Is there any evidence for this? I look off to one side when I am visualising, as do all people, who are skilled at visualising - I do not need to follow the speaker all the time, if anything it is really distracting to my full comprehension. There are times when I really want to follow the speech and I intentionally turn off visual distractions. I have worked with youngsters with double and flickering vision who find looking at faces quite disturbing.

This is not supported by science. What about recorded music? What about audio books? Come on. Be better.
