I played this video for my dad as he died. It wss his favorite song. He couldnt say much. The nurse was talking and he just said as loud as he could, "LISTEN", so we all shut up so he could hear it. We played it for the last 6 hours of his life. This is the first time I've listened to it since. It put me right back in the hospital room, holding his hand, telling him how i can't thank him for enough for keeping me alive, sticking by me when no one else did, and never giving up on me. After I thanked him, he struggled to talk and look at me, but I could make out the 3 syllables. "I love you.", the last thing he ever said. They gave him meds not long after that and he went to sleep and we watched his vitals tick down to nothing, holding his hand, playing this song. He was the greatest man I ever knew and i aspire to be just like him in every way I can. He was so selfless and put everyone else before him to a fault, and he never let his family down. I love you dad.
Wow.its such a perfect musical piece to reminiscence about past time.Even better in some old house, in chair outside ,a cloudy day with little rain,in some deep remote parts of eastern europe.
I sat down to smoke a cigar in honor of a friend who’s funeral was today. I decided to play this masterpiece because it is one of my favorites of all time. Judging by the comment section I realized I picked the perfect piece.
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified [a]freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, romans 3:23-24
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. romans 6:23
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
john 14:6-7 amen We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 1 john 4:6-12
to the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
john 8:31-36
No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven-the Son of Man And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should [a]not perish but have eternal life For God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in The Name of God’s One and only Son And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God john 3:13-21
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life john 8:12 amen
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” john 11:25-27

It’s amazing to think that somewhere, out in the big wide world, someone else is listening to this... Edit: Wow... I just found this comment again after a year. It is truly amazing to see that so many are willing to tell me a piece of their lives, even if it is just a date. Stay safe and healthy and don’t forget, happiness can be found in the strangest of ways.
we trust our brains too much. memory is changed by emotion. we can hear only in the meantime. learn to enjoy it and then let it go because it will only hurt you when it becomes a memory..
Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He was seen by [a]Cephas, then by the twelve. 6 After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have [b]fallen asleep. 7 After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. 8 Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.
1 corinthians 15:1-11
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51 Behold, I tell you a [a]mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O[b] Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
I remember one of my friends back in 2009, we used to hang out all the time. We would play games outside. But then he found out that he was suffering from a gastric disease. He passed away last year. Every time I hear this song, I think about all the fun a had with him, when he was alive... Thank you for reading this comment, and value your life.
King sorry you lost your friend. I have lost friends too but not because they passed away but because I moved a lot when I was young. I still miss them and that was 30 years ago. Keep marching forward I’m sure your friend would want you to. It lets a little better with time and perspective. Just remember that your friends last memories were of your friendship and take great solace and joy in that. Bless you.
This was my mom's absolute favorite. It was played at her wedding to my dad and at both of their funerals. Unbeknownst to me, it is also the absolute favorite of my wife. She broke down in tears when I had a pianist play it during one of our first dates. I think both mom & dad would approve of my spousal choice.
I didn't see your comment until now, but I was listening to this 4 weeks ago. Feel free to comment back the next time you want to listen, and I will listen with you.
i'm sitting on the floor, on a blanket, doing french homework, eating chocolate, and listening to clair de lune whilst the crackling of my fireplace gently echoes around me. i feel ethereal.
It’s April 10 2020 and the planet is in a crisis with anxiety, fear and restlessness over the Coronavirus. I’m lying here listening to this and it transports me away from it all. Man, music is just such a gift to humanity ❤️
My close childhood friend recently died in a car accident...they loved playing piano whenever I came over. I WILL learn this song and play it one day in his honor. Rest In peace Henry Edit: I've finally learned how to play it! It's a beautiful piece and I play it every night! Hopefully Henry hears it too ;)
Oh no this song is great to learn in grief as it signifies how not all death is sad but no person will find it happy it is beautiful and it is almost as if you can hear love through those notes
You know what's nice? Everyone, of all ages, can understand the feelings behind this song. Whether you're here to honor Kaede, to appreciate your past, or just to relax, you've got a form of sympathy swelling up inside of you.
What a wonderful comment, you’re absolutely right when you say that everyone feels sympathy and emotion inside them for one reason or another, my reason for coming here is to inform the people that Clair de Lune is not a song, but is instead, a piece. Have a good night’s rest MoonyLighty.
it really is. not to mention the comment section is very nice too. everything about this video is calming and i love it, whoever's reading this have a good day or night 🧍✨
@@scratchy.cassettes A couple of minutes of googling finds that Kaede is a character from Danganronpa - the wiki mentions that another character plays Clair de Lune in remembrance of her, so I'd guess the fandom considers it to be pretty strongly associated with her and her death.
This is in my opinion, the greatest piece of music ever written. Listening to this makes you feel like you are going through a lifetime of emotions in a matter of minutes. No piece has ever made me feel this way when listening to it. Thank you for taking 15 years to write this piece Debussy, it was worth the wait.
This song makes me feel something. Very rarely do I find anything that provokes an emotional response. This is what I want to do with music: reach into the void and capture a piece of something more precious than any mineral. I agree, best piece of music I've ever heard.
@@jamesplummer6684 time heals all souls is a bunch of crap! My son pass away in January of 08 he was only three months old and he died from SID Sudden Infant Death. It’s been a 12 years and 11 months and I still feel the pain every single day!
I don't mean to be that guys, but playing the notes is different than mastering something IMO. It should take decades to master a piece. To pour your soul into it and have the listener feel the way You play it.
this was the song playing during my grandpas funeral. it was his favorite song. i sat there and balled. i was 7 years old. they continued to play it as my family carried the casket out. as the gunshots went off thanking my grandfather for his service, i layed my head in my grandmothers arms and cried and cried long after everyone had left. i loved my grandpa more then anything. im tearing up writing this even. i love you papa joe.
only 1 reply to this comment? absurd! i hope ur grandfather is happy in heaven, he deserves to rest after all he's done. im sure he was a sweet man, this song is beautiful :')

