That lime should really help your herd. Although I would recommend using a lot more than one bag for your whole herd. We milk 500 and use 1 bag per pen. Seems to work great except it’s not cheap.
7:00 "At that point I've broken the system" Haha reminded me of your opening one time, what's good in the hood!! Your stock is very well cared for you should be proud. Cheers 🇨🇦
Eric a shower in the basement is a good addition with the environment you work in and the sump pump for the foundation drains locate it away from the bed rooms for sound purposes, have a great day!
I think applying lime that way your getting much better coverage and contact with the surface good job young man . Merry Christmas and God Bless you and your family
So exciting to see your dreams of a new home come together. Thank you for sharing your journey. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. God bless you and your family.
Excellent video Eric! Back when there were more paper mills, farms would use very finely shredded paper waste from the mills. Pennsylvania is a good paper mill state. Might be able to find someone (an old-timer) that knows more about it. Should work with your sawdust spreader. Breaks down fairly quickly in the fields from what I understand. There is a place called Syracuse Fiber that sells paper bedding that serves Pennsylvania. I don't know anything about them. Just a thought. Hope you figure out the source of the mastitis. Great view of the future basement!
Re the mastitis, piet van bedaf runs about 3000 cows in ND and are pretty successful in everything dairy, you may want to contact them. They seem to like to help other dairys.
Always something to do on a farm, even when you think your done for the day, something else pops up. I hope they can get you foundation done, coming right along. Thanks for sharing, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and best of health.
Hope everybody has a great week, especially that Christmas is only a few days away. Remember the true meaning of Christmas the giving of The Ultimate Gift.
you earned my subscription today, you made me chuckle twice. first with the your statement about video editing and breaking the system and then with the tests your patience statement about the robot. 10/10, keep up the good work.
It goes to show how farmers and ranchers have their animals welfare at heart. A healthy, well, and well fed animal is at its peak performance and productivity. It's simply good business to ensure the animals are well cared for. Great vid as always 10GDM.
Hope that thermocal works for you guys, we spread it morning and night before we chop straw and we definitely have seen an improvement in the somatic cell count
You should get a spare GoPro and film a Timelapse of the house build over the next few months from the top of the silo. Just mount it up there and make it take a photo twice an hour or something. Will look cool!
I believe sawdust bedding is slightly acidic, which is good for offsetting the alkaline environment in the barn. Mixing in a little lime will negate that effect. The best is to normally use only sawdust, and once in a while surprise the bacteria with a LOT of lime. Bacteria will be like "whaaat?!"
Merry Christmas to you and your family. I used to sit in the barn for a little while on Christmas Eve listening to the sounds thinking these might have been the same sounds heard by Mary and Joseph on the night our Savior was born.🇺🇸🚒🚑🐄🙏🏻🎄
Great video as usual. Yea, I like what you suggested showing a video of you editing a video, which edits that video, etc. I actually am commenting on what you said several videos back about your basement being 9 ft. Even with the rocks it is worth having them bust them up because you will really like and appreciate a 9 ft ceiling in your basement. We did out basement with 9 ft ceiling and finishing the basement off, you can easily put in a drop ceiling, which is easy and looks great and if or when you have any issues (electric or water leak) it is easy to repair and then replace that one or two panels and that is it. No cutting a drywall ceiling and patching and then doing it again years later. A taller basement will make it feel less like an old style basement. Good decision in my opinion.
Good idea young on the lime procedure 👌hope it works out. Eric how many years has Megan been with you guys ?? Good luck on house. Merry Christmas to EVERYONE involved.
At the dairy farm I work at we use the lime and we have a little cup we spread over the beds where the wet spots are once we clean them off and it works really well doing it that way.
On our farm I put lime (the same one you do on the land to raise the PH) twice a day along with finely chopped straw. A high PH in the bedding also means much less bacterial activity.
Hello Eric, i think your Management of the stalls is pretty good. An advice of my side could be to check your milking routine and machinery, in our case there were some settings changed somehow and it was the reason for Mastitis issues. Farming is about always adapting, questioning the way you do stuff and as you Said trying things out. Best regards from Germany.
nice theory - like the way you're constantly changing things up - based on data inputs and finding new measures. I was going to suggest longer beds so utters are further away from poop alley (next barn build).
They want the cow to be close to the edge of the bed, so that most of the manure and urine goes into the alley, rather than into the bed, when the cows are laying down.
I wonder if you could come up with something like a chalk bag for rock climbing to keep some of the lime right on your hip so you can scrape and spread the lime all in one pass
I really enjoy your "Moo"-vie episodes. I also really like milk, cheese, all dairy products. Keep up the good work and take care not to get hurt. Sam Allen
The one time you need assistance while inside the silo -grain bin alone, no one will come. A good practice might be to always have a spotter while one is inside the grain bin - rescue at the ready.
9:45 "use fodder for feed, but has some toxins so we can use it for bedding" - How does the cow know the difference between bedding and feed? If the toxic bedding tastes like feed wouldn't the cow eat it?
Always amazing videos enjoy all them I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and excited about seeing the new house come together. Thanks for allowing us to come along with you on the journey.
I see Duchess still rules the roost. Hope the new battery does the trick. And what’s up with the red cans as of late. Any who try to stay dry. Plus give some updates on your sister’s wedding. My wife loves children and weddings.
Eric you wouldn't want to deal with the weather we are getting 1 windchill warning 2 winter weather advisory 3 winter storm watch 4 Blizzard warning 5 snow and blowing snow advisory. 6 winterstorm warning

