends correct me if i'm wrong about anything! English isn't my first language but i tried my best 😂
Guys you should react to EXO ROAD TO LEGENDS because it tells all the story you are asking like what happened to 2014 and stuff their struggles during debut until now
Did you know that EXO was once named as SM entertainment's biggest failure? On their first fanmeeting there were only few fans who attended. I don't know the exact number but amore or less than 20.
They were treated as a group with only beautiful faces and nothing else by the public, exo-ls were one of the most hated and mistreated fandoms. Exo is a popular and at the same time underrated by their talents group, not so many people know that they have an amazing discography, they always try different concepts and various musical genres, they are not scared to experiment, and, may I say, that their r&b songs are masterpieces. Exo is very humble group that is known for modesty in the kpop industry, they always thanked us, exols, even when they won their +100th award, they've spoken numerous times about junior groups and complimented them, they praiced them for popularizing kpop as a whole. Exo breaked so many records for 8 years and they're still big even after 3 members leaving and 2 dating "scandals", I really respect them. Jongdae said "there is no such thing as competition in music", now, sadly, not just kpop, but the whole musical industry is about the views/sales/numbers, about being at the top...people tend to forget that music can heal hearts, speak, what cannot be expressed, brings out emotions. There is no such thing as limit in music and that's so important and beautiful..
I would love seeing you guys get into SHINee. They also are in SM as well and debuted in 2008. They are close friends with EXO because the members trained together. Suho, EXO's leader, was even supposed to debut in SHINee at first and Kai and SHINee's Taemin have been best friends since their childhood years.
It was only Lay who talked about their pre debut in details ...EXO don't say much about their hard times or their trainee days...until recently Lay opened up about how they got chosen to be in EXO It was like a survival show bit much harder and "unhuman" (esp that there were no cameras) There were like +100 trainees competing to be a part of the 12 members in EXO only those boys were able to do it After all the strict SM training methods WITH NO MERCY they were able to make it in to EXO (the legendaey group that Lee Soo Man planned for like years) SM also does a evaluation to pick the main vocalists (only Chen D.O and Baekhyun werz able to pass as Main vocals and being a main in SM means YOU'RE AN EXTREMELY STRONG VOCALIST) but after EXO debut in the first year they were called SM first flop or failure they went on a year hiatus right after they debuted which is not good for a rookie group and people thought they will disband bit they came back in 2013 with Wolf and got their 1st music show win and broke so many records and made their first hit GROWL (Ps. Based on what Key a member of SHINee said only GROWL incomes built the new SM building they revived the physical sells after 12 years There are so muxh to tell about EXO's history but I'll definitly recommend some videos about their career the fandome also the relationship between EXO and EXO Ls
Facts for you / Some crazies actually broke into their dormitories and stole DO's brief and tried to sell them while some recorded one of them singing in the shower and other crazies did things like slapping them and verbally abusing them.. There was also this one girl that followed Suho everywhere with a sign that said " Rape me" (there's a video of him getting upset on stage just by seen her) Kris left right before their concert tour and award show..He was EXO-M's leader and a main rapper they had to overwork themselves to rearrange everything in time, they fainted a lot on/off stage back then. Next was Luhan the same year, after the concert tour. Then it was Tao right after 'Call Me Baby' promotion. All 3 were chinese members from EXO-M leaving only Lay, Chen and Xiumin in the sub-unit. EXOM and K merged, now it's just EXO and new sub-units The reason as to why they left haven't been officially disclosed, but there are a lot of rumors and hints... They were obviously overworked and mistreated. They kept fainting and getting hurt without having any time to rest. Krishantao(members who left) had health issues and believed they wouldn'd be able to do what they really wanted in this industry and all sued SMentertainment after leaving for x-reasons. From what I've gathered, they weren't able to win and have to pay a percentage of their yearly income to SM until the end of their original contract wich is in two years. Yes SM does 10 years long slave contracts. Anyways, Exo were both overworked by the compagny and overworked by themselves.. You can just take a look a Lay or Kai, they have collected a number of physical health issues from their trainee days until now. Damage LAY has done to himself for his career: -did a surgery (neccesary for him to sing) on his vocal chords even though he could have died in the process because of his illiness (hemophilia) -attached heavy sand bags to his waist and danced 7 hours a day and did so for years, he now has bad back and waist problems and has been hospitalised multiple times because of it. there are other issues but he doesn't talk about these things he wish to show us only the perfect end result, it doesn't matter what he did to get there if we're proud and happy... his words not mine. As for KAY, he probably managed to break everything that could be broken in his body.. He started dancing when he was 8, had both ankle ligaments injuried and is currently suffering from 4 disc problems, even through they hurt, he doesn't rest to heal.. nope too easy... he just takes painkillers and says " I can do it." They're all like that and are more or less open about it. I can't imagine how strong they have to be mentally for them to bear all these burden. They've been at war with themselves for years. I'm afraid that because of their burning passion they'll end up in wheelchairs at 40. (english isn't my first language, correct me if there's any mistake)
