Bondi Rescue follows the work of the elite professional Lifeguards who patrol Australia’s busiest beach. This is Australia’s real life Baywatch! A word of advice if you can’t swim look where you’re going and don’t go in the deep. Stay in between the flags!
The problem is that people do that but can still be swept out by a wave or a strong current very suddenly even if they are only waist deep or they could lose their footing and fall into deeper water. The currents and waves can also change very quickly so unless you know the beach well and are very experienced you can still get into danger

Tom Stratford-Tuke that’s facts. If you just wade halfway out to the buoys, you’ll keep getting swept further and further out into sea. This guy seems to have had zero experience with a beach, let along a surfing beach. Luckily the lifeguards are wonderful and pulled him out to safety.
Or just don’t go in the ocean when you can’t swim I don’t understand why ppl do that

"Swim between the flags" a simple reminder but hard to follow
The sea is unpredictable unless you are well versed on where a rip may usually occur. Even if you're in a safe zone, once there's a change in water currents, plus you're not a good swimmer, you will get sucked away from shore.
