Good to see you back on the cheap car fixer-uppers. Has to be a £2k car once fixed. Key fob against the steering column might just be the battery. It was in my last car.

I have a mondeo with the same engine and i had a turbo boost issue that turned out to be engine manifold was the cause.

£500 will buy you a decent 'Kuga' in some dodgy parts of the country ahah 😉

These are called Escapes here in the states. Never got the diesel version here. Decent cars but the auto gearbox were questionable.

Hi Luke, try replacing the battery in the key, it might be the cause of your non working keyless entry

      I tried that unfortunately. I didn’t work :(

my mk 2 Kuga is fussy about the batteries it needs in the key - I tried cheapo ones and it didn't like them one bit but Every Ready seems to do the trick!!! Having said that, it let me into the car yesterday but set the alarm off when I opened the door!!!@@TorqueSteer

Why would anybody want to buy something as boring as an ex Motability special Ford kuga.

Good luck! We had an identical spec, albeit with the Powershift DCT. We had continuous DPF errors (the car has less than 100k miles) that we could never get to the bottom of. What killed it though was that gearbox. From a standstill or slow speeds the car would buck like a learner on their first lesson. As I didn't have the skills to fix it myself, we were looking at a repair cost of almost as much as the car was worth! We traded it for a Volvo V60 with a "proper" auto. Good luck though, because when it's all working, it's a fine car to drive :)

The dpf issues on these are probably the biggest thing on these, the powershift gearbox is the worst gearbox on these. The 2.0 tsci is a reliable engine

Since this is a public comment section and it’s illegal to remove a DPF, I can’t confirm or deny if the DPF has been removed and mapped out 😂 there’s a possibility that I might never have that problem

EGR valve? If its the same as the Ford Cmax 2.0 TDCI engine, which I presume it is, they clogged up real bad... I cleaned mine out and then blanked it... zero problems in the last 100K miles

I’ll look into that. Thanks 🙏

@TorqueSteer I also had a split intercooler pipe that threw up limp mode now and again and a prominent whistle from the turbo, when my EGR was clogged, the limp mode was pretty much like yours with loss of power... but also it was so clogged it would hardly pull away, my Cmax is just my work car and since cleaning out the egr and pipework with EGR cleaner then blanking it it's performed faultlessly apart from the MIL light coming on now ans again, an OBD reader sorts that when it annoys me. I would expect its the same engine as mine. Its a 2005, the engine is also shared with Peugeot and the Volvo V40s of the same age, I'm sure up to around 2011. Worth checking. Cheers

Feeling old. I remember when my mum was buying the new shape fiesta in 2010 and picking up a brochure for one of these when they were still fairly new
