Nice to see you’ve improved Betty’s drivability, durability, reliability, and credibility! Decreasing her fragility while simultaneously increasing her utility and flexibility is testament to your versatility, creativity, and eccentricity. Betty also maintained her femininity! I’m sure collectively, we your audience, feel an affinity (if not a responsibility) to enjoying the publicity with which expose each new video’s possibilities. To miss one now would be an act of futility! (I hope these comments aren’t met with any hostility.)
Far from it, there is no enmity towards such amity. With your capability to write with such agility, you will doubtless find the hilarity that fends off senility .. a coming certainty as our days stretch towards eternity.
Having (I would guess) twenty years of seniority, I will, no doubt, miss the opportunity of escaping this life with impunity before you in your youthful vitality! Until then I’ll continue to enjoy your videos and stop these comments, which are just silly!@@SlowRoamers
YA, I KINDA NEED TO STAY 2WD ON MY 2003 SILVERADO FOR NOW. OLD AND NO FUNDS. BUT I HAVE ALL THE POTENTIAL PARTS PICKED OUT. DIGGIN WHAT YOU DID, IT SITS RIGHT AND YOU DONT HAVE ALL THR EXTRA MECHANICALS TO WORRY ABOUT. THANKS FOR GREAT IDEAS. HAPPY TRAVELS... BE BLESSED.🙏🙏🤙🤙👍👍
All sorted out hooray! Looking forward to the Baja adventures. One of these days we’ll have all our ducks in a row and get down there ourselves. I still need to do some inside build but the weather has been very yucky lately.
If you weren't interested in doing much of a lift (I feel like my Express is high enough as it is, and my build is VERY light, not even close to payload, which upgrades would you recommend? Everything is stock at the moment. It's a 2011 Express 3500, former police van. I do some off roading, of course. No plans to rock crawl anytime soon!
I believe WTD offers a 2” lift which is a nice way of getting a little bit more clearance and will allow you to clear 265/75/16’s with minimal trimming. Just having more clearance and knobbier tires is a really great start. But, ultimately, it depends on where you want to be able to go. If it’s just a matter of driving down some gravel roads from time to time, the focus on tightening up your suspension. Good shocks, aftermarket bump stops and new steering components will go a long way to make your drive feel a lot better. You could talk to the guys at WTD about doing a progressive spring for your van that doesn’t lift it much, but you’d still get the stability and ride quality of a progressive leaf pack.
@@SlowRoamers Thanks for the answer Alex! This gives me things to think about. I am adding Sumo spring bump stops (Baja destroyed my stock ones) and looking at how to make my suspension a little tighter. I don't want bigger tires. I like my 18-20 mpg I get on my van right now, so that's also why I want to keep it fairly stock.
Nice! Basically all I did was rip through the yards looking for 3500’s, with a quick glance at the hub I could usually tell if it had an axle like what I needed. Best to get under and look at the axle tag. There’ll be a “ratio” and “diff” on the tag if it says std under diff that means it’s open, if it says loc then it’s a locking diff.
I’d have to drive a van with a g80 in it to know for sure, but I find the LSD hooks up and grabs whenever I need it to. It’s been a really great addition thus far. There’s been no other modifications to the engine or trans.
So, no transfer case, front rear, drive shaft and the extra weight they add. But you have a winch when you need it. Simply awesome.
Yeah. The plan is that I won’t need to actually pull ourselves out.🤣
Weldtec Designs products are Top of the Line!! They know their stuff.
Yes they do! I’ve really been impressed with their knowledge and service, great business!

soooo sick, what a rig. you're inspiring me to reconsider a van as a future pan-am option!
Whew! Well, I’d start with the express platform, excellent vans with a good track record.
Awesome. Glad to see y'all back up and running!
Same here! But only for a short time. Saturdays video will show you why I say that.😁 Thanks for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Oh no! Sure it'll get sorted in time tho!

Woot woot! Thanks for watching!🙌🏻
Getting down to the wire!! Gotta make it by month end - that's the goal! 🎉
Diego was very concerned that Megan was not in this video.
Also: SEMI!
Aww, don’t worry, she’ll be back. You’re gonna have to fill me in on SEMI…🤔
@@SlowRoamers we dorky Americans say sem-ay not sem-ee

Great vid as always. Currently searching for my own Dana 70 HD3 super. What was your search criteria when scouting the salvage yards?

@Roamlndr, great tips!
Glad I watched the other two videos only to see the same stuff in this video. 🤦🏼

So you went with a 4.10 gear. What was the gear before?
We had the factory 3.73 gearing before.
How does your rear end compare to the G80 in my 3500? Also, have you done any mods under the hood or on the transmission?

@@SlowRoamersthanks! I just learned my g80 is a locker, I’m guessing they’re probably similar except for mine being a 3.42
The g80 will actually lock both wheels. In the event of lifting a wheel, both wheels will spin whereas with the LSD that lifted wheel won’t spin.
