It's a good thing that people have to play for a few hours before accessing multiplayer! I'm glad that this is a "long-haul" game, it will probably be about 10 years until the next time so what is the rush to complete the whole thing in one day?
@@kekke2000 well only time will tell I guess, but GT6 came out in 2013, GT sport in 2017, and GT7 in 2022. So at least the trend has been every 4-5 years.
A review that shows driving physics properly, other reviews are shit in this term. So it's a closer simulator than previous chapters, GT Sport wasn't bad, in this chapter cars seem more natural to see on track
Yes! I don't really care about the other aspects much except for tne driving feel and it certainly isn't like GT Sport where the front seems to have an infinite amount of grip and the way you had to take absurd and inconsistent lines over curbs to be competitive in multiplayer. Will be buying the game for sure.
@@kronos711 Yes, It looks good, you can see the weights, the track grip and bumps. A simulation Is not made only of 100% accuracy, the first thing is the sensation It can give. This give immersion and a realistic feel. Some simulations lack in this feeling, for example. I don't know of you played GT Academy demo back in 2013, maybe It wasn't tue best simulator, but It had an awesome sensation of realism and weight. I hope for this type of physics in GT7
Hello viewers, just to note that there was a 4gb update and it changed the weather options slightly. Nothing drastic but theres a few more to choose from. Other than that, I couldn't see any other changes. Also, with the ray tracing vs frame rate mode - this applies to replays and not other modes. The main thing I couldn't review properly is the multiplayer as I was only able to do some 'reviewer' races and this isn't really reflective of the final game after release. Ultimately, I really enjoyed the game and it definitely isn't a case of being GT Sport 2.0 - it really does feel like a new game in its own right.
@@RAAFLightning1 Yes the HUD is the same but I can assure you it feels like a new game when you play it. Watching someone else play it isn't the same as playing it yourself.
This is definitely the most thorough and detailed review of the game I've seen so far, and the only one I could find that seemed to be strongly from a sim racer perspective. Extremely useful and what finally put me over the top for a last minute pre-order, thanks in no small part to the detailed discussion of the physics. Thanks! (PS: From what I've seen from other reviewers who concentrated almost exclusively on frame rates and rendering and such suggests that the game is actually set up the way you were hoping, ie when you enable ray tracing, it shows replays in 30fps with ray tracing, but the actual racing is still *always* in 60fps and with ray tracing disabled.)
I'm thinking that the higher fidelity physics are really going to reset the online pecking order. I've driven a lot of hardcore sims in the past and I've felt that the way some people have been driving (online) on GT have been absolutely getting away with murder. Hopefully these new physics will force the drivers to be more deliberate compromising and graceful.
Online is a joke. People overtake you by using you to cut and bump out of the corner. Literally not how physics works. I have never seen a single clean overtake, unless I just move out on purpose, but even then people turn in me seeking contact, and instead of them spinning out I get punted away from track. I don't want to hate on you guys playing online, but it's mostly kids playing arcade mode
Hi Steve, I'm fehpat_ from the video. Donte12 was given a penalty for that crash. Before the midnight update, we couldn't see the other players' remaining penalty. This situation changed after the update.
@@Super_GT by now, the online mode is at least in the same lvl that we have for GT Sport? Is it accurate to say that GT Sport online mode is the baseline for GT7 online mode and we tend to get even more with updates? GT7 keeps the two rating systems for skills and sportsmanship?
Watching the car physics portion of this vid, I wonder if TCS is going to be more realistic than in GTS. In GTS, to be fast, you had to go TC-0. Not realistic at all as most race cars rely on some sort of TCS to be driven fast. ACC simulates the best I feel. Hopefully this is the case for GT7
@@simplejackenduro You need to tune a car properly and try it without TCS. Good luck with Ford GT with no TCS. I battled that car on the Nurb for days and was losing 10 seconds per lap without TCS in GTS.
FYI, the raytracing mode is exactly what you suggested. It reverts to 60fps RT off while racing and only uses RT in menus and replays. I don't know if you misread it or if it's just poorly explained, but unless you really want 60fps replays there's basically no reason to use the framerate mode
I’m kinda missing an offline championship mode, like they have in AC, ACC and F1 games. Especially for a single player focused game. The last to first challenges get old a bit quick. Would love to have qualification sessions with the ai etc.
This is such a basic feature yet Polyphony never add it, the rolling start last to first model is outdated imo, and even if it wasn't the game needs variation
I'm very excited about the new physics, looks like the people who were doomposting about how the physics would be compromised because it's a dual-platform release were wrong as I expected lol. I noticed how for the AI difficulty, "Hard" only has 2 out of 3 peppers, so it looks like Sophy will be the 3 out of 3 whenever that gets released.
We can see that the game features the 3 usual levels of difficulty of gtsport but i wouldnt be surprised if sophy was to be more than 3 peppers. At 19:29 , you can see that a mission is rated 4 pepper difficult so...
Man you saying "being in it for the long haul" reminds me of the GT4 Extreme Events F1 series and it took me god knows how long to even put a small dent in the completion of that game. Very excited for this.
For me, Gran Turismo has always been a single player game so this sounds like it's right up my alley. I didn't want the license tests to be easy or quick just so you can get funneled online. Can't wait to download it.
Exactly, just like the collecting cars, im happy the focus is more on that. GT sport threw the cars at you with all daily cars so there werent really "bonds" with most cars. Now, that i have to save up for example the Carrera GT for a week and then buy it, it will feel more special