I think most of the people think that way, just because you came from a big company it doesn't mean you're privilege. EXO has been working so hard since their debut and never stop doing it. I really appreciate EXO for their music but I appreciate them for the kind of people they are too. They have a beautiful hearts and they always teach us to fight for our dreams and encourage us to never give up and the most important thing that I've learned from them it's that when you're on top, always be humble. We can't forget where we come from and how did we get there ❤️ Thank you for react to EXO and give them the opportunity to know them like the humans they are
They were named the biggest mistakes of sm yet they became the biggest money earner for sm (which is all they care about ) and can you please react to more music videoss
thank you guys for this it always make me cry and warm my heart to see and feel their strong bond! Even with this much achievements they have stayed humble through it all and have never looked down on other groups in fact Suho doesnt only promotes EXO he promotes the whole kpop industry! HUMBLE KINGS TT TT TT Thank you guys pls watch the second part and then EXO ROAD TO LEGENDS itll explain everything you guys want to understand regarding their struggles.
I watched a tv show that had JYP as their guest. JYP has a very strict schedule. Like he really takes good care of his body, very strict diet, what he eats, he exercises regularly.
Gosh I’m new to EXO but I stan GOT7 and people always say they are from the big 3 they have everything easy but honestly every idol work so hard during traine and also after debuting, and they are also exposed to the critics of being from they big 3 every expecting so much from them and people always comparing to they seniors. I just hope one day people realize everything they say affect the idols life.
Thank you, really apprecite your reaction and your opinion. This boys deserve more recognition and appreciation, among this years many people missconception them. Many people their succesfull is because of their look and their big agency. They receive so many prejudice even before people barely know them, many people are too blind too see their talent.
"Just bcs they're from a BIG company, it doesn't come with much hardships" A lot of people misunderstands this. They suffer the same thing as the ones from small companies. It's harder to debut cause big companies has a lot of trainees and higher standards. Netizens criticize everything they do cause they are from big companies. One small mistake can end their whole career and their companies won't even hesitate bcs they have other grps. They're overwork and sometimes not even getting good treatments.
Right. A big company means higher competition to be chosen as trainees and even after that, they still need to go through higher competition to be picked up as a debut group.
Thank you so much for your reaction and understanding to this video and EXO. These videos really only share about 20-35% of what happened. EXO have been through heck and back.
Exol are the strongest fandom and EXO is the strongest group and no one can deny that Cause whole kpop industry knows what EXO and exols had been through a lot. From OT12, OT11, OT9, OT8 and so many issues but still holding to each other's hand. That's why I'm proud to be an exol💕
EXO are not a group and we are not their fans. We are all family. They have gone through a lot of hardships that make them strong and who they are now today. I am beyond proud for them. I remember people calling them the SM biggest mistake and laugh at their superpowers concept then theor career just blow those people! I live them so so much!
2013(when EXO really blew up)-2015 & even a good bit of 2016 was when EXO was probably the most overworked to the point where we were pretty often seeing members get light-headed or out right collapsing. Several members also had injuries or health risk that were clearly not being given proper attention. Kris, the first member to leave, apparently developed a heart condition that he was not allowed medical leave for. Luhan, the second member to leave, has severe acrophobia & he was constantly being made to fly to the point he was sick all the time and reportedly collapsing backstage at concerts. Tao, the last of the three to leave, his father posted a public letter pleading for his son to leave because he had sustained injuries (mostly to his leg/ankle/foot & back) that were not being given time for proper medical recovery. And those are just the three that left!~ The extra training Lay mentioned during his trainee period? He attached weighted bags to his body; he was already staying past closing at the company every day & running up and down stairs while practicing his singing when he couldn't find an open treadmill-.- The weighted bags gave him lasting injuries; he has flare ups pretty often... Those are just some of the struggles SM pushed EXO members to perform through, and other members had severe injuries just as trainees!~ Hell, we just found out not long ago Chanyeol had to have surgery on some vocal nodules he developed; we didn't even know until well after he had recovered that it was even a thing for him...
