I often look back at the video from my flight and figure out what mistakes I made by looking at the cloud developments in high speed. Then when I’m out flying I try to imagine how they would look like, it helps for sure!
Hey mate, do you ever listen to tunes/podcasts up there or is that a no no? Also, what sort of timeframe do you allow for in terms of a walk out? ie if you have a shocker and end up landing somewhere way out in the boonies, is it ever a multi-day walk out or do you mostly get out that same day? Do you take gear in case you have to camp out just in case?
When I'm flying XC I don't listen to music, i'm mostly concentrating on flying. In NZ you can pretty easily end up in a place that takes several days of walking to get out. I usually fly with a tent, sleeping bag and food for 2-3 days as a precaution
Thanks mate, so to be honest I’m navigating from memory but if I land I use NZ topo 50 for hiking. During flight the app that I’m using for flight data is Flyskyhy
Wow! Very cool way to watch an epic flight! I'll definitely be showing this to my non-paragliding friends. Maybe they'll finally get what I've been talking about 😅
Incredible footage. The clouds forming above the thermals and every move you made to stay in lift emphasized with the hyper lapse 🤩. To my untrained eye it would appear you run the ridges and sun facing slopes but I’m interested to learn what made you hang a right at 2:43? 😊
Awesome thanks mate! Well, I think both would have worked to be honest, but at some point I needed to track east. So I just saw a route through to the next range so I took it, I could've stayed on the same range and crossed higher up and this might've been quicker but I was concerned the wind would be stronger there and with more of a northerly component to it (which would be head wind).
@@BenjaminKellett this is such a technical and skillful sport. I wasn’t so interested and fascinated with cross country until I watched your clips. I was inspired to take up the sport many years ago after watching a pilot ridge soar on dune du pyla and now I’m inspired again to XR one day in such an incredible location 🤩
This is as helpful as it is beautiful. Just trying to figure out where I would go, seeing the transition and the clouds popping up. Thanks!

Brilliant version of your flight - and ace to see you are back :)
Thanks mate!
Amazing!! Still struggling with my first XC flights, but one day I'll do this. Thank you 🙌
Awesome, keep going! It will come with time!
I have a question how are you going up again and again after some time...?

O man! I love it!
Thanks!! 😁
Hi Ben! Another amazing video, cograts! What app do you use for navigation?

Awesome!! Yeah I think it’s a nice way to demonstrate to people how long distance paragliding is possible!
Spectacular ❤
Thanks a lot 😊
Epic! Awesome to watch
Thanks!!
@BenjaminKellett you're famous bro, you say you're from New Zealand, first thing they say is Ben Kellett 💯

My guess would be because the peak up ahead was snow capped so less likely to be producing?? 🤔🤔
