- Just days after earning the Republican nomination for North Carolina governor, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson is facing backlash after comments he made in 2020 resurfaced on UA-cam.
The comment happened at an event hosted by the Republican Women of Pitt County. Robinson, who was running for lieutenant governor at the time, was caught on camera saying he would "absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn't vote."
But what's the full story behind the video?

Bingo. That is the point of the original question posed to Candace Owens. "What exactly is it you are trying to go back to?"
He does know that women not voting in America is the same American where he couldn’t vote either right?
Tap dancers for WS don't care about the details.
He wants to go back to when women couldn't vote okay 💀 let's go back to the days when African Americans like his self were 2nd class citizen and black men we're treated worse than white women.
Women shouldn't have the right to vote. The fact that others have been denied that right is neither here nor there. It was correctly denied to women at the time, and we continue to pay a heavy price for having given a loaded pistol to self-absorbed infants.
@@65if2007 um what are you just saying women shouldn't vote to be sexist, or are you talking about the history of women not being able to vote I'm not trying to be rude, but I need more context cause I can't understand what you're trying to say
@@myiesha5947 Context? You need CONTEXT? My God, you're as sharp as a tack, aren't you? You're an example of the point that I was making. And I AM trying to be rude.
The answer should have neither. The Republican party of the past is different Republican party of today. Going backwards is not the answer.
Weak argument. His answer easily should have been neither. Period. Stop making excuses.
Correct!
Nope. He gave the correct answer. Women not voting and black people not being genocided is preferrable.
Agreed, plus why would we want to go backwards to ANY point in time, instead of moving forward.
He’s confused about the Republicans at that time
U dumn, this is a 2 option hypothetical, not open discussion on the subject. pick ONE
I don't get it. He's still saying that time was preferable. The fact that he explained why he prefers it doesn't make it ok. Kind of like saying "I'd like to live in the Conquistadores' Americas because at least back then people wanted adventure". He thinks "Republicans for a cause" is a fair trade for suffrage, right?
Correct? These folks at this new stations cannot call themselves journalist. LOL
Hell, at that time, he would be liable to be lynched for daring to speak. He should be careful of what he wishes for, he would find it very dangerous for him, and people of color. That's right. Let's go back to the time where women couldn't vote because people fought for things like women's right to vote... 😂

Nah his answer just went deeper than a Christian or non Christian thought because at those times the dems and Republicans were trying to get any vote they could.. back in the days of real ballot casting...and by the way seems that if you say real Christian then fact check what the Bible says about women see how you correct the GOD OF ABRAHAM ISAAC AND JACOB...❤
😂 so how you answer that question determines whether you're a real Christian? That sounds quite legalistic. You're wrong. It's knowing who Jesus was and what He accomplished and having a personal relationship with Him and believing in your heart who he was and what he accomplished.
This was not taken out of context. Both situations were oppressive and happened at the same time. He is what I call dangerously ignorant.
It was because it completely changes the meaning when you isolate the quote. Out of context, it means he wants women to lose the right to vote; in context, he's saying he want Republicans to become agents of social change again (paraphrasing his words).
@@AfricanThinker86 It still remains. He was given the choice between events in history and events occurring at the same time. Picking the lesser of the 2 evils doesn't make him a good candidate at all.

Simply staggering… are these women really defending this guy?
That's not a defense since both of those were at the same time.
Nothing you presented here makes anything better
He shouldnt have answered at all...when in fact, he should have went around the question like what normally politicians do...
Someone needs to fact check the fact check. In the original video clip he states the question asked as “what America” not “which America”. He states, “What America are we going back to to make America great again? The one where women couldn’t vote or the one where black people were swinging from trees?…” He could have chosen to answer the first question and describe the America he wants to go back to, though maybe he did do just that.
He's being a bit more misleading and the fact check missed the mark. He wanted to make the point that the modern Republican party resembles the Republican Party of 1920. Politically they were liberal progressive in 1920 not the conservative party they are today. The conservative party, Democratic Party, opposed women voting in 1920. He was careful avoid describing it from a political point of view instead he chose to use party affiliation which without context is very misleading.
Exactly. Fact checking is needed. Dems don’t give the whole story when part looks better for them.
He should have said to go back to when Americans took pride in and cared about this country. When immigrants came to our country legally. And assimilated and pledged their allegiance to our flag and country. A time when immigrants contributed to our country instead of getting handouts. Those are the kind of immigrants America needs. Not the ones who come illegally and hate America.

However, it was the Democratic Party under reluctant, President Woodrow Wilson who passed the 19th Amendment
In what way is it taken out of context?
Talking about political climate of the time he’d like to return to where women had less rights, exactly what he wants
He should have said “neither.” But when posed with a dichotomous question like the one asked of Robinson, the natural psychological response is to block out other options and look critically at the two choices you’ve been given. To me, all this shows is that Mr. Robinson did not anticipate being presented with a “false dichotomy.” The implicit “rule” of a dichotomous question is that there are no other options. People who follow the rules then answer accordingly. The big takeaway from this, in my opinion, is that Mr. Robinson will be disadvantaged by his lack of experience playing political games.
Its never what they said when they get caught saying it.

First, he prefers a time when someone else's rights are denied rather than when his own would be. That says a lot about his character, or lack thereof. Second, he stands in a party that has no love for him other than his value as a token. He deludes himself that, if his favorite authoritarian gets in office this fall, life for men like him, regardless of his color, will be better. But I think he will be quite disappointed to find that his skin is no longer needed and he won't be allowed the power to hold office for very long. He might even be surprised to find that his right to vote is removed along with women's rights (that are already being removed by this same party). This is the lie people tell themselves to continue on a morally questionable path. "I can safely ride on the back of this crocodile to the other side of the river." It never ends well. The republican party he thinks he knows will chew him up and spit him out the moment it's expedient to do so.

To add a little more context . Robinson was trying to make the point that Republicans in 1920 fought for social change and for the right of women to vote . What's missing is that the Republican party then was a progressive liberal party. He clearly said that at the time women couldn't vote, Republicans were working for real social change including the women's right to vote. He's a Republican and he was saying that Republicans were right to fight for the woman's right to vote. Whether the Republicans actually were fighting for that, or whether the Democrats were fighting for it I don't know, but the point is he thinks that it's a good thing that women have the right to vote and that if he lived at a time when they didn't have that right, he would have been fighting for it.
How I took this was him choosing living to fight to vote over ppl dying.
He is a sanctimonious self indulgent man, addicted to porn, and apparently blames women for that. Time to study this hypocrites lies and omissions, let alone his emissions, which deserve an even greater study
Forget history, just look at the constitution.
Uh, WCNC? There IS no context for that except that this guy is shady and crazy. Thank you xD
« Taken out of context » is a polite way to say the quote has been *truncated*
Doesn't matter. This man is beyond awful. And anything dealing with that grifter Candice Owens is evil.
