      That is old school. my mom and dad are the same way. Once I was able to trick them and pay for dinner and I felt like a king. She didn't want to talk to me for 3 days. Since then I just ask but don't plan to win that argument.

      To be fair, I wouldn't exactly call it leaching if your daughter is way, WAY more wealthy than you'll ever be, and you accept "normal" amounts of money to improve your living standard - or even just the occasional dinner invitation.
      I can absolutely understand the parents for not wanting the money, I'm just saying it wouldn't automatically make them worse people if they would accept it.

      @@canuzun44 sure it’s called family, but family definitely can leech. there’s actually like a law (or something) for child actors/stars where the money they make is put into a personal fund their parents can’t access because so often parents of these children work them to death and take all their money and by the time the children become adults, they have no money from their career. a popular and recent example of this is jennette mccurdy and her mother.

Its the parents’ prerogative to not do that although clearly being asked, but it is a shame in my opinion. They have been blessed to have a daughter that successful and yet wont reap any benefits of being lucky. Your point may apply to a young kid’s scenario which is different than this situation.

    Even to this day her parents show how much they love her. Not taking her money especially when she is so successful shows how much they still want to take care of her. To have that much pride and not care about money is rare and I'm glad she's been able to be shown these qualities in life.

She expects my husband to build her a home. We're not rich, my husband makes only 30 k per year.. We're halfway through building our home and will probably be done in some 3 more years.

    it’s crazy to hear the extreme differences between the ways celebrities’ parents treat them. mila’s parents seem so thoughtful and then you have other parents who treat the kids who pay their bills like dirt. so glad she didn’t experience that.

    I know she's smiling about it but having experienced this situation first hand I know just how stressful this can be at times, especially when like Mila's my parents and I came from a poor background.
    They worked hard, sent me to college, spent every living second of their lives doting over the three of us; We've made it know, we're grown adults with relatively good income, we want to spoil them yet they make a fuss every single time.

    Can confirm. Waited on her in Los Angeles multiple times. She even had a large party of all women in her family come in once, and she came in early to set up the tables with us. It was awesome. Very very nice family.

      No they aren't. Most parents work their whole lives just for their children to be able to work less. Mine did. And im from tha Balkans. Three daughters all will be left with one house, lots of land and savings accounts. But here we take care of our parents until their death, we don't put them in a nursing home