Two things I had hoped to see in 7: 1. AI that adjusts to your skill level, thus keeping the game challenging. 2. Greater variability in starting grid position. Seems in "Sport" you start either last or a few positions better than last, and the challenge is always the same - fight your way up a pack of slower AI's. Starting in pole position or nearly so and having to keep ahead of a pack of AI's that are essentially your level +/- a couple of tenths over a lap would make for a fun new challenge.
I’m here right after watching the review from IGN - which felt like dry white bread tbh. It just shows why it’s important to watch reviews by people who know what they are doing. It’s clear Super GT has put the time and effort to really ‘review’ the game. Very well done sir.
To be fair this review is aimed at people who play sim racing games, while the IGN review is more broad and aimed at casual gamers. I think they both succeed in what they’re trying to do.
I thought that IGN review was the most dry and boring 9 I’ve ever heard. It almost made me -a huge fan- NOT want to buy GT7, which… again… is for a 9 amazing? A review for GT should be a celebration of what this game is and represents.
I was one of the lucky people that got GT7 early because Amazon shipped it early by a week and this game is definitely for car people and has hit me with a pretty big nostalgic blast & I hope it does with yall too ! And I do hope to see yall on the track this Friday.
It's good to know that you have to actually grind for money rather than just buying every single car after 4 hours of playing. It makes the cars you buy actually count instead of just having a million cars in your garage like an absolute madman.

what really annoys me is the amount of confirmation clicks it take. for example you finish a race - want to go to the next. it takes up to 15 confirmation X clicks to get back to the map.
I’ve never played a GT game before, but I’ve always been somewhat fascinated by the aesthetics of the series. So I decided to give the GT7 a try. As a compete rookie with a controller, I was feeling kind of at a loss at first because I had to do quite a lot of training to at least get the basics right and going. And a couple of licenses granted and oceans of sweat poured off my palms later, the game awarded me with what I’ve been imagining and hoping for. Now it’s kind of a zen thing - to race against my own best lap ghost in the Sport mode as clean as I can and then rewatch the replay over and over, feeling proud and satisfied. Sure, there is a lot more fun to discover ahead, though I’m more than satisfied with what I’m experiencing right now.
I'm curious about the livery editor. Part of the fun of each week's daily races was finding or making a proper livery for whatever car was required for that race. It always annoyed me that you usually couldn't change the livery in daily race A (or any race where you were given the car rather than driving your own).
Yeah, this is one of the things I'm interested in, and also custom helmet designs. I used to make custom helmet designs back in the day for old PC F1 games, and I'd like the ability to at least fully design my own helmet.

I'm so grateful for a huge single player game finally. All these years the market is 100% just on the online multiplayer, what is pretty bad. Games like dragon Ball kakarot show's that we still need single player. And I'm really excited to see that change of the physics, for me GT sport was aways just put your car in the right place and use all the extension of the track do beat records, and the lack of physics gave everyone the opportunity to do crazy and unreal things. Suzuka now will be really fun.
My honest score for this game when it launched was a 6.5 of 10. Now after updates I would give it a 7.5 One thing I hate is the grind to get credits. If you aren’t a pro e sport racer and win every single race you barely make money but of course that’s so you can use real money to buy credits.
I just noticed something about the difficulty selection screen at 17:31. Even the hardest setting only has 2 of the 3 pepper icons filled out. Maybe that's a hint that they are planning to add one more setting later on, maybe based on that experimental AI that you talked about in a previous video.

Definitely needs to 'moddable'. I love GT HUD, it's clean and shows important data as it should. I guess people would like to customize it, maybe an update will allow it in the future.
The Frame-Rate Mode is automatically in use when racing. There's no ray tracing during a race. The game just dips like that when full grid, dusk or dawn, and conditions are wet. It's just too much even for PS5 when all of those things are happening simultaneously. In other words, you are good by just keeping it in Ray Tracing mode if you can tolerate 30 fps in scenes that actually have ray tracing.
@@arapaimagold8088 Why should it? The PS5 doiesn´t get really loud in any game even when pushed to the limit. GT7 is no exception. It´s not a PS4 anymore...
This is a really good review. I like how ground level it is and more focused on what we can expect when playing the game as opposed to other outlets who have a more generalised overview.

Yeah, it already takes me long enough to get a decent qualifying time even on the slow Race A combos. It's kind of a bummer that I'm going to have to start sifting through youtube/forum posts for setups every week as well now.
@Tarka Dal In GT Sport if i remember correct it startet with tuning on the nthey disabled it for years as it was not working out well. I think it was smart by them to do so.
I think Gran turismo would benefit from offering just an extra camera angle that is more dramatic and not as fixed on the car. Would be more immersive for casual players but wouldnt negatively impact the game since it's just a camera angle
Bruh, immersive and driving from behind the car suspended 2.5m in the air, somehow I think you're using that term incorrectly. Nothing immersive about 3rd person view in a driving game, at all!

Would be cool if they could add the Asseto Corsa and Forza cockpit mode, no steering wheel, more near the car, and it would add a whole level of immersion, and also would encourage many to prefer cockpit mode
I really feel they’re missing a great opportunity to go through the history of specific drivers with a B-Spec career mode. With your team of drivers, build up their skills and manage driver swaps at the right time. Also earning new sponsorships to gain extra money for better performance parts. There’s just so much lost opportunity with no fully fleshed out B-Spec mode. It’s also a very useful mode for those that are disabled and have a hard time playing the main game, but really enjoy racing.
@@BrijG1988 Exactly what Kazunori Yamauchi said in a late interview. He has not confirmed it yet, but he "wouldn't rule out the opportunity for a B-Spec mode" using Sophy AI.
Playing horizon now. Have GT7 and Elden Ring both loaded on my PS5 now. These three games have been my most anticipated and I plan on taking my time. With kids taking free time, these three games may well last me until the fall
Great review! So thorough, touched on everything and an honest opinion, watched a few "Gaming Sites" reviews and they were all rushed and missed out some of the huge changes in this game.
The main thing I want to know: do the trees still pop in at the end of the starting straight at Monza? (Also, trees in general: Screenshot comparisons with GT Sport show that tree shapes/placements are exactly the same in most tracks of GT7, which suggests the tracks aren't completely remodelled. Still, GT Sport was known for having the best trees anyway). Yeah this comment is about trees.
I’m not too excited about tuning in Sport mode. This will be a huge disadvantage for those like me who don’t know how to. I prefer equal cars like GT Sport. Great review btw

