I was definitely a slow reader, falling asleep, having many books on the go, but only read the first chapter and lost interest. It was because I was going too slow and also used sub vocalization which also slowed me down. . I have implemented following my finger on the page, setting a timer and I have read 80 pages in my book in the last two days with full comprehension and actually, I am feeling the excitement of what I’m reading. This is a life changer.!! Thanks Mr Kwik!!

Jim you have taught me so much I may never have the opportunity to see you in person as my brain coach but ever since I have since followed your teachings I have improved by 50% in all aspect of my life God bless you jim hope to see you one day in person
I watch a lot of YT videos at 1.5x - I can still follow along unless it is a very complex topic - usually it isn't. I get through them faster and save time.
no wonder why 🇿🇼 Zimbabwe is the best Country in Africa 🇿🇼 when it comes to education. Thank you so much Kwik 😊 this reminds me of my Primary Teacher. 😊❤😊 I should enquire more about this skill. ❤❤❤❤
I’ll be honest. I just started reading as a hobby and my reading time my first day was astronomically slow… However, I noticed whenever I got distracted and had to restart the whole paragraph I was able to read much faster while skimming. Of course, we all know what skimming is, but doing that made me realize something in that moment. I had a hard time when I was intentionally trying to read fast before, but then I was able to skim read very quickly somehow. What gives? Well, what I noticed immediately was that my eyes felt different. I kept reading and focused on that feeling for a minute. It turns out the muscles around my eyes loosened up while I was skimming and that’s what made it easy to do. I felt like I was squinting a bit when I lost focus and couldn’t do it anymore. Not sure how much this plays into everything, but it definitely helped make a noticeable difference in my speed right away. I have to think about it and make the muscles relax, but hopefully it will become more natural over time. Idk why, but I apparently feel the need to sort of squint when I read.
I'm a slow reader. I keep doing the reading exercises but it never increases my speed. I've read the book, tested my speed, and followed the instructions - many times. No matter what, my speed never increases. Every time I test it, it's exactly the same.
Do your eyes feel tense when you read? I find it helps to focus on relaxing the muscles around the eyes. I realized this helped when I was trying to skim read something I already read to refresh my memory and tried to figure out why it suddenly was easy lol.
Thank you for advice, very helpful! It also depends on the content of the material, if it’s super complex topics, it’s hard to read fast and understand the material such as IRC tax codes.😅 what’s your suggestion for reading complicated technical materials
Thank you Jim Kwik. I do subvocalization to help me learn english words and how to pronounce it. I thought I could remember the english words if reading it with sound and repeat them multiple times.😅 Your thoughts?
I don't think I read fast, but I have noticed that when people read announcements or talks from the board I pace through it and get extremely frustrated with how loooooong they drag it out. Then I'm already through it all and thinking about something else. I'm going to test my reading speed...
Is it bad for our brains to multi task? I would have thought it would be good since it’s making your brain focus on multiple things?? Is that not good?😅