about the overworking thing, they always want to try their best and push themselves... but with sm as a whole they’re known to overwork their idols a lot. nct for example( i know more about them sorry i’m sort of a new exol), they took mark, a teenage boy, put him in 3 different units and had him have comeback after comeback... now he’s in superm and is still being overworked. he even said before that his schedule is super packed. taeyong just the other day at the jingle ball performed with an injury and was seen limping after the show. i don’t know the full extent but SM is probably one of the worst companies out there :/ the bigger company’s are usually the worst. plus there’s just a whole shit ton of stuff they’ve done as well that would take a while to explain you can probably find threads about specific situations on twitter
Many people assume they got their popularity because of their visual and the back up of their big agency, a lot of them refused to see or acknowledge how talented they are because of that assumption. Even after 3 members leave, dating scandal ( in kpop world idol dating is a big thing, sometimes could ruin their career ), lack of promotion, mistreatment by their own agency, defamation left and right but they still strong on their position.
Not exaggerating but EXO is literally the group of 3rd gen who suffered the most. After the debut they were named SM's biggest mistake. They used to get paid with the sack of rice instead of money for a long long time. Only few handful of people attended their first fansign. They lost 3 very important members back to back. Had two dating scandals during their earlier time in the career. Got mistreated from their own company (still getting). Do you know SM is the only company who pays their artist the least amount of the net profit? EXO suffered the most but they never tried to sell their son stories for pity or attention. They rarely showed us what they went through. They're the strongest.
Honestly if we look back and see. There have never been a time a where we can say that they have this because of the big 3 privilege that so called privilege is/was never for Exo. Even now when one can imagine their infinite success must think that sm must have made them their first priority but they still are the last.
Plus they never really got a secure fanbase till 2015-2016 ish. In 2013 exo actually got a lot of backlash for growl, with many general public saying they didn't deserve the daesangs they received. This coupled with back to back 'scandals' in 2014 lead to the majority of their own fans actually turning into exo anti's. Everyone was almost certain the group was going to disband at this point. Dark times indeed.
Exo went through alot. Kris and Luhan left in 2014. Kris english speaker, exo-m leader. Luhan the center and visual. Tao, main dancer, left in 2015. Baekhyun and Kai's dating scandal. Despite everything, they still managed to stay at the top.
EXACTLY!!! A lot of people are saying that EXO debuted in SM (which is the top korean entertainment) means they had it easy. DEFINITELY NOT TRUE. Isn’t it more difficult because you have to compete with many talented trainees and SM would only pick the best ones to debut?? The idols who are fit to represent their company?? I hate when people say there’s such thing as “Big 3 privilege” 🙄 Just recently Baekhyun said after debut they only kimbap. 12 kimbap for each members and only 2 of those rolls have tuna. IMAGINE they were eating that for 2-3 years after debut even if they were already million sellers! They even lost 3 members and if that happened to another group, I bet their popularity won’t last. Really. I hope people will stop discrediting their struggles .
Big 3 artists especially EXO are always being criticized for having privilege and that their companies do everything for them. But that's not true at all. Yes, they already have the edge of being in a big company but the process of getting there is really difficult. 1. Getting into a big company is honestly a huge achievement already. In auditions, there are thousands of aspiring trainees that wants to be a part of a big company (obviously bigger chances of becoming successful) and all of you are competing for a few spots. 2. Becoming a trainee is not a guarantee that you will debut. Big companies have a lot of trainees and they all go through rigorous trainings and evaluations to see who can be the next representative of that company. 3. The process of choosing the members of a group. As companies evaluates their trainees they can see which ones are ready for debut and which ones aren't. For EXO, in order to get the final 12 members, all the male trainees were evaluated over and over again until they completed the 12 members that debuted. 4.But even after debuting, success is not guaranteed. The high expectations and criticisms will always be there for idols from the Big 3. If the expectations are not met, they would be called as the failure of the company. 5.Just because they debuted from a big company it doesn't mean that they have a luxurious life. Baekhyun even said that when they debuted they only ate kimbap for like a year. They have to work hard for everything that they have. 6.Lastly, Big 3 artists, whenever they achieve an award, will always be questioned for their achievements. Some fans would say that their company bought the award or that the company manipulated something in order to reach the top which completely invalidates the hard work these idols have put into their songs and performances.