If you don't know how, you can always learn. I'm pretty sure they'll have enough breath of online separation for those who want to run tuned cars, those who rather run tuning locked and those who don't care either way. GT games were originally about learning about these things, one game without tuning in it and everyone complained about the lack of it, it's added and now the complaints are going to other way. Life is about learning, so take some time to learn it on your own, with others, your entire trip through life is a giant learning curve.
@@fyahface413 There are loads of games where you have to spend hours for an extra 0.2 seconds. GT Sport was the opposite of that, so it's very, very strange for them to move to the complete opposite, where people have to treat it like a job to be any good. People have real jobs and families.
I've got mixed feelings on the tuning for multiplayer. I want it to be an option for some races, but have at least one daily race that's fixed setup. I do a lot of iRacing, if I'm going to spend time agonizing over every 0.1s on setups I'll go do it there. I'm excited for all the single player content, but I want online to at least be an option for casual racing, not something where I'll get instantly clapped without a setup.
@Bru Rred yeah this is my first gt and I love that detail! I love that it's integrated with your single player experience and that you have to customize your car to meet the requirements sand have you customize the best you can within those limits. It connects me more with the car of my choosing
I'm not excited by the tuning out the gate but like I was telling my buddy while it was really nice in Sport to just be given X amount of cars to pick from that were balanced out the reality was there were typically 2-3 cars everyone was in that were just a better fit for the race and maybe toss in a couple odd ones in that were probably going to finish in the back half. If we get more diversity out of the cars in each race then I'm willing to come around on the tuning. Time will tell how it will play out.
May I just add, I believe, although I am not 100% sure, at 2:17, that NSX Steve overtook was Keiichi Tsuchiya's personal NSX (with the same front splitter and wheels), you can go to Hot Version's UA-cam channel to see the real thing for yourself, but it's so damn cool to see the devs hide something like this for us to discover!
nowadays gaming companies have very tight limits of improvement in terms of graphics, so our expectations on an upcoming game have to change. It shouldn't be all about the appearance of the game and companies are now given more space/time for improvement on other areas such as physics, adding new features and listening to what the public likes. I am glad that gt7 has made a successful combo of all these; hope that in terms of longevity this game is gonna be a good one

Yes I agree about the graphics and physics. The game looked great anyway. I would however expect them to have added way more tracks and kept up to date with the GT cars in the GT series about better. The sounds were alway a bad point for gran turismo too. I played ACC on pc once and I immediately thought "man the sounds are awesome". GT needs some improvements in that area.
@@cobyjim for sure bro. I was disappointed with the initial number of cars and tracks compared to gt6. Important licences such as Silversotne, Monaco etc. are missing, but lets just hope the community;s demands will be heard.
Daily Races and Sport mode will certainly have a new dynamic. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I'm VERY excited to hear about the new physics and driving feel 👍
We will have to see how it turns out. I know that I had a lot of fun racing online in the few races I did but I can see how it could potentially alienate players that don't wish to put in the extra time to tune their cars.

Great review Super GT, was really looking forward to this after having followed your channel for a while in anticipation of GT7. And you did not disappoint! One tip though, driving with the motion controls when using the controller is a much easier transition when typically you're using the steering wheel. For me just as easy to get golds that way too. If it were up to me that was the default setting. Can't wait to play this for myself ...
How about a new review, based on the greed that's happening in the game now? We buy a certain content, and then, some of that content gets taken away? Games (digital or disc)should be returnable and refundable! I want a refund!! PD: GFYM !

To my mind the adjustable setup in multi player is really going to screw over the average player. Knowing exactly how to adjust each car for each track and each condition is an art in itself and then factor in all of the tuning options. I know from project cars 2 that even if you are a better driver than those around you, if you are unable to get a car setup from someone else you're screwed. I hope this isn't the case as simple, uncomplicated competitive racing was what appealed to me about gt sport. You knew you were a better driver not a better mechanic.
@@earlgrey1492 that is of course true in both respects but there are other games that are more realistic in the handling and setup sense. with gt sport, I thought it was about hopping on and playing, racing against people, now I've got to spend hours researching car setups, cross referencing weather, race length and tyre choices for what is at max length a 15/min race. I sure hope you can copy and paste other people's setups. A lot of people will really struggle to get to grips with setups when all they want to do is race against people.

It will probably happen just like GT6. You search for a setup, then it doesn't feel good for your style, then test another one, and another, and another, until you find a closer enough setup and just do little adjustments. I had some colleagues that turned an ae86 in a beast. Every time we raced each other with hatchbacks he just ate us alive. Deep Forest was our top 1 track to bring cars and new setups.
Thank you for putting such effort into helping us learn about this game. I remember getting excited about new GT releases, not only because we knew it was going to be a great racing game, but how much fun it was to discover the soundtracks filled with licensed music. I still have great memories of cars shooting around corners with songs from great bands that I previously never would have thought would go so well with driving. Those days are long gone, I guess. (To me, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec is the best game in the series.) What doesn't seem to be long gone is how the cars simply bounce off of each other and the walls. After seeing phenomenal crash damage in other games, seeing this is really jarring and pulls me out of the illusion. I'd read that there will be a 2 player split-screen mode, so I hope to someday make some great replays with my son like the ones that are still stored on my PS2's memory cards from 20 years ago.
100% agree with you. Too bad the online is so Toxic though, would have been nice to have a Legit Racing mode online... but like most online games, it is plagued with Griefers and shit racers.
@@whitetrashandhellbound6905 I've never had that problem in GT Sport. Forza seems to be the worst game when it comes to griefers. I've never personally cared about crash damage either since if you're crashing, it just means you're not playing the game well. I'd rather development budget go into the main gameplay and car detail rather than damage models. PS I thought Sport had a pretty fire soundtrack personally lol
it's important to note for players who might be new to the GT franchise or maybe haven't played one in a very long time, Polyphony did a good job supporting GT Sport through its lifetime, whether it was patching problems, graphics improvements, new cars, new tracks, etc. I'm sure GT7 will be the same, probably even moreso.
Terrible news about Sport mode. I have no clue about tuning so that mode is now totally off the table ;( Tuning totally ruins games for people who just want to race.

