It's a great timepiece, Ivet. So good that you hang onto it. I have a collection of designer solid gold watches that I started after college but now I just wear my Apple watch and I need to change the batteries in my legacy watches. The value of yours is excellent. Mine (Lady Rolex Datejust with diamond bezel) was 11K and I felt I got a bargain!

The center links aren’t more shiny because they are made out of white gold. Just the finishing is different. It is 904L steel super highly polished.
Only the bezel and some indices on the dial are made of gold.
Different on yellow/rose gold two tone where the center polished links are genuinely gold.

That is what I thought too until I went on Rolex website. Maybe there is a mistake

I think it is very intimidating and frustrating that Rolex basically forces you to buy on the secondary market unless you have connections to buy directly from them or authorized partners (who also are reluctant to sell to 'just anyone'). I've heard that some retailers keep waitlists that they never intend to fulfill. I understand this a strategy with some heritage brands who want to control their clientele - for whatever reason - but there are so many of their watches in the secondhand market that I can't see how their strategy actually controls who is buying and wearing them. It just adds to the uncertainty of what you're purchasing. Since you've been in the retail jewelry industry, I'm wondering if you have any suggestions about how to safely buy one if you don't have access to buy directly. Thanks!

You know I didn’t have the experience. I came to the store and purchased a watch. I know their production went down in past years and I heard of what you are mentioning but I think it’s like that only for the few last years. It wasn’t like that always. What I heard from ex SA is that Rolex is more focused on full gold timepieces over mix metals, the the mix metals aren’t available as much anymore. Of course it’s all about money.
