I have a enemies. Meet Timmy: today was bring your kid to work day and Timmy is one of those kids 😢 Timmy will jump on other enemies heads or just sticks on there back and is faster than the normal office worker.
You could make a manager that acts almost like a spawner as he constantly sends out small interns to attack you but as soon as you get rid of the manager they all run away, or you could make a roomba or something.
The wait was worth it! I would suggest adding some sort of healing station or something, like a coffee machine that both you and the enemies can drink from. I feel like it would add some more intensity to the game as having to decide between destroying the coffee machine so the enemies cant heal, or trying to get rid of all the enemies first would be pretty cool.
You could change Greg to being a bit like a zombie, where if Greg wakes up from either too much noise or activity around him then he takes his coffee and joins the hunt.
Hey, small suggestion for sleepy. since he looks almost identical to steve maybe to indicate to the player that they're 2 different characters you could have sleepy beef up and grow muscles after drinking the coffee then deflate again when they're tired.
How about a printer that comes to life and shoots paper at the player with a sort of shockwave where the printer shoots about a dozen paper sheets in all directions.
You should consider baking some dust / radial impact to the ground pound on the big one. Both makes it juicier and telegraphs where the damage zone on the attack is. I'd also seriously consider blob shadows under enemies to help clarify the perspective and add a bit of visual fidelity.
For another enemy you could have a bored one that swings around on a swivel chair and bumps off things and stuns the player when it knocks into them. They wouldn't directly target the player but just bounce off things and move in little bursts like pushing off from the floor and slowly slow down (but not completely) then start again. Just an idea. I love this series and especially the game 😉 😁
Idea for a final boss whenever you get to that stage of game creation: He is simply called "The Boss", and summons enemies at random, while doing basically the same thing as Bob, while also using all of the weapons that the player can use, and all of the weapons that NOCs such as Steve can use, which he switched between.
The coffee supplier: a “healer” type enemy that looks for a coffee machine, and if found, everyone on the enemy team gets an energy boost (speed, strength, etc.) Coffee machines can be destroyable after a couple hits so they aren’t too overpowered. If they can’t find a coffee machine, they throw empty mugs at the player.
Some enemy concepts- Keyboard Warrior (swings mouse like a mace, uses keyboard like a shield… shield is broken when all keys are broken off) HR Supervisor (sets sticky note citation traps around map, gives buffs to other workers) Intern (runs the “Greg” coffee power ups to all worker types for momentary boost… could just make Greg into the intern since he is over worked) Janitor (collects the debris around the room then uses it as ammunition from their vacuum gun) Receptionist (can use sonic blast from telephone to make action move slower while boring song plays) Executive (health bar is indicated by a total of cash which decreases as the furniture is destroyed-but increases as enemy workers are destroyed-has the ability to spawn in reinforcements at a cost to its health but has no other attack) Bob in this conception could be a warehouse worker or a standard button pusher whose anger is a result of realizing nothing he does matters Steve seems like a mechanic or maintenance person since he can use so many things to his advantage but could also just be a mirror version of the player character who is in denial about working this dull job at Death Inc. The player character in this ethos would be trying to break out of the constraints of the dystopian late stage capitalist machine that many people today find themselves in but any additional lore or justification in the world building can still fit with that as set dressing. When enemies are defeated maybe they are instead recruited or rescued as opposed to killed. This would be like deprogramming exploited workers to understand their situation then. My bad for the long post but hope any of this is helpful. :)
Incredible devlog as always! Glad to see how's the game going. As a game developer, I can see you put a lot(like a lot) of effort in the game and it's animations(what i most liked about it)
The Computer guy: the computer guy would be found at his computer desk with a “cone” of vision in front of him. Upon entering this comb he would chuck a wire at you acting like a sort of sentry.
Candidate 1: Tech support guy This enemy does not attack but rather stuns. He uses wires to either lasso or zap the main character (you choose which). Candidate 2: Janitor Another enemy that stuns but doesn’t do it directly. He occasionally mops tiles on the ground and makes it slippery. Candidate 3: document guy This enemy is carrying a large pile of documents and files. He somehow uses these as weapons, perhaps he crushes the player but I’m not sure. He also needs to refill after at a printer.