I’ve been playing WRC 10 and absolutely love how realistic the physics are. You actually have to use the gas brake gears and steering properly to prevent a spin out. I tried GT sport for the first time and it was so unrealistic comapared to WRC 10. I just couldn’t enjoy it. I could punch corners with all gas no brake completely sharp turn and couldn’t manage to spin out. Didn’t feel anything like the way a real car controls. I hope GT7 has improved on this drastically because more realistic physics actually requires a driver to develop a skill set to play the game. Developing the physics on a sim level and then giving casual players the option for a more arcade mode would be awesome.
This is closer than most to how cars handle. I know it’s not entirely accurate but it’s pretty good. I do hope it becomes more realistic yes but for what it is it’s pretty good
Great review. I downloaded onto PS4 and plays fine. Overall it's a great improvement over GT6. I would agree, the last license test is brutal. I passed the bronze no problem after watching the sample but getting good, my that will require patience.
I got to play for about an hour on a PS4 (regular) and a 15 year old flat screen. Load times are a little long. In a couple instances I thought it froze but just be patient. While racing there were no glitches and the frame rate appeared smooth. I can't imagine what this looks/plays like on a PS5 with a 4k TV.. It looks amazing on my outdated setup. I have been playing this game since the first release, I didn't buy 6 because I am more of a campaign player than online. Glad to see 7 brought back this mode. I need work to be over so I can get back to it.
I’m so excited about Grand Turismo 7. I remember the first GT I played was Grand Turismo 5 on PS3, those were good times. I want to get a PS5 before I get GT7. This game looks amazing. The customization is great💯
I've been playing this with a thrust master t150 wheel on a PS4 and it's lots of fun. I haven't tried it on the PS5, but framerates still generally feel good on the PS4. I don't have noticeable frame drops during racing, seems to stay around 60 I think. During the intro to races you will see it go down to 30 sometimes when looking at all the cars kind of zoomed out before you start. But generally when actually driving feels like they put a big effort in making it run as close to 60 as they can , I think it is almost always 60. Tell me if you notice otherwise, there isn't an actual fps meter you can have on the screen so it's just by general feeling that I say this.
- The gear shifting sound / action is the same as the GT sport witch i hate. - GR3 cars are the same and sound the same as in the GT sport, it would be better to have the newer models instead. - i prefer if we had the option of an actual RPM gage like the previous games instead of this shift indicator on all cars.. Excellent review. The only thing I would add (I saw this on digital foundry) is about Ray Tracing. When enabled it's everywhere except when you're driving the car. Replays run at 30 fps with it enabled but could make for some beautiful footage in future content.
As a person who only played casually on PS1 and PS2 for Gran Turismo. (Very young Kid). Coming back to play as an adult it’s super fun and not over challenging. It’s a perfect mix of a challenge and fun, and the little details are so perfect. I’m very happy I took the risk and bought it. I’ve played for like 10 hours today lmao. Looks beautiful and plays great. The PS5 controller really adds a different layer of immersion. It’s a grind at times but in a good way, and the game gives you cars along the way so you are never really out of vehicles to use.
Looks good but was hoping for better AI - the 'chase' type races just end up getting to a point where if you have not go to position 3 by the end lap 2 for example then you will not win.... or at the other end as was said you have to go in a worse car than the ai just to get some competition. Will see how it goes!
@@CemRoth i like customising, just not tuning. I mean like tire pressure, ride height etc. That can break the online. In sport mode I think all cars should be equal as far as tunning goes. Bop on like sport
I feel this is the most unbiased review I've seen so far. So much better to listen to someone who isn't constantly trying to overhype things. I've preordered the game, and just felt like a bit of a quick crash course on the different aspects as I haven't touched Gran Turismo since Gran Turismo 2.
I still don't know of any game other than Assetto Corsa that allows you to hand pick your AI opponents' cars. This gives players a chance to experience their own custom races and dream races. Having grown up watching Japan's 'Best Motoring' series, I'm a huge advocate for picking which cars you want to race with. To my knowledge this is a feature that fans of GT have been asking for for a very long time. GT7 seems like the perfect game for this. I really hope Kaz and PD add this feature!
Not particularly happy about having to tune for multiplayer. I loved GT Sport’s accessibility and that you didn’t have to sink lots of time into tuning to be competitive. BoP sorted that out for you and allowed for balanced, close racing.

Not everyone knows how to tune and it's quite complex, this isn't a generational thing I'd say a solid 95% of people wouldn't know how to do a race set up. I love that unmatched Gran Turismo enthusiasm for racing. No other racing game shows how much it loves racing, more than Gran Turismo. It's an addicting quality.
I’m new to Gran Turismo, and racing games in general, GT7 has been a blast. Been loving the feel of it all and the game really helps to teach you how to play. I’ve gotten gold all the way up to IA-5 relatively quick so I agree that it may be a bit easy.
Yes. *GT SPORT* was nothing more than an *Online-Only Prologue* title. I also don't know what people have against GT5 and GT6, because they were still good.
Time will tell how good they get this I am still on a PS4 and hope it performs well, not thrilled about tuning in the GT series for multiplayer as I have limited time for racing and already struggle to manage time for set ups in ACC and IRacing. GT has been my basic race sim.
Great Review! So only thing for me is the track(s) Need to add some debris- They look to clean or computer'ish. Would like some sand & marbles in the corners also some random trash ie: food wrappers flying at the windshield just here & there not a-lot. Just to "dirty-up" the tracks. BTW this can apply for most racing games
The cars now I think have realistic handling and grip The dual sense is now very immersive and helpful AI, when setted on hard, gives you a nice challenge Basically, I agree 100% with what has been said in the review GT 7 really game of the year!
I honestly don't have a problem with having to play a couple hours before unlocking multiplayer it should give you more time to practice and learn the physics before driving online against competition and friends so yeah a understandable Point of the game
Thanks for the review, I'll certainly pick up a copy, but when the price reaches an acceptable amount - £70 is too much, I'll bite at £40-50 so going to wait. It's a shame to hear that in-game funds are now more of a grind, I've heard there's microtransactions in the game, to add funds - so that'll explain why. It's a crying sham that this staple of the PlayStation, has gone the way of money grabbing now; it's more a shame that gamers have just accepted it.
Just incase you're interested, what I did was created a second account that's US based and I buy my games on the US store and play them on my UK account. The reason is that games on US store are $70, but they're £70 on the UK one (which is obviously much more than $70), so I bought some US gift cards online for £52 total and bought it
I really like that it's not a video to watch to unlock multiplayer. I also like the fact that there are "divisions" based on your driver rating. These last 9 hours of waiting are gonna be brutal! Great video mate!
It's a good thing that people have to play for a few hours before accessing multiplayer! I'm glad that this is a "long-haul" game, it will probably be about 10 years until the next time so what is the rush to complete the whole thing in one day?

