I've had my Steam Deck for a little over half a year now, and all I can think about are all the games I've been enjoying on it! Here's 10 JRPGs that are a pure joy to play on it!

Love my steam deck. Played through dqxi, persona 4 & 5, chained echoes, trails of cold steel 1, Grandia 2, and currently playing Sea of stars.

Great video! I really enjoyed Chained Echoes earlier this year and it definitely seems like a perfect game for the Steam Deck.
I mostly played jrpgs on my steam deck. Recently finished chained echoes and triangle strategy with no problems. Currently playing octopath traveler 2.

I replayed the Sky arc towards the end of last year, in anticipation of the Crossbell releases, and I ended up doing about 80% of each game on the Steam Deck (then played Zero almost entirely on the Deck, too). Perfect place to play them.
Got my steam deck yesterday and just swapped out my 64GB SSD for a 1TB. This list came just in time, thank you!
I'm using my Deck as my PC as it can do everything I need. Between retro emulation, Humble Bundles, Steam sales and getting my steps in as I play I'm in heaven!😅

This is my second viewing of this video. The first time made me want a Steam Deck so bad. I got an OLED Steam Deck about a month ago and I totally love it. I'm playing Trails in the Sky which I have always wanted to play. I have bought most of your list including Baldurs Gate 3. I played it docked on my TV and wow. I am focusing on Trails for now. I also bought the 2 Cold Steel games not on Switch so now I own every Trails game portable. I'm loving my Steam Deck OLED and my OLED Switch. Best combo as I have lots of intermittent down time in my career.

And nice list, im currently on the second trails in the sky games, got all 3 sky series, crossbell duology, all 4 cold series, reverie, and planning to play daybreak too on my switch :D
Persona, Trails, and KH games are my go to JRPGs on any system but especially the deck! Really excited for Metaphor and the DQ remasters too :)
The Steam Deck is great for things like this. I played the two Crossbell games on it, for example. Or Chained Echoes
I also just started Trails in the Sky recently (on my ROG Ally). Just made it to chapter 3 and enjoying the slow burn. I hear the slowness pays off at the end, but otherwise, I'm going in fairly blind and enjoying it.
This year i have been playing jrpg on my SD like OT2, Neo the world end... Chrono trigger, crisis core reunion, sea of stars and more.
SD Is so good to play this kind of games!
If I ever end up with a Steamdeck, it is very likely going to end up with a lot of Disgaea on it. Handhelds just go so perfectly with strategy RPGs (and turn-based games in general)
Still dreaming of Trails in The Sky ports to the Switch .... such an amazing set of games 🤩
The steam deck is such an all in one emulation/indie/ some AAA games powerhouse that is so simple to use.
I’m playing the trails series from start to finish only on my steam deck, going to play the pixel remasters as well

Hey Alex (or really Anybody), if you havnt played it yet i would highly recommend Yakuza Like A Dragon! It runs amazingly on SteamDeck and is one of my all time favorite jrpgs.
If I were to get a Steam Deck, I'd probably wanna try to 100% Lightning Returns or Yakuza 0 and make some headway on Crisis Core! It looks like a fantastic machine both for 100%-ing longer games or making short but steady progress on that backlog :)
I’d absolutely play the first three Trails games. Until they decide to remake them for modern consoles, Steam is the only way to play them outside the original PSP.
That's actually the main reason I got the steam deck
The JP-only Vita remasters have English patches available, based on the translations from the PC version. That said the PC version will be cheaper/less work to put together, particularly if you already own a Steam Deck
I have played Alliance Alive, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, ys VIII,, Monster Hunter Stories 2, and a few others on my Deck. I have been slowly chewing through my backlog, and the Deck is just a great rpg machine
Some good games on this list, but I was hoping to see more indie titles! If you want to try more TRPGs like Triangle Strategy, both Symphony of War and Telepath Tactics Liberated work well on Steamdeck. 🙂
So can you give advice for me, i got money enough to buy rog ally and steamdeck,
With my current saving i can get just 1 ally no ssd upgrades, or base steamdeck + 512gb samsung sd card + secondhand 3dsxl + secondhand psvita, or base steamdeck +1tb ssd + second 3dsxl or second psvita?
Or i can save the money for future steam deck 2 right while im finishing all my backlog.
And im mainly play jrpg or rpg in general the only triple a games i want to play is released before 2022, which steamdeck can play decently enough i dont mind 30fps. And do you think like when in the future ff16 comes to pc, will steamdeck can play that too? In your opinion which handheld best for me? Thank you :D

If I have a PS5 and Series X and get a Steam Deck, will any achievements/trophies I unlock on them transfer to my applicable profile? Will saves transfer?

Yes, but it’s an acquired taste! Gotta unlearn and relearn it to understand! There’s very little else like it out there!

The deck was the ideal place to play sky. I initially tried on pc but sky can have very long sessions of dialogue and i tend to play late at night so when its time for bed i have a hard cut off.
Being able to simply sleep the deck was a huge deal for me. Not sure if id have been able to accommodate the games structure without it.
Same with cold steele. Had i played it on the x box one instead of the ps4 the inability to suspend the game into rest would have been a huge hurdle.
I will say for anyone playing the Trails games on the steam deck. Would need to know how to manually move save folders and how to find them on the steam deck. Cold Steel 4 and supposedly Riviera both need this. Either that or install on pc, get bonus for carry over data and then let the cloud sync your save file. Then just start on deck and let it sync again and bingo done.
Sky 1/2 doesnt require anything like that. I just booted it and it knew what to do.
Or do you mean if you played one on pc and the other on deck? I didnt do that so that could be an issue for sure.
@@ChicCanyon I only meant Cold Steel 4 and Riveria. You do need to move the save files. It won't detect it on its own. Maybe Riveria will get patched later to know the correct path but not right now. Zero and Azure also worked well and I didn't need to move any files. Why I mentioned specifically CS4 and Riveria only.

I want to get star ocean the second story R but even 20% off its still expensive for me.... though it does look like a fun game to play on the deck and Octopath traveler II looks cool .... triangle strategy looks good too all expensive but idk looks like fun eh
I 100 perecented peraona 4 golden and 5 royal on my steam deck loved every moment now im working on persona 3 then persona 3 reloaded

i love my Steam deck i finish Sky trilogy and Croosbell now i gonna play cold steel ❤i use Proton for the Sky Trilogy so that why i didn't see those problem
No SteamDeck here, nor do I want one (I don't have a good use for one) but I love the technology, and the fact that it has spurred other companies to create competing products. I'm impressed that you were able to play those AAA games on it!
About Trails in the Sky movies? I think they always play slower. Seems to be a known issue with the Steam versions that never got fixed.

baldur's gate 3 is kinda jrpg-y? it's a class-based teambuilder with turn-based combat, plus waifus! not sure what else it's missing
The actual style of play. It’s very Western RPG in that there’s a set number of enemies on the field that aren’t replenished at all, plus a ton of customization that isn’t really a quality of JRPGs
@@BacklogBattle I guess when I think western I think action-based systems, and JRPG I think classes/turn-based. at least personally.
@@jhon1406 yea, that’s not quite accurate, especially since one of the biggest Western RPGs from the 90s is, in fact, Baldurs Gate! There’s a ton of turn based Western games like Dragon Age and Divinity Original Sin