Death Inc. is already the name of the corporation that appears in the game "Have a Nice Death", so I don't know if you can name the game that. But anyway, it's a really cool idea and your pixelarts look great, as a rougelike fan I'd love to buy the game if it's available on Steam. Here are some ideas for enemies and weapons: David - David is an IT worker, therefore he has a lot of knowledge about how electrical devices work. And using this knowledge, he can both repair, for example, damaged printers (and other furniture), and change their software so that they work differently. He wouldn't directly attack the player himself, but he could run to printers, computers, etc. and make printers shoot paper at him, computers display Blue Screen Of Death and explode, and if the player has already destroyed a piece of furniture, he runs to it and fixes it. He can be compared to Summoners from fantasy games, "summoning" his army to attack the player Alice - Alice is the secretary and shouldn't necessarily be an opponent, she might be at the elevators to the next floors somehow and upon reaching her, she calls the manager/boss from the next floor and arranges a meeting for the player, then opens access to the elevator. She could also possibly be a trader so you can spend points earned from defeating enemies on that floor, e.g. health replenishment or upgrades Coffee Gun - The player could use it to shoot coffee at enemies, and if they drink too much coffee, they have too much energy and can't focus, making their attacks less accurate and doing less damage
A cool Idea for an enemy would be a nerdy office worker at their desk who you have to avoid and if you interrupt them they get up and fire a powerful attack at you so you have to avoid him. I call him. Curt
Three new enemy ideas: The hurler or «Jim ». He carries a big suitcase around which he hurls at the player. The suitcase serves as a grenade, doing damage and shooting objects around it on impact. He needs to go to a desk to recharge. The grappler, or « Jerry ». His idle is a busy person on the phone. When he sees you, he throws the phone, which is still connected to him via a cord, and uses said cord to reel you in. He then punches you in the face. The « sloppy joe ». A man who was too scared to call in sick, his face is all green. He throws up leaving a puddle that poisons you and sticks you into place. He can harm you directly if he throws up on you.(if that’s too gross it can be replaced with tears of sad guy). Bonus: printer robot miniboss: once activated, it tries to deal melee damage with its arms. It shoots papier from afar and occasionally throws ink cartridge grenades at you.
Love the concepts in this video! Making an office-themed game is on my bucket list lol, Wouldn't it go well with RPG concepts. "Ah yea time to go up a floor so I can beat the literal boss"
You could make Boss Man. As he watches the player destroying the office instead of working, he gets more and more annoyed and begins trying to hit you with a [FIRED] stamp. As you avoid him he sends his secretaries to smack you upside the head with whatever binder or files they have in there hand.
Amazing animations in this video, and the game looks great so far. Maybe you could add the Manager. It would make all other enemies stronger and faster and could be a boss?
I would highly recommend replacing the Zs with a snot bubble. Whenever he's asleep, it inflates and deflates with his breathing. When the timer runs out, the bubble bursts and he wakes up. It also adds a reason for his sudden awakening and a clearer telegraph to the player
ENEMY IDEA : paper worker. Or let’s just call him Ted. So Ted slowly wanders around the office carrying a giant stack of papers. There’s two options on how you could make him work. 1: you shoot him once and he drops all his papers all at once in a giant pile. The papers damage you while they fall. Then he proceeds to get angry and chase you. 2: every shot you land on him one paper falls off the pile, flying through the air and yet again damaging the player if it makes contact with you. Once you clear out his entire pile he will get mad and chase you just like last time. That’s my proposition. :/
In my opinion an intersting idea could be that, to go to the next level the player have to find a key (like a badge) to unlock the elevator. In this way the gameplay is not only shooting but also an active research through the numerous rooms in a floor. Using different ways to find the key (kill a certain enemy or a boss, search through desks maybe destroying them and so on) you can add lots of content and possibilities to the game. Anyway i’m enjoying these devlogs a lot. Good work :)
oke so... make the player have a book shelf on its back when the book is being held that way the player can reload by grabing a book. you could also unlock the book by picking up a book shelf and might even get an achievement called: steve.(something like that)
OMG I actually thought you has given up on the game but you came back!!! Love your videos and how the game is coming out so far, keep up the great work!
Enemy idea: Clara, the General Manager. A peppy individual who inspires everyone around her to work their absolute hardest, but despises confrontation. My thought is that she'd give a buff to the movement and attack speeds of a random enemy in the room. If the player approaches her, she'll attempt to flee, breaking the buff. Once she's a good distance away from the player, she'll reapply the buff. If she is the last enemy alive in a room, she'll sit on the ground and cry, running if the player gets close. The player can progress to the next room (or kill her if they're a heartless bastard [maybe that could be a secret achievement])
Theory: The Player, Steve, and Greg are all manchildren roleplaying at work while the only serious guy, Bob, is sick of their shenanigans and just wants to work.
Amazing job! Both on the game and on the dev log. The enemies look really cool and I’m sure they would add a lot of depth to the game. I also liked that you showed trade offs (with Steve’s animation) and explained why you took those decisions. Can’t wait to see your progress👏🏻
people already suggested using different colors for each enemy to better identify them, but i got another idea what about all the enemies all looking bland and standard until they spot a player Bob would suddenly become much larger and his get comically large fists and Gregs would straight up transform in ghoul-like creatures
I thought this was super awesome and I love to see the progress that you continue to make! The only enemy idea I could think of is some guy on a spiny chair that scoots towards you. Can probably be made cooler in some way.
the productive one(also known as jack.) he always keep the business productive. when you destroy a table with a monitor or get near him, jack will chase you. he has a dash jump move for every 5 seconds. his weakness is that when he sees another table with a monitor, he will stop chasing you and go to the table
Character idea: A worker named Juan that works at a cafeteria that you can go to buy food with money you stole from the other workers and regenerate your health with that food. Food ideas: Cupcake Hamburger A water bottle Edible paper A happy meal
Miniboss idea: A receptionist enemy that will call for backup when the player is spotted (more enemies will just appear at a door/entrance) and the receptionist will also, when the backup is defeated, use a 'gun' to fight the player
Here's an idea for an enemy that specifically is meant to synergize with greg: the dude that brought donuts to work. perhaps he has a radius around him that causes greg to stay in awake mode when he's nearby, seeing as he's fueled by the generosity and sugar of donut dude's offerings.