I don't really care about the other aspects much except for tne driving feel and it certainly isn't like GT Sport where the front seems to have an infinite amount of grip and the way you had to take absurd and inconsistent lines over curbs to be competitive in multiplayer. Will be buying the game for sure.

A simulation Is not made only of 100% accuracy, the first thing is the sensation It can give. This give immersion and a realistic feel.
Some simulations lack in this feeling, for example.
I don't know of you played GT Academy demo back in 2013, maybe It wasn't tue best simulator, but It had an awesome sensation of realism and weight. I hope for this type of physics in GT7

Hello viewers, just to note that there was a 4gb update and it changed the weather options slightly. Nothing drastic but theres a few more to choose from.
Other than that, I couldn't see any other changes.
Also, with the ray tracing vs frame rate mode - this applies to replays and not other modes.
The main thing I couldn't review properly is the multiplayer as I was only able to do some 'reviewer' races and this isn't really reflective of the final game after release.
Ultimately, I really enjoyed the game and it definitely isn't a case of being GT Sport 2.0 - it really does feel like a new game in its own right.
The hud tho... seems the same as sport.

This is definitely the most thorough and detailed review of the game I've seen so far, and the only one I could find that seemed to be strongly from a sim racer perspective. Extremely useful and what finally put me over the top for a last minute pre-order, thanks in no small part to the detailed discussion of the physics. Thanks!
(PS: From what I've seen from other reviewers who concentrated almost exclusively on frame rates and rendering and such suggests that the game is actually set up the way you were hoping, ie when you enable ray tracing, it shows replays in 30fps with ray tracing, but the actual racing is still *always* in 60fps and with ray tracing disabled.)

I'm thinking that the higher fidelity physics are really going to reset the online pecking order. I've driven a lot of hardcore sims in the past and I've felt that the way some people have been driving (online) on GT have been absolutely getting away with murder. Hopefully these new physics will force the drivers to be more deliberate compromising and graceful.
If punting gives no penalties, nothing will change.
Online is a joke. People overtake you by using you to cut and bump out of the corner. Literally not how physics works. I have never seen a single clean overtake, unless I just move out on purpose, but even then people turn in me seeking contact, and instead of them spinning out I get punted away from track. I don't want to hate on you guys playing online, but it's mostly kids playing arcade mode

Hi Steve, I'm fehpat_ from the video. Donte12 was given a penalty for that crash. Before the midnight update, we couldn't see the other players' remaining penalty. This situation changed after the update.

@@Super_GT by now, the online mode is at least in the same lvl that we have for GT Sport? Is it accurate to say that GT Sport online mode is the baseline for GT7 online mode and we tend to get even more with updates? GT7 keeps the two rating systems for skills and sportsmanship?

Watching the car physics portion of this vid, I wonder if TCS is going to be more realistic than in GTS. In GTS, to be fast, you had to go TC-0. Not realistic at all as most race cars rely on some sort of TCS to be driven fast. ACC simulates the best I feel. Hopefully this is the case for GT7

Good luck with Ford GT with no TCS. I battled that car on the Nurb for days and was losing 10 seconds per lap without TCS in GTS.

For controller players, GT7 has gyro steering. Pretty cool.
FYI, the raytracing mode is exactly what you suggested. It reverts to 60fps RT off while racing and only uses RT in menus and replays.
I don't know if you misread it or if it's just poorly explained, but unless you really want 60fps replays there's basically no reason to use the framerate mode

I’m kinda missing an offline championship mode, like they have in AC, ACC and F1 games. Especially for a single player focused game. The last to first challenges get old a bit quick. Would love to have qualification sessions with the ai etc.
This is such a basic feature yet Polyphony never add it, the rolling start last to first model is outdated imo, and even if it wasn't the game needs variation

I'm very excited about the new physics, looks like the people who were doomposting about how the physics would be compromised because it's a dual-platform release were wrong as I expected lol. I noticed how for the AI difficulty, "Hard" only has 2 out of 3 peppers, so it looks like Sophy will be the 3 out of 3 whenever that gets released.
We can see that the game features the 3 usual levels of difficulty of gtsport but i wouldnt be surprised if sophy was to be more than 3 peppers. At 19:29 , you can see that a mission is rated 4 pepper difficult so...

For me, Gran Turismo has always been a single player game so this sounds like it's right up my alley. I didn't want the license tests to be easy or quick just so you can get funneled online. Can't wait to download it.
Exactly, just like the collecting cars, im happy the focus is more on that. GT sport threw the cars at you with all daily cars so there werent really "bonds" with most cars. Now, that i have to save up for example the Carrera GT for a week and then buy it, it will feel more special

Two things I had hoped to see in 7:
1. AI that adjusts to your skill level, thus keeping the game challenging.
2. Greater variability in starting grid position. Seems in "Sport" you start either last or a few positions better than last, and the challenge is always the same - fight your way up a pack of slower AI's. Starting in pole position or nearly so and having to keep ahead of a pack of AI's that are essentially your level +/- a couple of tenths over a lap would make for a fun new challenge.

To be fair this review is aimed at people who play sim racing games, while the IGN review is more broad and aimed at casual gamers. I think they both succeed in what they’re trying to do.

I thought that IGN review was the most dry and boring 9 I’ve ever heard. It almost made me -a huge fan- NOT want to buy GT7, which… again… is for a 9 amazing? A review for GT should be a celebration of what this game is and represents.
I was one of the lucky people that got GT7 early because Amazon shipped it early by a week and this game is definitely for car people and has hit me with a pretty big nostalgic blast & I hope it does with yall too ! And I do hope to see yall on the track this Friday.