@@djpseudoname2023 Thank you for this. Dad passed away very early day before yesterday, and not much is giving me comfort. But this did, and I'm grateful to you for your kindness.
This is sad and beautiful at the same time. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. And I bet that every single time you play this song, his soul is with you. I hope you're doing well soon. (sorry for my English, is not my first language).
Stacy M, Please rest easy knowing your father hears only the most beautiful music every second from now to eternity. He knows a peace we can only dream of and he waits for you there. My father passed away March 15, 2006 and he also loved this music. God is good.
My mom used to play this piece for me and my twin sister when we were babies. Now that I’m older and found out I have depression, she uses this song as a way to get me to cry and let it all out. This song makes me want to be little again. It makes me want to break down in my mom’s arms and let that feeling of comfort and safety surround me as tears rush from my eyes. I love this song ❤
God is our Father, Let Him Hold you, break down and tell him your cares, for He cares for you deeper than you’ll ever know. And His Peasence will come into your Heart ♥️🙏🏻

They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you don't feel alone anymore. This song brings me comfort during my dark days and it held me during my toughest moments. I will forever come back to this song whenever I'm feeling down.
There are tears pouring down my face. Seeing everyone talk about their expierences with death, love, and family while listening to this song makes me feel like we're all connected in some way. This song, as it always does, allows me to let out the pent up emotions and come to terms that we're all imperfect. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories. I love and appreciate you. Edit: Learned how to play this on piano! Passed it off today, actually. Beautiful piece.