EXO had so many strugles: they had to fight for their position in the group, they had to go through the process of losing members 3 times at the peak of their career, they were heavily critized before growl for their weird concept but then when they became famous they had every day a hate post in koreans pages. The amount of hate posts that EXO got since their debut is insane and the only reason is cause they were from SM. Thanks to that they couldnt go to variety shows cause everything they did or say was a reason to hate on them. The group is almost at their 8th year since debut and is still considered a top group and that is strange in the kpop world, and the reason is cause the fandom loves these boys who gave us all their talent and best years of their lifes to us, going through so manny happy and sad moments together. As a fan I am grateful that you did take your time to react to this with respect. Thank you so much.
I'm glad that you're aware about "It's not because they're from big company that they will achieve things easly". Haters always say, and they don't want to understand that idols from big company have their struggles too. Yes, they have that "privilege". But to have that "privilege", they need to be picked in the debut group, and I think we can EASILY imagine how difficult would be to debut in a really big company. SM is known for overwork their idols (actually it's not just them but they're the most famous one), they treat their idols literally like a slave. In EXO's case is even worse, they finally had their hit with the song Growl, and ofc SM saw how EXO had became popular, they started to promote them more. HOWEVER, when the first 2 members left, SM looked like they didn't care about EXO's feelings and continued to overwork them and even in that situation EXO did their works like nothing had happen. But as you can see in some of these moments on that video they looked VERY exhausted, and when the 1st time I saw those videos I seriously cried so hard.... BUT, after ALL of that sad moments, that people believed that EXO was over, they had became more & more & MORE popular and now they continue as one of the BIGGEST & SUCCESSFUL group in KPOP. I really respect them on another level.....STAN EXO *Sorry if my english is bad
i hate how i watch this while eating like the emotions piled up halfway through the vid and i literally stop eating coz im fckin' crying 😭 this is my first time watching the exo vid so i really don't what's about to come 😭
when Exo debuted people called them Sm’s first failure and when they were trainees they had almost nothing to eat and had no phone for 2,3 years... big ent or not its just same they went through alot..... they dont deserve hates.....
Even now Taeyong in their song "Van" or something like that, they say the difficulty of being in SM, for some reason is one of the Big3, their artist are expected to be perfect and they really work hard for that. And another example is the group that will debut next year from YG, Treasure13 said when YGTB was starting that the expectation of "the next big thing" after BigBang, iKON, BlackPink and Winner was really hard to handle but that's their dream. Imagine EXO being like those babies and right after debut full of hate comments and then when they were just fine 3 members left, the date scandals, the injuries, sasaengs (psycho fans), Lay being unable to be in EXO 'til today, media trying to make them look like an "old" group that has an expiration date, military service (now)... they didn't have time to rest, any year. My respect.
kai severly injured his ankle back in 2016 on their concert, after the injury he was taking a break for 4 months in order to recover and he was really stressed after the injury because he think he might injure himself again
I hope more people see this video, because a lot of people thought because they’re from big agency they have privilege, they got silver spoon in their mouth, and they get their success easily. But nope exo struggle from the beginning till now, they were a few people attended their first fan signing, they being paid with a bag or rice. Back then they named exo as the biggest failure of the agency, yet now they become the biggest money maker of the agency. And sadly despite how big their achievements, how hard they work, and how talented they are, people still throw a lot of hate to them, criticize almost everything they do, and said that their success was because of their looks and agency.
