Sheikh ibn baz may Allah have mercy on him said that reciting the Quran al Kareem with maqamat is haram, and that is true. Plus reciting whilr trying to respect the maqam takes away the tadaburr and pondering upon the ayat of the Quran al Kareem. So the duty upon us is to reciting the book of Allah with concentration and pondering while trying out level best to reciting with a beautiful voice in our normal voice without being too extreme in that matter.
You do realize maqam is your natural voice when reciting with beatification? Every qari every sheikh that leads the haram used maqams u can give me one sheikh who recites in a non monotone voice that dosent use maqams because you cant. Maqam is your natural voice when you beautify your recitation. All it does is help you structure that voice and give it a name for remembrance.

And i have seen people who teach those "maqamat", They tell you the melody and they sing it like you are in middle of a musical class, سبحان الله! Is this what the book of Allah has become to us?! Just a book that you sing?! Has the prophet peace be upon him or the companions or they followers of the companions recited like this and taught people to recite like this?! Where in the Quran or the Sunnah does it tell you to recite in these filthy musical melodies or even mention their name?! May Allah grant us ikhlas.