I used to hate piano. It was so tedious, so hard, so complicated. There was so much you needed to know, so much practice you needed to put in. So much time you had to devote, so many tears you had to shed. I wanted to quit for the longest time. I spent countless nights crying in bed after another argument about piano with my mom that ended in a screaming match. Piano became a thing I just needed to do, nothing more nothing less. It felt like torture. I just wanted to go out and play. But as the years went by, and I moved schools, lost friends, broke my heart, the one thing that I always had was piano. That brown yamada piano with the dusty rusted pedals that I grew up with. That I can remember in the corner of my house even since my eatliest memory. Piano is hard. Its painful. I've played for 9 years now, and every time I listen to this song I think of my Yamada piano. I love it so much. Creating music. Creating art. Failing, practicing, feeling frustrated, and then going out there and producing something amazing. Music will always be a constant in my life. And I will always love piano.
Hey klixxy 523! I Play the Piano too... Since 2011 and i spent also hours to practicing the Songs. I know how hard playing the Piano can be... So i only want to say: I Hope you will never give up, because to give up sth is the worst thing you can do and practicing and learning sth new is the best thing you can do! Enjoy it! ❤️🔮
i feel like this all the time, asking and asking my mom to quit. now i realize, it will all be worth it in the long run even with the endless nights of crying.
When I was little, my mother used to play Clair de Lune on the piano in our home. She died in 2009 and I always think of her when I hear this lovely, lovely song.
Jim Ryan my mother introduced this song to me when I was a small child about 4 or 5yrs old back in the early 1960s. (I am 58 now) . Actually it was on one of her symphony records. I never knew the name until one day watching so you think you can dance on Fox 5. , a dancer danced to this tune and there was the name Clare De Lune.. It does remind me of my mother during holiday times when she would clean the house getting it ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She passed in 2008 and my world aint been the same since.
I've played this song every night for my daughter since I was 4months pregnant. She's almost 4 now, and it still soothes her like nothing else. Have a nice night, and thank you so much for sharing your stories ♡
For me it's the woman I love My Natalie Music I never thought I'd listen to in a million years I met her and I fell in love And even though she has passed on She sparked something in me that will never die I listen to this and I'm back there with her in my arms God rest her beautiful soul I love her still I miss her everyday
My 4 year old son loves when I play this for him as he drifts off to sleep. He doesn’t know it but I used to play it for him when he was still in his moms belly. He will become something beyond special in this world. I feel it in my heart.
@POINTTWOFIVEMOA thank you so much for your kind words. He’s 4 going on 5 in December and he loves this music. He definitely has an old soul for a little guy. I love him. This is a sad song but it can also be one of joy.
This is the type of song that fits any emotion, when you’re happy the song is happy, when you’re sad the songs is sad, and when you’re frustrated the song is frustrated. It’s like a friend you grew up with your whole life and can completely understand each other
This comment hits differently when you hear this throughout your lifetime. And never fully understand how music can have no emotion and still make you feel them.
I listen to this while I lay on my back, eyes closed. I think about all the beautiful memories I had with my daughter. Lost her 1-4-21. We loved this song. 💔
So very sorry for your devastating loss. Can't imagine how you must be feeling. I'll remember you in my prayers and when I hear this beautiful song. I'm sure your lovely and precious daughter is with you. 🙏💕✨
“Life is like a piano; the white keys represent happiness and the black show sadness. But as you go through life's journey, remember that the black keys also create music.”
I miss my mother. She died of pancreatic cancer last August. I can't say the she was particularly fond of classical music, but we shared quiet moments were a piano song or violin instrumentals were our soundtracks. I love her, and I still miss her everyday. I wish she was here to reach more milestones by my side. Listening, to this makes me feel at peace. It makes me remember how kind was her love and how she embraced me every single time I was feeling down. I only wish she is at peace, wherever she is, and hope that I can still feel her love, although she does not have a physical presence, anymore.
I was having a lot of anxiety today, and I couldn't get out of bed for hours, eventually I put this on, and got up. I was going around my room, and finally opened the curtains, opened my bedroom door to crackling sound of logs in the fireplace downstairs. The grey skies were still there from the bad weather, but I went into my bathroom and something had changed from when I had walked in 10 minutes before, the most strikingly beautiful ray of sunshine hit my window, reflecting off of it and onto the whole space, the sun lit the beautifully tall trees outside, bringing out their yellow and green leaves even more, but the sky was mainly still grey, it was still drizzling slightly, and I don't recall many grey skies as beautiful as this. This song made everything about it seem enchanting. I guess if I was to read into it, I'd say this piece brought beauty into a dark and sad moment, and gave me something to feel peaceful about, despite whatever was going on.
My daughter is 19 years old living with disabilities that have impacted her life in many ways. She is caring, compassionate, loving and is one of my best buds. Shes been hearing this song since birth, through surgeries, through hospital stays, when she has been sick in bed at home and even now I sit in her room while she is not feeling well and having a hard time sleeping but something about this song gets her to sleep.
My son is almost 9 years old and has nonverbal Autism Spectrum disorder and this is his favorite song. It's so peaceful and I love how it makes him smile. He's loved this song since a infant. We first heard it on Baby Galileo and it's been our go to song for quiet time or during time of distress. He had surgery the other day to get a biliary drainage bag put in his new liver and much to my surprise the anesthesiologist was playing this in the operating room in a backpack across the room. It kept my son calm until they put that damn gas mask on and I had to leave. But in the recovery room it was being played again and I went back to a calm state myself waiting for my son to wake up.

