    I finally got the mod done over the past weekend. Thank you so much for the guide! VFA is noticeably better now!

    Awesome video! I've been looking everywhere for clear instructions on how to do this. Thank you so much!

    Note that the steppers will have to rotate faster, which will cause loss of torque at higher speeds, so 600mm/s might not be possible anymore or could cause layer shifts

      @exakelgaming 2 місяці тому +1

      then that would have to be the case on the 2024 revision. unless the 4248 motors can do something the 4260s don't.

      @@exakelgaming It is linked to the quality of the motors, but most of all the drivers, drivers settings and driver voltage. If there is not change compared to the pre-2024 version, then there is not much to worry about. Typically you want to run steppers below 600 rpm, after that they quickly lose torque.

    I removed the original gear with ease using my power drill. I slowly stepped the clutch up to a setting that would drive the screw to push the gear out.
    Before using the drill, I was making no progress using my own strength and the printed part.
    Also, I printed the gear remover part out in PETG with 20 walls. Worked out very well and solid.
    Still waiting for my gear to arrive to seee the print result.

  • @ashleywhitehead3710

    Yes this is a big contributer of print quality issues with the K1 printers. Among others, like the linear design on X using graphite impregnated bushings with grease and overly stiff springs to seat them against the rail.
    However the problem with changing the drive pulley to a 20T is that you now have insufficient tooth engagement with the belt due to the stock belt pathing being designed around the larger stock pulley.
    You will likely now get tooth skipping at higher speeds and accelerations.
    There are mods that adjust the belt path and increase tooth engagement for the 20t pulley so it can be used without issue though.

      Thank you kindly, I will take a look at the mods for the belt path. As far i haven´t had any tooth skips and everything prints fine

    Seeing the 8 screws that holds the top frame to the gantry, I am surprised no one has designed an extension piece that lifts the frame but not the gantry. That would relieve so much stress on the bowden tube. It also means extensions for the side panels and door or templates with the updated dimensions.

    • @stoffe9301
      @stoffe9301 3 місяці тому +1

      Rigidity, this top frame is what holds everything in place, but would be interesting to be proven wrong if someone tests! :D

    • @exakelgaming
      @exakelgaming 3 місяці тому

      @@stoffe9301 that makes sense too as you're introducing another point of weakness. It would have been nicer if it was thought of by creality when designing the K1 max.

    If pulleys are stubborn to remove use a dremel with a cutting disc. Don't cut the shaft. Take your time. The dremel will cut the pulley quickly. Watch for sparks.

    I see that the 2024 revision uses 4248 stepper motors over 4260s. I wonder if they can be used as a drop-in replacement for the 4260s? Do they require any config modding?

    Can I change the microsteps from 128 to something smaller? I'm installing a microprobe and it's shutting down the MCU and a friend thinks this might be the problem of overloading with 128 microsteps.

    Are the settings you provided suitable for K1 in the printer config? I'm using the standard K1. @Print3D And I also want to change the belt. How many meters and what width of belt should I get? In the video, how many 20-tooth 5 mm pulleys did you buy?

    Hello, very good video. A query, does this affect the motherboard in any way? This week my k1 max had a failure (error 2566:X-axis motor drive abnormality). After doing a review, Creality's after-sales service will send me a new motherboard, they asked me for a photo of the engine to see what version it was and according to this they would send the motherboard.

    • @Print3D_it_is

      I can not see why it should effect the motherboard, maybe they want to see the motor to see which version they need to send

    ? do the belt paths stay parallel with the X and Y axis rods when the motor pulley is made smaller.? When I designed my coreXY I was careful to keep the belt paths parallel to the X and Y axis.

    • @J-S-T-E
      @J-S-T-E Місяць тому +1

      I could imagine that if you remove the pulley by force on the rod that it gets deformed at the top, maybe use a file and take a little bit away at the top of the rod (all around the top / corner) so it can slide back into the bearings

    I could use some help. I set them to the values you had entered at the end of the video when I changed to the same motors as they are on the k1C or yes they are the ones less the gears on the motors that are mounted. But the machine goes out too far when I choose the printer to go home. How do I solve this?

      I would guess that those pulleys do not have 20 teeth, the values i have shown are solely for 20 teeth. If there are more / less teeth the values need to be corrected