"They test your patience "😂😂😂 electronic things always seem to have a mind of their own
Putting a GoPro on top of the silo to do a time lapse of the house build would be pretty cool.
your video's involving cows are the high light of my sons day. he's 2 years old and has 7 cows here at home but loves watching yours.
Get a concrete placer to scrape stalls works good
May the coming snow storm miss you and the footing for your new home be completed. Thanks till next time.
Nice view of the construction site from up the silo!

I really like your video style. Give us the straight scoop without a lot of unnecessary info. Great job, keep it up!
Thank you for the bringing us along on your daily work. I really enjoy each one. love the little pup.
“It’s been fun dealing with these robots. They really test your patience 😅” = if this robot wasn’t so useful I’d strangle it 😂
I run a family farm about three hours away from Lancaster and it's crazy seeing things that you do that we also do
These videos are fun to watch every time !! Never gets old!! Keep it coming and. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

We switched teat dip/s and inflations within about 6 months of each other. Better teat condition and faster cleaner milk out.
Your new house looks like the state of Oklahoma! I’m an Okie and I can’t wait to see your house go up! Exciting times for your family!
It’s 04:45. I’m home early and probably have a few days with minimal work lined up. It’s going to be nice going to bed before 6
I hope you get the basement formed before the real cold weather coming this week. Also that you and family have a great and blessed Christmas
Hope everybody has a great week, especially that Christmas is only a few days away. Remember the true meaning of Christmas the giving of The Ultimate Gift.
Jesus is what Christmas is about!!
The gift of life 😉
,and what is that??
@@CraydenGamingOfficial actually it isn’t it’s a pagan holiday celebrating the unconquered sun, winter solace. Jesus was born sometime in June/ July…
You could maybe get a hand held garden fert/ seed spreader for the lime🤷♂️
Make a few mods to it and it might work good.
Mainly a bigger hopper.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years 2023 May this year be a lot better god bless you all from Indiana.
you earned my subscription today, you made me chuckle twice. first with the your statement about video editing and breaking the system and then with the tests your patience statement about the robot. 10/10, keep up the good work.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. We look forward to seeing you as 2022 ends and 2023 begins.
We lime our stalls daily. Instead of using hand, we take a calcuim bottle, cut it and make a scoop, seems to work nice. Good luck

May the Good Lord bless your farm 🙏
4:15am is also known as coffee-o-clock
Merry Christmas 🎅 to you.
Happy holidays Eric and family. Blessings to you all.
Merry Christmas!
SCC is a battle on every dairy farm. The disadvantage of the pit under the barn floor is not being able to bed with sand.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Eric! Thanks for ALL THE CONTENT
Always looking after the herd. Merry Christmas to you, your dad and both of your families. Stay safe.