My daughter is 6-1/2 and is also on the nonverbal Autism Spectrum. She has a twin brother who just finished kindergarten and is reading on a 4th grade level. We've never worked with him on his reading or anything else. I hope your son is doing well and God Bless :)
I feel like this is the song that plays when you walk into the room and see the love of your life, and you lock eyes and smile out of the corner of your eye, knowing life will never be the same.
There’s an unspeakable beauty to this piece. Something about it that takes you inside your past, and yet simultaneously through your future. Time is valuable, use it wisely.
Actually, you do in life exactly what you can do. Everything is predetermined. The freedom of choice is a mere illusion your mind created to help you deal with the truth, which is that you are not in control of anything, not this world, others around you nor yourself. You never have been, you never will be. You do not have control over your thoughts nor your actions. Your entire purpose for existence is merely that you experience the life that is laid out before you. You are on a one-way ride that that has but one path, all you have to do is walk it. But, there is one alternative. You can exit the ride at anytime, which will immediately end your experience. We humans have taken to calling the exit from the "ride", death.
Awe.😢 I hope she accomplished everything in life that she wanted to. My grandma passed away last year and it’s been tough on my grandpa, mom, me, and the rest of the family. My birthday is February 8th, BTW.
I first heard this song when my english teacher played it for my class. It was used as an important symbol in the novel we were reading, "all the light we can not see." I love this book and the teacher, but as the weeks are going on, we keep reading more and more books, and there are more and more papers and book discussions, and it's only 10th grade english. It feels like the world is collapsing in on me. There is so much work, but at the same time, i love it. I have started genuinely caring about school again. The teacher, mr.walker, actually cares and reads through and grades every assignment. For one of our test grade assignments, he left the best comment i have ever gotten on a school assignment, and he will never know how much it has meant to me. I want to tell him how much i value his feedback, but i dont want to be seen as weird. Im coming out of a horrible few years of depression, and i actually have hope for my future now. It seems stupid such a little thing is inspiring me so much, but seeing where i came from with how my grades used to look, getting this recognition means more to me than anything else. Im laying in bed right now, laying under my weighted blanket. It's been so stressful lately, and my adhd messes with my emotional regulation, so latley I've just been so angry, some of that anger being directed to him and the class. But listening to this song and typing this out, im feeling a lot better. If you read through this, thank you. If you relate to any part of it, just know that there are people put there who see your effort. And it they dont, at least you know it there. Keep trying things will get better. Just because you fucked up dosent mean you cant change and get better.
I’m not used to people saying something I can relate to, but I relate to this so much I’m not sure how to feel. I feel how overworked you are. I feel your anger, despite enjoying school… and how you even somewhat like how hard the assignments are. It’s extremely relatable. Thank you.
I hope more students find a teacher like Mr. Walker. My 9th grade English teacher's name was Mr. Pease. 60 years ago, he mattered to me like Mr. Walker mattered to you. My dad played this on the piano, and it remains one of the most beautiful memories of my life, and it seems to land like moonlight on quiet nights, splashing silvery light on everything, magical, soothing, gentle and tender. Your name is like moonlight, how perfectly wonderful~.
Tell your teacher… Teachers like that don’t come around often. Besides, they want to know that they’re making a difference in the lives of those they’re teaching ❤
a year later i come back to this post and find myself in a similar situation. because of that class i decided to take AP literature rather than 11th grade english. this class is with a diffrent teacher and it is thoroughly kicking my ass. this time i dont even get the praise or reassurances i used to get with Mr. Walkers in depth feed back and it feels yet again like im drowning. there isnt much good i can say about this current class but im determined to continue doing well, this time for myself. ive regained hope of going to college and the AP level of the class is boosting my GPA for this year to a 4.200, in freshman year i had barely passed 3 of my classes and failed the other 2. its insane how much my own word are inspiring me. even if someone isnt reassuring your work is good, if you know you are putting in that work and doing your best, its all the same. you are doing great. i am doing great. keep pushing. i dont know if it ever gets easier, but i know i am growing as a human. and i am certian that some day i wont have a stupid english class to needlessly stress over.
Imagine hearing this played live, only to live the rest of your life and never know it’s name. Never to hear it played again, only the distant memory of what it felt like to hear.
That happened to my grandma when she heard someone played it on the street in the 90s. I learned about 1 minute of it on the piano last week, and she said she loved that song, but she never knew the name of the song, so I said the name, and now it is her favourite Song :)