Trainees and idols alike have an extremely hard time. Trainees leave their homes at the age of 13-15 to go and live in dormitaries with 8 people in one room, training 10 hours a day in order to try and debut. Even with that, 99% of trainees don't debut and get sent home. Even after debuting, most groups don't make it. They fall out of the public interest before they even start making money. The idols who DO make it are seriously dedicated. I have a cousin in the industry and the lengths idols go to while training is insane. People tie sandbags to themselves while dancing or sing while underwater to improve themselves. They eat one full meal every week in order to pass the monthly evaluations, where you're weighed and judged. (If you're over 150lbs for guys or 100lbs for girls you're out) The sad part is that even with all this, there's no gurantee you'll debut, and even if you debut, there's no gurantee you'll make enough money to survive. Listen to some interviews and you'll see idols saying that they cried every night as trainees because of the stress. Many trainees don't come from well off families and become trainees to feed their families, so getting cut is a real worry for them. That's why fainting from exhaustion or stress is a work hazard for all idols. They can't rest because keeping on top of the game and staying in the public eye means no breaks. As you can see in the video, Exo has a lot of instances where members just collapse from overwork. Lay was hospitalized for exhaustion 3 times in one year, and Chanyeol needs to use an oxygen mask in between performances just to keep going. Jackson from Got7 has even said he hasn't taken leave in four years because work is more important. Idols perform even while sick or injured. Watch "idols fainting/collapsing". It's a really long video, just because of how many instances thereare.
*all your questions answered* *1. what happened in 2014?* 2 of the chinese members (Luhan and Kris) left and decided to sue SM for unfair treatment and being overworked. in 2015, Tao unwillingly left Exo bc SM overworked him when he had a back injury and couldn’t walk. he was in a wheelchair and on crutches but they would still make him perform. his father made him leave and sued SM ent on Tao’s behalf. *2. if they’re from a big company do they have it easier?* yes and no. EXO in particular did not have it easier. they said in an interview that when they debuted they were each only allowed 1 vegetarian gimbap roll for dinner and they weren’t given access to their cell phones until 1 year after Growl released - which is 2 years after they debuted. Growl was their “breakthrough” song that led them to sell 1 million albums. the reason why i said yes is bc baekhyun complained in an interview that *bc of exo’s success* ,SM uses their money earned and treats the junior groups better and gives them extravagant meals and allows cellphone use. when the interviewer asked baekhyun “by junior groups do u mean NCT?” and baekhyun straight up said yes lol. so basically the cycle is: SM makes money from exo and spends it on promotion for NCT. and that’s what pisses exo’s fans off about the company
That's why EXOL are over protected to EXO. I really hate those people saying they come from big company that's why they get super stardom easy they are wrong...😭😭😭
Their training is so hurt, when they debut they got so much slammed because they came from a biggest company. They constantly be check and evaluate being in EXO even from their company they need to keep up a good grade. So much struggles.
When people say Big3 privilege...... I get pissed off honestly! EXO was named SM's mistake.... imagine hearing that after working so hard to debut.... then only a few people showed up for their first fanmeeting!! Do people think EXO got famous overnight!! they cried and overworked to get here... People judge Exo without trying to get to know them!! #Exo-L since the beginning...
Although they (exo) from large agencies. But when they debuted, they were not immediately famous and accepted by the public. At that time the community opposed SM to claim Exo, because at that time the 2nd generation groups (bigbang, snsd, superjunior, shinee, 2ne1) still influenced kpop music (still famous) and exo might not be famous. Debut exo is the beginning of the 3rd generation group (bts, twice, got7, icons, blackpink). But they are called the "failed group from SM" because their first fanmeeting was attended by only 20 people, they were also paid for with only one piece of rice. Society does not like the exo debut song 'MAMA' (I don't really know what the problem is, but I agree because it is considered worshiping the devil) Even though I think the song about the dark side of the world. In 2013 (one year after debut) exo started successfully, got the first win with the song 'Wolf', their XOXO album sold 1 million copies (as the first group to reach it after 12 years) and the song 'Growl' was very successful. Exo is known for the song 'Growl'. The 2014 exo comeback with the song 'Overdose' was also a success. But not long Kris leader from ExoM left the group, all were surprised. When present at the music ceremony, Suho stood alone on stage, only he who dared to give a victory speech because all members were embarrassed and afraid to look at their fans. After that Luhan member from China also left. In 2014, in addition to the release of 2 members, they were terrorized by fans who were following them, even the hotel room occupied by them was given a camera by a fan. 2015 Exo returned with 10 members with the song 'Call Me Baby' which was successful in album sales and even won 18 wins in music shows. But Tao, who is also a Chinese member, came out of Exo. Exo now has 9 people left, only Lay is the only Chinese member. Many rumors he will leave Exo. Even Exo did not escape from many rumors. We know that they are not mentally well, from their debut to the present. As fans we can only support them. Thank you for surviving for our sake (ExoL-aeri). Love you❤️
Mama is not about worshiping the devil... The song literally is talking about how we, as society, are no longer communicating with each other, how we refuse to talk face to face anymore. It is asking why do we no longer seem to care or love one another. The song is talking about the evils of technology and the fact that people hide behind anonymity to perpetuate hate and do evil deeds.