+1
That was a great view of the new place from the silo 👍🏼
We chop dry hay or straw mix it 50/50 it seamed to help in fall and spring
Good video !! & blessed MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all
Daniel from central Mississippi
check out those whirlybird spreaders. Might be quicker and more even 2:28
Busy Busy as alway's Eric , good to watch your videos .
Merry Christmas to you and your family. I used to sit in the barn for a little while on Christmas Eve listening to the sounds thinking these might have been the same sounds heard by Mary and Joseph on the night our Savior was born.🇺🇸🚒🚑🐄🙏🏻🎄
Thanks for another great post. I like your style of making them along with the voice. Cows a barn looking real good.
Merry Christmas to all.
Another great. Merry Christmas to all of you!
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🐄 Man
The video of you editing video is very meta. Love the content. Hope you have a great Christmas with the family.
I had missed the routine morning milking chores and the cows reluctantly getting up to get milked. Great to see them again. 🙂

VINK sells a small Screwdriver driven Limespreader, ,maybe that helps with the new strategy
You need to do a time lapse of the house build from the top of that bin! 👍
When we had big mastitis problems we did that too, but we have 900 beds! I hate doing it by hand.
On our farm I put lime (the same one you do on the land to raise the PH) twice a day along with finely chopped straw. A high PH in the bedding also means much less bacterial activity.

You should get a dewalt DCL077 or DCL074 light for when your working in the silos.
I wonder if you could come up with something like a chalk bag for rock climbing to keep some of the lime right on your hip so you can scrape and spread the lime all in one pass
When I milked cows we put lime on everyday and instead using our hands to put it down we used an old feed scoop and sprinkled it on and worked great!!
Another great video, Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos for us to watch.
You should check out the vink lime spreader
I have a vink lime spreader it works off a battery drill one fill does 60 cubicle beds ….. heavy coat of lime
Merry Christmas to you and your family happy new year
I really enjoy your "Moo"-vie episodes. I also really like milk, cheese, all dairy products. Keep up the good work and take care not to get hurt.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family!
Some of the cleanest cows I have seen. Dot watch a lot a of Operation’s but they are cleane
I love watching your videos. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!! 🎉❤❤
Have a Happy Christmas Eric, to you and your entire family. God Bless you all.

That’s what I was wondering too.
Interesting video, good work! Thumbs Up 👍👍👍😉
Thanks 😊
Great vedio. You and your family have merry Christmas.
Marry Christmas to all the family and Megan!!! Have enjoyed the year.
Always amazing videos enjoy all them I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and excited about seeing the new house come together. Thanks for allowing us to come along with you on the journey.
I use thermocal or unical can hand spread it on stalls or mix it in bedding. Hydrated lime can actually be hard on the teats.
Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas. God Bless.
Praying for y’all 😊
LOVE YOU ERIC

Good management
Nice video! Happy 2023!
Going along smooth.
I wonder if you could try using some kind of seed spreader to put that lime out easier
Eric you wouldn't want to deal with the weather we are getting
1 windchill warning
2 winter weather advisory
3 winter storm watch
4 Blizzard warning
5 snow and blowing snow advisory.
6 winterstorm warning
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
thanks for the great video eric god bless
I see you use sawdust sometimes the sawdust is from greener wood so it's holding water and does absorb waste as well and increase bacteria near udders
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The video was awesome. thank you Eric
Merry Christmas to you and your family 👪