It's good to know that you have to actually grind for money rather than just buying every single car after 4 hours of playing. It makes the cars you buy actually count instead of just having a million cars in your garage like an absolute madman.

what really annoys me is the amount of confirmation clicks it take. for example you finish a race - want to go to the next. it takes up to 15 confirmation X clicks to get back to the map.
I’ve never played a GT game before, but I’ve always been somewhat fascinated by the aesthetics of the series. So I decided to give the GT7 a try.
As a compete rookie with a controller, I was feeling kind of at a loss at first because I had to do quite a lot of training to at least get the basics right and going.
And a couple of licenses granted and oceans of sweat poured off my palms later, the game awarded me with what I’ve been imagining and hoping for. Now it’s kind of a zen thing - to race against my own best lap ghost in the Sport mode as clean as I can and then rewatch the replay over and over, feeling proud and satisfied.
Sure, there is a lot more fun to discover ahead, though I’m more than satisfied with what I’m experiencing right now.

I'm curious about the livery editor. Part of the fun of each week's daily races was finding or making a proper livery for whatever car was required for that race. It always annoyed me that you usually couldn't change the livery in daily race A (or any race where you were given the car rather than driving your own).

I used to make custom helmet designs back in the day for old PC F1 games, and I'd like the ability to at least fully design my own helmet.

I'm so grateful for a huge single player game finally. All these years the market is 100% just on the online multiplayer, what is pretty bad. Games like dragon Ball kakarot show's that we still need single player. And I'm really excited to see that change of the physics, for me GT sport was aways just put your car in the right place and use all the extension of the track do beat records, and the lack of physics gave everyone the opportunity to do crazy and unreal things. Suzuka now will be really fun.

One thing I hate is the grind to get credits. If you aren’t a pro e sport racer and win every single race you barely make money but of course that’s so you can use real money to buy credits.

I just noticed something about the difficulty selection screen at 17:31. Even the hardest setting only has 2 of the 3 pepper icons filled out. Maybe that's a hint that they are planning to add one more setting later on, maybe based on that experimental AI that you talked about in a previous video.

I know it's a really small thing but I really would have liked it if the overlay in the race would have been different from GT Sport just to give the game a "new feel" so to speak
Definitely needs to 'moddable'. I love GT HUD, it's clean and shows important data as it should.

The Frame-Rate Mode is automatically in use when racing. There's no ray tracing during a race. The game just dips like that when full grid, dusk or dawn, and conditions are wet. It's just too much even for PS5 when all of those things are happening simultaneously. In other words, you are good by just keeping it in Ray Tracing mode if you can tolerate 30 fps in scenes that actually have ray tracing.
Does your PS5 turn into leaf blower when all that heavy processing happens?

Yeah, it already takes me long enough to get a decent qualifying time even on the slow Race A combos. It's kind of a bummer that I'm going to have to start sifting through youtube/forum posts for setups every week as well now.
@Tarka Dal In GT Sport if i remember correct it startet with tuning on the nthey disabled it for years as it was not working out well. I think it was smart by them to do so.
I think Gran turismo would benefit from offering just an extra camera angle that is more dramatic and not as fixed on the car. Would be more immersive for casual players but wouldnt negatively impact the game since it's just a camera angle
Bruh, immersive and driving from behind the car suspended 2.5m in the air, somehow I think you're using that term incorrectly. Nothing immersive about 3rd person view in a driving game, at all!

They’ve added a lot of movement to the cockpit cam this time.
I really feel they’re missing a great opportunity to go through the history of specific drivers with a B-Spec career mode. With your team of drivers, build up their skills and manage driver swaps at the right time. Also earning new sponsorships to gain extra money for better performance parts. There’s just so much lost opportunity with no fully fleshed out B-Spec mode. It’s also a very useful mode for those that are disabled and have a hard time playing the main game, but really enjoy racing.
B Spec is also good for grinding credits if you are busy or sleeping.

Playing horizon now. Have GT7 and Elden Ring both loaded on my PS5 now. These three games have been my most anticipated and I plan on taking my time. With kids taking free time, these three games may well last me until the fall
Great review! So thorough, touched on everything and an honest opinion, watched a few "Gaming Sites" reviews and they were all rushed and missed out some of the huge changes in this game.
The main thing I want to know: do the trees still pop in at the end of the starting straight at Monza? (Also, trees in general: Screenshot comparisons with GT Sport show that tree shapes/placements are exactly the same in most tracks of GT7, which suggests the tracks aren't completely remodelled. Still, GT Sport was known for having the best trees anyway). Yeah this comment is about trees.

If you don't know how, you can always learn. I'm pretty sure they'll have enough breath of online separation for those who want to run tuned cars, those who rather run tuning locked and those who don't care either way. GT games were originally about learning about these things, one game without tuning in it and everyone complained about the lack of it, it's added and now the complaints are going to other way. Life is about learning, so take some time to learn it on your own, with others, your entire trip through life is a giant learning curve.
The thing is tuning isn't even gonna matter until you get really good. Just copy a good tune and don't look at it again until you can't win anymore.
@@fyahface413 There are loads of games where you have to spend hours for an extra 0.2 seconds. GT Sport was the opposite of that, so it's very, very strange for them to move to the complete opposite, where people have to treat it like a job to be any good. People have real jobs and families.
I've got mixed feelings on the tuning for multiplayer. I want it to be an option for some races, but have at least one daily race that's fixed setup. I do a lot of iRacing, if I'm going to spend time agonizing over every 0.1s on setups I'll go do it there. I'm excited for all the single player content, but I want online to at least be an option for casual racing, not something where I'll get instantly clapped without a setup.
@Bru Rred yeah this is my first gt and I love that detail! I love that it's integrated with your single player experience and that you have to customize your car to meet the requirements sand have you customize the best you can within those limits. It connects me more with the car of my choosing

Im actually the opposite. Tuning is more of a plus then a minus. I hate not being able to tweak my car to handle how I want it to
I'm not excited by the tuning out the gate but like I was telling my buddy while it was really nice in Sport to just be given X amount of cars to pick from that were balanced out the reality was there were typically 2-3 cars everyone was in that were just a better fit for the race and maybe toss in a couple odd ones in that were probably going to finish in the back half. If we get more diversity out of the cars in each race then I'm willing to come around on the tuning. Time will tell how it will play out.