it is very difficult to find all the pain experienced by exo members, because they have to try to look fine. i recomendes "exo Arcade" it's a funny game they do,
Oh god yes, the "big three" fallacy needs to stop. All groups struggle, being from one of the three does not change that, it's just sometimes a different set of hardships. I know of groups from two of those companies and let me tell you they've gone through SO much, sometimes you TRULY fear for their physical and mental integrity. On a happier note, people getting to know EXO along with you is so sweet! ❤
From sm's biggest mistake to the sm's biggest bread earner is what Exo is. Despite being from the biggest entertainment company Exo' struggles made history. They were ridiculed, they taunted over their concept so whoever they are today is because of their unimaginable hard work and their biggest supporters (Exols). when kris luhan tao eft evryone expected them to flop because in kpop it is what happens to a group when one member left where in Exo 3 left. Can you imagine what must have Exo gone through 2014. Everyone ridiculed them for their slogan. Exo struggled every year its not just debuting era thats why we exols are that why very protective them. because we know they are not only the rich handsome boys in shinny clothes, they have a heart wrenching history.
EXO and red velvet (specifically, as they got more hate because of F(X) which was SM's fault to not pay attention to their groups properly) struggled more because first they come from big company and their debut was not that great secondly people expects more from New debuting groups of a famous company specifically when all of that company groups were more famous. they start getting compared to older groups of their companies even before a proper debut. It put more pressure on debuting artists to do better than their seniors so that they won't get criticised.
Anne Jung Thank you so so much for sharing this!

Oh mah gawd, reading this just made me crying like a baby and everything what u said is right bc me too..i just want to say if i'm so proud being an exoL since 2012 too, watching them since debut and everything what their going through when the member leaving and dating scandal etc just making me more love this precious boys

Thank you!!!

Yesss
Our humble kings and beautiful talented young boys😭😞❤
Thank you
I hope they make their own company where they CAN actually PROFIT from their own hard work :)
Me too😭
Same girls forever exol😭❤
I love EXO... but you do know that IS NOT true. 18 people were picked to get signatures.... There was more people actually there....
But there a picture only few fans are there on that even and they are touring for school just to get fans before.😞
Leonafe Esguerra EXOL forever 😭
I can go on for days about their hardships but it's so long already 😂
My Exo-L friends correct me if i'm wrong about anything! English isn't my first language but i tried my best 😂
Preach my fam😭😭😭❤
Guys you should react to EXO ROAD TO LEGENDS because it tells all the story you are asking like what happened to 2014 and stuff their struggles during debut until now
Yess💯💗
YAAAASSSS PLEEEAAASSSEEEE
yes yes
Yes please
Yes
Did you know that EXO was once named as SM entertainment's biggest failure? On their first fanmeeting there were only few fans who attended. I don't know the exact number but amore or less than 20.
And i cry a lot cause that news T.T
Sad but true, i heard there was only 18 but those 18 are the luckiest fans TT TT
@Subbilynnnn yes indeed the luckiest
@@pokemonairi yess sadly but true and i agreed with everything what u said about exo😞😭❤
After the part two, i want them to react EXO ROAD TO LEGENDS. it's worth watching. Your questions would be answered💓

They really are THE best.
It was only Lay who talked about their pre debut in details ...EXO don't say much about their hard times or their trainee days...until recently Lay opened up about how they got chosen to be in EXO
It was like a survival show bit much harder and "unhuman" (esp that there were no cameras)
There were like +100 trainees competing to be a part of the 12 members in EXO only those boys were able to do it
After all the strict SM training methods WITH NO MERCY they were able to make it in to EXO (the legendaey group that Lee Soo Man planned for like years) SM also does a evaluation to pick the main vocalists (only Chen D.O and Baekhyun werz able to pass as Main vocals and being a main in SM means YOU'RE AN EXTREMELY STRONG VOCALIST) but after EXO debut in the first year they were called SM first flop or failure they went on a year hiatus right after they debuted which is not good for a rookie group and people thought they will disband bit they came back in 2013 with Wolf and got their 1st music show win and broke so many records and made their first hit GROWL (Ps. Based on what Key a member of SHINee said only GROWL incomes built the new SM building they revived the physical sells after 12 years
There are so muxh to tell about EXO's history but I'll definitly recommend some videos about their career the fandome also the relationship between EXO and EXO Ls
Facts for you /
Some crazies actually broke into their dormitories and stole DO's brief and tried to sell them while some recorded one of them singing in the shower and other crazies did things like slapping them and verbally abusing them..