For me the two best ways to jog memories from the long forgotten past is 1.smell and 2.sounds,music, My father died in WW2 he was shot down in the last month of the war. I was born four weeks after his death. He bought my mother a piano and she used to love to play, I never knew that we were poor, we had no radio, and later no TV, she worked all day at a ship yard working in the office and at night cleaning offices, When she would come home I would beg her to play the piano, She would play and this is where my love for music would come from. I was to young to understand how her hands must have hurt after a long day of work, she would never complain, This music Clair de Lune was our favorite I am reminded of her each time I hear these notes, my mothers name was Clair, Wordsworth said these words, Thanks to the human heart by which we live, thanks to it's tenderness it's joys and fears Then he said these words that only in the last part of life do I understand, "In the soothing thoughts that spring out of human suffering" Then the best part "In the Faith that looks through death" We all are bound by this music, these notes,we are no more strangers though we be far far away,we are all of us brothers and sisters, Best wishes to all!
you know whats nice? everyone feels the meaning behind this song. whether you're here for kaede's sake, because you lost someone you love, you lost your own love, to calm yourself, to cry to someone you imagine is with you, to rest, to study or prepare, to quote, to live. we all feel the sympathy in this beautiful piece, for every reason, it's all equal. with this piece, we can be our own leaders. but we can also live in a world *where almost everyone* *is finally happy...* - Love, Toshi, the person who took their life, *for equality's sake..*
The feeling of saying *see you later!" while knowing later will never come. But you enjoyed the time you had with your friend, and they did too. And in the end all that matters is experience. And without experience what are you? So enjoy the "Hello's", "what's up" and the "goodbyes" but always Hold your friends close until goodbye is necessary. Then let them go freely. When you coming to the age to say goodbye forever you'll say "what a ride" and you will be happy you even were able to know your friends. Thank you.
@@Pbeyeler Of course it is! I've been trying to find the name of this song for a very long time, until one day it came into my recommended. Now it's in my playlist!
As a child, my Dad played the piano beautifully. He would often play this wonderful song. He would lull us to sleep playing the piano. Thanks Dad, for the gift of music.❤❤❤
It's night. No stars. The red paper lamps float around you. The water is still. The moon is magnificent. Freedom. The real final frontier. The composition of our dear Luna spirals around your head like ballerinas perfectly twirling in sync. The piano echoes across the lake. You cannot say for sure that you're at peace but you can feel that you're okay for now. You're okay for now. you are okay for now... Goodnight, ladies and gentlemen. I hope you find what you are looking for.
my Mother's favorite tune, played every Sunday in our home. Clare de Lune is so her, moving through life with such impeccable grace. She passed in 2015 after a 2 year battle with Leukemia, and I cry everytime I hear it, which is every Sunday
@Antoine Harry if you think thats being "fake depressed" then you have an extra chromosome. What does crying every sunday because this is a song she listened to and now shes not with them anymore have anything to do with being depressed? oh ight then pussy
My daughter knew this piece was my favorite and played it for me while she was taking lessons. And believe me she was as good as what you can hear here. She died a few months ago and I will never hear her hands play for me again. Listen carefully and immerse yourself in the tones. Listen and enjoy one of the best piano pieces of all times.
I have no idea who sees this, but here's my story... I heard this song somewhere when I was much younger and I have yet to remember where from.... anyways I heard it a few years back again and loved it because of the nostalgia it gave me that I truly could not explain... I loved it so much that I told myself I was going to learn the entire song before I die... I had zero piano skills and not once took a class for piano... needless to say here I am at 17 years old and I'm almost finished learning this song... when you play it and feel what Debussy put into it, it gives you so much more appreciation for the song and gives me an entire different perspective on it.... to put this into words, yes it is possible to do something improbable... anyways goodnight :)