Great review. Loved GT Sport, so glad to hear they've made further improvements with physics and handling, AI, and added things like dynamic weather.
May I just add, I believe, although I am not 100% sure, at 2:17, that NSX Steve overtook was Keiichi Tsuchiya's personal NSX (with the same front splitter and wheels), you can go to Hot Version's UA-cam channel to see the real thing for yourself, but it's so damn cool to see the devs hide something like this for us to discover!

nowadays gaming companies have very tight limits of improvement in terms of graphics, so our expectations on an upcoming game have to change. It shouldn't be all about the appearance of the game and companies are now given more space/time for improvement on other areas such as physics, adding new features and listening to what the public likes. I am glad that gt7 has made a successful combo of all these; hope that in terms of longevity this game is gonna be a good one

Yes I agree about the graphics and physics. The game looked great anyway. I would however expect them to have added way more tracks and kept up to date with the GT cars in the GT series about better. The sounds were alway a bad point for gran turismo too. I played ACC on pc once and I immediately thought "man the sounds are awesome". GT needs some improvements in that area.
@@cobyjim for sure bro. I was disappointed with the initial number of cars and tracks compared to gt6. Important licences such as Silversotne, Monaco etc. are missing, but lets just hope the community;s demands will be heard.
Daily Races and Sport mode will certainly have a new dynamic. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.

We will have to see how it turns out. I know that I had a lot of fun racing online in the few races I did but I can see how it could potentially alienate players that don't wish to put in the extra time to tune their cars.
@@Super_GT My guess is within a short time, tuning guides will be readily available for people who don't want to put in the time and effort to learn tuning in detail.

Great review Super GT, was really looking forward to this after having followed your channel for a while in anticipation of GT7. And you did not disappoint! One tip though, driving with the motion controls when using the controller is a much easier transition when typically you're using the steering wheel. For me just as easy to get golds that way too. If it were up to me that was the default setting. Can't wait to play this for myself ...

To my mind the adjustable setup in multi player is really going to screw over the average player. Knowing exactly how to adjust each car for each track and each condition is an art in itself and then factor in all of the tuning options.
I know from project cars 2 that even if you are a better driver than those around you, if you are unable to get a car setup from someone else you're screwed.
I hope this isn't the case as simple, uncomplicated competitive racing was what appealed to me about gt sport. You knew you were a better driver not a better mechanic.
True, but it will also keep things interesting. Also the most clueless guy could just Google setups for their car.
@@earlgrey1492 that is of course true in both respects but there are other games that are more realistic in the handling and setup sense.
with gt sport, I thought it was about hopping on and playing, racing against people, now I've got to spend hours researching car setups, cross referencing weather, race length and tyre choices for what is at max length a 15/min race. I sure hope you can copy and paste other people's setups.
A lot of people will really struggle to get to grips with setups when all they want to do is race against people.

It will probably happen just like GT6. You search for a setup, then it doesn't feel good for your style, then test another one, and another, and another, until you find a closer enough setup and just do little adjustments.
I had some colleagues that turned an ae86 in a beast. Every time we raced each other with hatchbacks he just ate us alive. Deep Forest was our top 1 track to bring cars and new setups.

I remember getting excited about new GT releases, not only because we knew it was going to be a great racing game, but how much fun it was to discover the soundtracks filled with licensed music. I still have great memories of cars shooting around corners with songs from great bands that I previously never would have thought would go so well with driving. Those days are long gone, I guess. (To me, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec is the best game in the series.)
What doesn't seem to be long gone is how the cars simply bounce off of each other and the walls.
After seeing phenomenal crash damage in other games, seeing this is really jarring and pulls me out of the illusion.
I'd read that there will be a 2 player split-screen mode, so I hope to someday make some great replays with my son like the ones that are still stored on my PS2's memory cards from 20 years ago.
100% agree with you. Too bad the online is so Toxic though, would have been nice to have a Legit Racing mode online... but like most online games, it is plagued with Griefers and shit racers.
@@whitetrashandhellbound6905 I've never had that problem in GT Sport. Forza seems to be the worst game when it comes to griefers. I've never personally cared about crash damage either since if you're crashing, it just means you're not playing the game well. I'd rather development budget go into the main gameplay and car detail rather than damage models.
PS I thought Sport had a pretty fire soundtrack personally lol
it's important to note for players who might be new to the GT franchise or maybe haven't played one in a very long time, Polyphony did a good job supporting GT Sport through its lifetime, whether it was patching problems, graphics improvements, new cars, new tracks, etc. I'm sure GT7 will be the same, probably even moreso.
Terrible news about Sport mode. I have no clue about tuning so that mode is now totally off the table ;( Tuning totally ruins games for people who just want to race.

I’ve been playing WRC 10 and absolutely love how realistic the physics are. You actually have to use the gas brake gears and steering properly to prevent a spin out. I tried GT sport for the first time and it was so unrealistic comapared to WRC 10. I just couldn’t enjoy it. I could punch corners with all gas no brake completely sharp turn and couldn’t manage to spin out. Didn’t feel anything like the way a real car controls. I hope GT7 has improved on this drastically because more realistic physics actually requires a driver to develop a skill set to play the game. Developing the physics on a sim level and then giving casual players the option for a more arcade mode would be awesome.
This is closer than most to how cars handle. I know it’s not entirely accurate but it’s pretty good. I do hope it becomes more realistic yes but for what it is it’s pretty good