There was also this one girl that followed Suho everywhere with a sign that said " Rape me" (there's a video of him getting upset on stage just by seen her)
Kris left right before their concert tour and award show..He was EXO-M's leader and a main rapper they had to overwork themselves to rearrange everything in time, they fainted a lot on/off stage back then.
Next was Luhan the same year, after the concert tour.
Then it was Tao right after 'Call Me Baby' promotion.
All 3 were chinese members from EXO-M leaving only Lay, Chen and Xiumin in the sub-unit. EXOM and K merged, now it's just EXO and new sub-units
The reason as to why they left haven't been officially disclosed, but there are a lot of rumors and hints...
Damage LAY has done to himself for his career:
-did a surgery (neccesary for him to sing) on his vocal chords even though he could have died in the process because of his illiness (hemophilia)
-attached heavy sand bags to his waist and danced 7 hours a day and did so for years, he now has bad back and waist problems and has been hospitalised multiple times because of it.
there are other issues but he doesn't talk about these things he wish to show us only the perfect end result, it doesn't matter what he did to get there if we're proud and happy... his words not mine.
As for KAY, he probably managed to break everything that could be broken in his body.. He started dancing when he was 8, had both ankle ligaments injuried and is currently suffering from 4 disc problems, even through they hurt, he doesn't rest to heal.. nope too easy... he just takes painkillers and says " I can do it."
They're all like that and are more or less open about it. I can't imagine how strong they have to be mentally for them to bear all these burden.
They've been at war with themselves for years. I'm afraid that because of their burning passion they'll end up in wheelchairs at 40.
(english isn't my first language, correct me if there's any mistake)
My gawd u're comment just made me cry and spechless😭😭😭
I think most of the people think that way, just because you came from a big company it doesn't mean you're privilege. EXO has been working so hard since their debut and never stop doing it. I really appreciate EXO for their music but I appreciate them for the kind of people they are too. They have a beautiful hearts and they always teach us to fight for our dreams and encourage us to never give up and the most important thing that I've learned from them it's that when you're on top, always be humble. We can't forget where we come from and how did we get there ❤️
Thank you for react to EXO and give them the opportunity to know them like the humans they are
Been with exo since the very beginning and ive seen the struggle and hardships they've overcome and yet watching it again still makes my heart ache.
They were named the biggest mistakes of sm yet they became the biggest money earner for sm (which is all they care about ) and can you please react to more music videoss
2014 is when EXO M's leader Kris left the group.
thank you guys for this it always make me cry and warm my heart to see and feel their strong bond!
Like he really takes good care of his body, very strict diet, what he eats, he exercises regularly.
watching this make me cry. we've been through a lot like A LOT. but i'm glad we made it through many ups and downs together
Exol are the strongest fandom and EXO is the strongest group and no one can deny that
Cause whole kpop industry knows what EXO and exols had been through a lot.
From OT12, OT11, OT9, OT8 and so many issues but still holding to each other's hand.
That's why I'm proud to be an exol💕
I have watched this video many times but still yeah I'm crying my eyes out 😭 EXO❤️
Yeay!!! Finally... thank you so much guys😁 I'm waiting for part 2 too...
Once again thank you
HOPING THE BEST FOR EXO!!
The deserve all the love, support and success.
I really recomend you guys to watch “exo 9 members in 9 minutes “ and “exo sexo” Both of them are really funny i think you will love it !!
I have been enjoying all your reactions to EXO.
Excited for part 2!! You guys will definitely love that.
Bring back memories to all exol it really hurts so much to see them crying how they treated on their own ent.😔
Back then They were called the biggest mistakes of Their agency, yet they became the biggest money maker for the agency.
I never expected to cry this much...............
And those are just the three that left!~
The extra training Lay mentioned during his trainee period?
Man, every time you update a exo reaction I want to got to sleep. It's like 01.00 am in Germany and I have to write a class test tomorrow TT
I hate when people say there’s such thing as “Big 3 privilege” 🙄
Just recently Baekhyun said after debut they only kimbap.