This song helps not only relax me but puts me in a positive mood. But can also help give me a good cry when I think of loved ones of mine who has passed away. I close my eyes and I listen to this music and see their sweet faces once again... Also, tanks to Twilight the movie, many young people have been introduced to Debussy Claire de Lune. Edward dances briefly with Bella to this song in Twilight. And he also plays this song in Eclipse on the night they get engaged.
I knew a girl who was probably the best pianist I'd ever meet. And god did she love playing Claire De Lune. I can almost imagine her pale fingers dancing along the ivory keys of the piano she had in her home. She always loved this song and was learning it before she passed away. I think about her sometimes and everytime I hear this song, I can't help but to remember her.
I hate listening to sad storys cause it makes me more scared of when somebody I love will die and when I read stories like these I wish for a happy one like she keeps playing this to those day but I'm sorry that she passed away
She introduced me to this song. I cared about her for so long, even after we stopped talking. Now I’m listening to this while I delete all the memories. It’s kind of liberating in a way.
Dear reader here's my story When i was a baby, my mom played clair de lune to me....and then i felt asleep. When she get older, she didn't knew anymore how to play it, so i begun to play the piano... it was so much time, concetration and practicing, but it was the most beautiful thing or feeling in my whole life. So when I played SHE felt asleep. After a few years she died. I didn't played the song anymore, because when i played, i felt crying. Now since my mom died (2008) i always hear the song, in the night, when i try to fall asleep and when i fall asleep, i never have nightmares or sth like that. It's a very emotional music.
dlvei _ I don’t know why I’m crying, probably because of the music in the background and your story... I play piano too, I created some music or I make tuto of UA-cam, I love that... Bref, your story makes me feel good, thanks to share that!❤️❤️
My dad's favorite, he used to play it for me all my life, first piece he taught me how to play on the piano. I have always loved it..My dad has been gone for along time now and I am an old lady I will see him soon and if there is music where ever we are I hope they play this the minute I see his face and out stretched arms
Dorotea, I can relate to what you are feeling. When I want to be close to my mother who died in 2017, I listen to this and I DO let the tear flow. She tried to teach me piano but being young and interested in other things, I never learned. This is one song I hope to be able to play somehow someway in her honor. Raise the music up to your mom...the notes surely travel to heaven!!
I know most of you don't care, but every time I miss my sister (who's in college and plays the piano) I listen to this song, she could play it by memory so she typically played it when she had no sheet music. I basically know every note!
Music touches your soul. It can actually make you JOYOUS inside. It is really the only thing that makes me truly JOYOUS inside and feel like I am close to God. I was clinically depressed for most of my life. I had never known true joy in my life. But hearing and singing music to praise God fills me with so much joy and no one can take it away! I know I sound crazy. But we are all empty inside till we fill our souls with something......drugs, material things, or GOD.
+Hubert Sixte du Chatêlet Inexplicable. It's the sublime. Both sad/frightening and happy/joyous. Longinus is the philosopher behind the sublime in writing. He's the only way I know to explain it. Maybe it just can't be explained. Causes confusion and fear as well as joy. How it can be done in music is beyond myself as it isn't my medium but it is why I hate you all. All musicians. The universality and parity makes it the most sublime of all mediums but at least in writing I have a hope of reaching people when only perhaps a hundred musicians have achieved it with instrumentation. Maybe even only a few dozen. :)
