First of all Hindus do not greet by Namaste, and secondly Namaste doesnt mean that.
Hindus greet each other by various words
like "Ram Ram" who is an avatar of supreme godhead vishnu
or "Jai Shree Krishna" which too is for praising vishnu
or "Jai Shree Ram" for the same purpose
Namaste or Namaskar is used by many Hindus. Others use regional greetings like Vanakam or Nomoskar. Ram Ram is common in central India, but nobody says Jai Shri Krishna as a greeting.