Said louder for the ppl in the back sis
100%agreed with everything u said
Thank you so so much for sharing this!
Please ceck Exo's achievement and record in Mouma K !!!
React to how to be done by Do kyungsoo

What ever happen

I cry alot watching this video again.. 😢😢
Thank you for giving EXO that much attention I really appreciate thaat thank you so so so so much
I'm glad that you're aware about "It's not because they're from big company that they will achieve things easly".
I really respect them on another level.....STAN EXO
*Sorry if my english is bad
I just wanna cry and no comment, I'm sorry. Too speechless.
i hate how i watch this while eating like the emotions piled up halfway through the vid and i literally stop eating coz im fckin' crying 😭
this is my first time watching the exo vid so i really don't what's about to come 😭
when Exo debuted people called them Sm’s first failure and when they were trainees they had almost nothing to eat and had no phone for 2,3 years... big ent or not its just same they went through alot..... they dont deserve hates.....
EXO & EXOL: FALL 8 TIMES, GET UP 9 TIMES
We need a part 2 of this 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🙏

[LIVE] EXO 'Growl(으르렁)' Winner Encore Stage Mix Special Edit.
(If you're over 150lbs for guys or 100lbs for girls you're out)
The sad part is that even with all this, there's no gurantee you'll debut, and even if you debut, there's no gurantee you'll make enough money to survive.
Can wait for the part 2

*all your questions answered*
*1. what happened in 2014?*
2 of the chinese members (Luhan and Kris) left and decided to sue SM for unfair treatment and being overworked. in 2015, Tao unwillingly left Exo bc SM overworked him when he had a back injury and couldn’t walk. he was in a wheelchair and on crutches but they would still make him perform. his father made him leave and sued SM ent on Tao’s behalf.
*2. if they’re from a big company do they have it easier?*
yes and no. EXO in particular did not have it easier. they said in an interview that when they debuted they were each only allowed 1 vegetarian gimbap roll for dinner and they weren’t given access to their cell phones until 1 year after Growl released - which is 2 years after they debuted. Growl was their “breakthrough” song that led them to sell 1 million albums.
the reason why i said yes is bc baekhyun complained in an interview that *bc of exo’s success* ,SM uses their money earned and treats the junior groups better and gives them extravagant meals and allows cellphone use. when the interviewer asked baekhyun “by junior groups do u mean NCT?” and baekhyun straight up said yes lol.
so basically the cycle is: SM makes money from exo and spends it on promotion for NCT. and that’s what pisses exo’s fans off about the company
me watching this year2020 still crying.. oh dear
Really thank you guys
yes finally! THANKYOUUUU
That's why EXOL are over protected to EXO. I really hate those people saying they come from big company that's why they get super stardom easy they are wrong...😭😭😭
EXO Forever ❤️
Their training is so hurt, when they debut they got so much slammed because they came from a biggest company. They constantly be check and evaluate being in EXO even from their company they need to keep up a good grade. So much struggles.
Thanks for your reacion to exo

EXO is more than idols to me ❤❤
EXO-L loves EXO so much ❤
Thank you.. Thank you so much for this
what kevin said starting from 15:23 is a fact.
Always I am crying😭❤️❤️
When people say Big3 privilege...... I get pissed off honestly! EXO was named SM's mistake.... imagine hearing that after working so hard to debut.... then only a few people showed up for their first fanmeeting!! Do people think EXO got famous overnight!! they cried and overworked to get here... People judge Exo without trying to get to know them!! #Exo-L since the beginning...
Exo kings of kpop 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I didn' cry, I swear. I don't know why my cheeks are wet!
I hate you both!!😭😭 I'm not crying! I'm gonna subscribe.
I miss exo so much
Thank you 🤗 ❤️
Watch "EXO ROAD TO LEGENDS"
That is an old video, next year is the 9th years with EXO 😂😂
Korea entertainment do a training system to become a idol.. That why i'm respect idol of korea.. Because to be a idol it not easy..
Part 2 already hahahah and pls read all comments here and appreciate 😍😘😋love Exol Ph
it is very difficult to find all the pain experienced by exo members, because they have to try to look fine.
i recomendes "exo Arcade" it's a funny game they do,
I really loved the reaction ❤❤
Exo family 😭❤️❤️❤️
React to nct!! Also u don’t need to mute the music I don’t think
Waiting for part 2 plss.