My grandma passed away a few years ago and this always reminds me of her. She would always play this on the piano. I can imagine her on the piano playing this song in heaven.
That is so beautiful to hear.... She will be playing this song in heaven and one day I will be sitting on the grass next to her listening to her piano playing forever....
I'm sure her love transcends... through this piece and the Heaven's opened up to let her in and perform this song eternally..so that all the angel's have a good night's rest and wake up to guide you..in your life.
My sister Shelly used to play this on the piano when we were young. Every time I hear it played it makes me feel safe and sad at the same time. I miss my family the way it used to be when we were young ❤ 😢
The first time I heard this beautiful piece of music was overhearing a neighbor playing it. It was summer, the windows were open and the breeze would change the volume. It was pure magic
Remember: - Don’t wait for an apology - Don’t waste your time on those who make you miserable - Take life one day, one hour, one minute, at a time. - Never stop being a kid at heart - Someone loves you - The future doesn’t exist yet - You exist for a reason
This piece always makes me cry, even at just the first few notes. Whenever I seek comfort, I always come back here. Please, for anyone who is struggling at the moment, please keep living; it always gets better.
@@MM-rr1kp where is your proof?? Oh that's right, just becuase she said so it must be true. Why don't you do some fact checking first, there is a so many videos and testimonies of her abusing her partners, and it's on tape of her admitted she abused Johhny and belittling him for wanting to walk away from an argument. People like you make me sick.
I've held in the tears for years, but after reading these comments and listening to this masterpiece, I just sat here and cried for a bit. Thank you all for sharing your beautiful testimonies and making me feel again. This all just made me realize how heartbreaking and beautiful life can really be, and I'll never forget this moment
I find this song reminds me of seeing absolute peace in nature. The pristine beauty of the world we live in. The last gasp as you reach the top of the mountain to see the vastness of what is under you. A mother kissing her children to sleep. Those precious peaceful moments that you treasure forever.
when I hear this, I feel like im experiencing an out-of-body experience, watching my life quietly go by like montage and im standing there frozen, far away
On our way to give birth to my daughter my husband played this song in the car. It was the middle of the night and there happened to be a full moon out. Once he had handed her to me he then also started playing this. It was one of those perfect moments. As soon as the midwife and nurse heard it start to play they got a look on their face and ducked out to give us privacy.
"Hmm… a pretty song to play for you… Oh, like "Clair de Lune" by Debussy!. It's a soothing song that calms your heart, like the moon's reflection on water…"
100 years ago, someone composed this beautiful song. There is still lots of beautiful music now. But it doesn't have that ethereal feeling that these old songs have and that makes me appreciate them even more.
@Angela Loi, there is just as much gorgeous ethereal music now. There's at least a few Debussy's composing as we type these things. Historians and anthropologists have documented homo sapiens spanning the last 4,000 years, all saying "Things / stories / people / songs (et cetera) aren't how they used to be / don't have that same feeling anymore." It's called "nostalgia" or "idealization." Your memories of the past have selective attention applied to them to eliminate the rough stuff. There's gorgeous music right now being crafted that Debussy would smile and say "I wish I'd written that..." about. Just gotten look and listen. %-) Cheers
I thank that the best part of this song is that it has no words yet everyone can connect and relate to it and it is so beautiful scrolling through the comments and seeing all the different languages and backgrounds these people have
I played this video for my dad as he died.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
john 14:6-7 amen
We are of God.
Do you believe this?”27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