Great review. I downloaded onto PS4 and plays fine. Overall it's a great improvement over GT6. I would agree, the last license test is brutal. I passed the bronze no problem after watching the sample but getting good, my that will require patience.
Man it sucks that they changed the final corners on Deep Forest. The older version is so awesome with the fast flowing double left hander.
i do a lot of track days that start super early, and those bits at sunrise just gives me that same feeling.
I got to play for about an hour on a PS4 (regular) and a 15 year old flat screen. Load times are a little long. In a couple instances I thought it froze but just be patient. While racing there were no glitches and the frame rate appeared smooth. I can't imagine what this looks/plays like on a PS5 with a 4k TV.. It looks amazing on my outdated setup. I have been playing this game since the first release, I didn't buy 6 because I am more of a campaign player than online. Glad to see 7 brought back this mode. I need work to be over so I can get back to it.
I’m so excited about Grand Turismo 7. I remember the first GT I played was Grand Turismo 5 on PS3, those were good times. I want to get a PS5 before I get GT7. This game looks amazing. The customization is great💯
I've been playing this with a thrust master t150 wheel on a PS4 and it's lots of fun. I haven't tried it on the PS5, but framerates still generally feel good on the PS4. I don't have noticeable frame drops during racing, seems to stay around 60 I think. During the intro to races you will see it go down to 30 sometimes when looking at all the cars kind of zoomed out before you start. But generally when actually driving feels like they put a big effort in making it run as close to 60 as they can , I think it is almost always 60.
Tell me if you notice otherwise, there isn't an actual fps meter you can have on the screen so it's just by general feeling that I say this.
You say nothing about microtransactions, maybe you don't know this but i'd like to hear how you explain it
- The gear shifting sound / action is the same as the GT sport witch i hate.
- GR3 cars are the same and sound the same as in the GT sport, it would be better to have the newer models instead.
- i prefer if we had the option of an actual RPM gage like the previous games instead of this shift indicator on all cars..

Excellent review. The only thing I would add (I saw this on digital foundry) is about Ray Tracing. When enabled it's everywhere except when you're driving the car. Replays run at 30 fps with it enabled but could make for some beautiful footage in future content.
As a person who only played casually on PS1 and PS2 for Gran Turismo. (Very young Kid). Coming back to play as an adult it’s super fun and not over challenging. It’s a perfect mix of a challenge and fun, and the little details are so perfect. I’m very happy I took the risk and bought it. I’ve played for like 10 hours today lmao. Looks beautiful and plays great. The PS5 controller really adds a different layer of immersion. It’s a grind at times but in a good way, and the game gives you cars along the way so you are never really out of vehicles to use.
Looks good but was hoping for better AI - the 'chase' type races just end up getting to a point where if you have not go to position 3 by the end lap 2 for example then you will not win.... or at the other end as was said you have to go in a worse car than the ai just to get some competition. Will see how it goes!

Wow, hearing tuning is on in sportmode makes me reconsider buying this. I hate tuning and really enjoyed the level playing field in Sport.
Once meta tunes come out from players I’m sure you’ll be able to just copy them for your races

I feel this is the most unbiased review I've seen so far. So much better to listen to someone who isn't constantly trying to overhype things.
I've preordered the game, and just felt like a bit of a quick crash course on the different aspects as I haven't touched Gran Turismo since Gran Turismo 2.
I still don't know of any game other than Assetto Corsa that allows you to hand pick your AI opponents' cars. This gives players a chance to experience their own custom races and dream races. Having grown up watching Japan's 'Best Motoring' series, I'm a huge advocate for picking which cars you want to race with. To my knowledge this is a feature that fans of GT have been asking for for a very long time. GT7 seems like the perfect game for this. I really hope Kaz and PD add this feature!
Not particularly happy about having to tune for multiplayer. I loved GT Sport’s accessibility and that you didn’t have to sink lots of time into tuning to be competitive. BoP sorted that out for you and allowed for balanced, close racing.

Not everyone knows how to tune and it's quite complex, this isn't a generational thing I'd say a solid 95% of people wouldn't know how to do a race set up. Leave the tuning to iracing and ACC imo, GT7 should be more accessible and more driver focussed.

I love that unmatched Gran Turismo enthusiasm for racing. No other racing game shows how much it loves racing, more than Gran Turismo. It's an addicting quality.
I’m new to Gran Turismo, and racing games in general, GT7 has been a blast. Been loving the feel of it all and the game really helps to teach you how to play.
I’ve gotten gold all the way up to IA-5 relatively quick so I agree that it may be a bit easy.

Yes. *GT SPORT* was nothing more than an *Online-Only Prologue* title. I also don't know what people have against GT5 and GT6, because they were still good.
To me it did, yes. It feels like a modern game in it's own right but with strong hints of nostalgia from the old games.
Time will tell how good they get this I am still on a PS4 and hope it performs well, not thrilled about tuning in the GT series for multiplayer as I have limited time for racing and already struggle to manage time for set ups in ACC and IRacing. GT has been my basic race sim.
If it's any consolation, like an idiot I drunk ordered it for my ps5 and bought the PS4 version by mistake

Great Review! So only thing for me is the track(s) Need to add some debris- They look to clean or computer'ish. Would like some sand & marbles in the corners also some random trash ie: food wrappers flying at the windshield just here & there not a-lot. Just to "dirty-up" the tracks. BTW this can apply for most racing games

I honestly don't have a problem with having to play a couple hours before unlocking multiplayer it should give you more time to practice and learn the physics before driving online against competition and friends so yeah a understandable Point of the game

Thanks for the review, I'll certainly pick up a copy, but when the price reaches an acceptable amount - £70 is too much, I'll bite at £40-50 so going to wait. It's a shame to hear that in-game funds are now more of a grind, I've heard there's microtransactions in the game, to add funds - so that'll explain why. It's a crying sham that this staple of the PlayStation, has gone the way of money grabbing now; it's more a shame that gamers have just accepted it.
Just incase you're interested, what I did was created a second account that's US based and I buy my games on the US store and play them on my UK account. The reason is that games on US store are $70, but they're £70 on the UK one (which is obviously much more than $70), so I bought some US gift cards online for £52 total and bought it
Also the game is always online even for the single player stuff which is stupid I'm not paying full price either I'll wait too

I really like that it's not a video to watch to unlock multiplayer. I also like the fact that there are "divisions" based on your driver rating. These last 9 hours of waiting are gonna be brutal! Great video mate!