The saddest part of life isn't the end, its knowing that you could've done more with it.

In the fall of 1964 I was a college freshman. I first heard this song when a young man played this for me on my dorm piano. What a gift.
For me the two best ways to jog memories from the long forgotten past is 1.smell and 2.sounds,music,
My father died in WW2 he was shot down in the last month of the war. I was to young to understand how her hands must have hurt after a long day of work, she would never complain,
This music Clair de Lune was our favorite I am reminded of her each time I hear these notes, my mothers name was Clair,
Wordsworth said these words,
Thanks to the human heart by which we live, thanks to it's tenderness it's joys and fears
Then he said these words that only in the last part of life do I understand,
"In the soothing thoughts that spring out of human suffering"
Then the best part
"In the Faith that looks through death"
We all are bound by this music, these notes,we are no more strangers though we be far far away,we are all of us brothers and sisters,
Best wishes to all!
This is the first time I have actually been touched by a story on youtube. Thanks for sharing.

It's night.
No stars.
The red paper lamps float around you.
The water is still.
The moon is magnificent.
Freedom.
The real final frontier.
The composition of our dear Luna spirals around your head like ballerinas perfectly twirling in sync.
The piano echoes across the lake.
You cannot say for sure that you're at peace but you can feel that you're okay for now.

my Mother's favorite tune, played every Sunday in our home. Clare de Lune is so her,
moving through life with such impeccable grace. She passed in 2015 after a 2 year battle with Leukemia, and I cry everytime I hear it, which is every Sunday
I'm sorry about your loss, Dan. Hopefully your mother is reunited with the Lord.
Reminds me of my mom. So serene. So angelic. So pure in heart. One in a million.
God, was I so lucky to have her!
I’m sorry for you loss
@Antoine Harry why do you have to be like that? I don't understand people like you that crave negative attention
@Antoine Harry if you think thats being "fake depressed" then you have an extra chromosome. What does crying every sunday because this is a song she listened to and now shes not with them anymore have anything to do with being depressed? oh ight then pussy
For me, this song expresses the love and adoration I feel towards my sweet little dogs and the way I feel loved and adored my husband❤❤❤
Amazing!
So sorry for your loss.. God bless your family

Im sorry.
That's awesome. Very inspiring to hear an account of someone doing the seemingly impossible, especially when it comes to an instrument.
Incredible
This song helps not only relax me but puts me in a positive mood. But can also help give me a good cry when I think of loved ones of mine who has passed away. I close my eyes and I listen to this music and see their sweet faces once again...
Also, tanks to Twilight the movie, many young people have been introduced to Debussy Claire de Lune.
Edward dances briefly with Bella to this song in Twilight. And he also plays this song in Eclipse on the night they get engaged.
No way you're only 17. ;-) Incredible insight!
I could not have wrote the way I feel right now better. THANK YOU!!!

Dear reader here's my story
When i was a baby, my mom played clair de lune to me....and then i felt asleep.

That is the most adorable post ever. Having great relationships with siblings is the best. 👌

I am suffering from depression right now and when I heard this song it actually made me feel good. I guess that’s how powerful music is.

Why does this piece always make me feel that I've just spent the most perfect day of my life?
+Hubert Sixte du Chatêlet - It's just perfect music isn't it?

She will be playing this song in heaven and one day I will be sitting on the grass next to her listening to her piano playing forever....

100 years ago, someone composed this beautiful song. There is still lots of beautiful music now. But it doesn't have that ethereal feeling that these old songs have and that makes me appreciate them even more.
There's a song that I remember from a kids movie and it has the same feeling. It's called once upon a December :)
@@jaiden8238 that movie came out like 30 years ago though so it’s not new
@@idk-uv7mt I know
@Angela Loi, there is just as much gorgeous ethereal music now. %-) Cheers