You could make the water dispensers incur an area of effect when destroyed, slowing, damaging, stunning, etc. enemies or the player themself. Even better, make steve’s water shooter bullets incur these effects too
I think it might be a good comedic effect of Greg's Zs were coffee cups, and he just grabs one with full force, chugs it, smashes it on the ground purposefully (also with full force), and he starts running at the player, also might be good to add some kind of eye flashing effect or something to make it more clear to the player that Greg is now awake
Team support - mini boss. Can summon 1-3 of the already made enemies for an attack, can also attack with a shockwave from slamming a clipboard down. Can throw said clipboard as a boomerang kinda thing. Also can use a printer as a gun. A tiny bit smaller than bob.
Enemy 1: *Harry* Harry will calmly walk around the office. When the player comes near him, he opens his suitcase and pulls different small objects out that he either throws, shoots, or punch you with. Enemy 2: *Berry* Berry got tied to his chair by his coworkers, he will stay at his desk and occasionally tries to drake himself free, if you get to close he will notice you and use his chair to dash at you. Enemy 3: Lisa Lisa is a female coworker who will slowly wander around. She will scream loudly if you get in her range. This will get the attention of other enemies. After this she will act the same as Steve, but with health.
A couple of enemies I could think of is one that alerts nearby enemies to come to where you are, think his name could be ben. Another one could be one that once spots you, they run away and periodically toss pens, scissors and other stuff at you
Here's some ideas for enemies: A manager type character or assistant that can spawn rarely, he will shout and throw down his clipboard which will send all other enemies in the room into a frenzy making them faster and stronger but with less health, like their boss is forcing them to overwork another could be a janitor who can create puddles that cause the character to slip if stepped on, stunning them for a short while. Maybe an IT guy that can "Hack" supplies and make them attack you A market manager who throws arrows at you that can give you debuffs and damage you and can buff surrounding enemies maybe have some security guards with tasers of some sort for longer ranged enemies
small ideas for changes to greg: - when he finishes drinking the coffee, instead of throwing the cup at the ground he could throw it at the player before chasing them. - while chasing the player, he could rapidly slow down at the end of the chase instead of freezing in place for more of that "rush wearing off" feeling. Idea for an enemy type: a non-locking charge character that starts an animation before rushing with some kind of object out like a shield in the direction of the player. This enemy wouldn't be able to turn while charging so the player could side step them like a bull to land some easy shots to their back. (the enemy could also take a moment to steady themselves before readying for another attack to give the player time to actually land said shots.)
it definitely feels like he's not drinking the coffee, just dropping it. a little animation where he tilts his head back a lot and chugs it before he stands up straight would help
Had a thought for a Janitor/Custodian type enemy that runs between destroyed objects to clean them up, and will chase the player if they are within a certain range. Could introduce some interesting movement choices like going around to avoid the enemy versus through their area
Object breaker (Also known as “Crackhead Earl”). Earl was Steve’s rowdier, more unhinged brother. He has less health but when he locates a object, he’ll go faster and crash through objects and enemies to grab it. Also he uses the objects in his own way..example, “slip n side” instead of using it as a gun he’ll slide on the water jug and rocket at you like a bullet bill, but it’s a one time use and he’ll have to grab another object to use it, infact most of Earls attacks are more chaotic and powerful, but are a one time use. He’ll probably be in higher levels of the building.
Object chaser ideas: Printer = start throwing ink cartridges like grenades. Desk = grab anything in the drawers or on top of the desk and throw them. Chair = pick it up and begin chasing the player, trying to hit it over their head. It would also be cool if whatever the Object Chaser gets can run out of "ammo" making it so they have to to grab a new object.
ideas for ranged and melee: desk lamp: A mecha arm you can attach to your back that can falcon punch enemies and hold guns pinboard: A pinboard that shoots pin when you slam it to the ground pot hammer: A cactus, on a pot, on a stick, that you can swing like a hammer scissors sword: Self-explanitory magnifying glass: A magnifying glass, that set objects aflame when set alight. Works best with desk lamp
The sneak: basically that one guy that steals all of your pens and other stuff while you’re not looking. This guy sneaks up on you while you’re distracted fighting other enemies an snatches one of your weapons that you aren’t using (if you have any, otherwise he just punches you). Then he runs away super fast and uses that weapon against you.
One enemy idea I have is a evil coffee machine that can tie in with Steve's use of in game obstacles as weapons, that way you have to decide to either destroy the obstacles so Steve will be semi-passive and risk a evil coffee machine completely wrecking havoc on you or let Steve be harmful to not risk a stressful encounter. I think that this enemy would help in terms of identification as currently your characters look similar to each-other whereas with the edition of more unique characters it could be much easier to identify them and read the room quickly, like I think is usually required in a Roguelike. I think the coffee machine would be somewhat hard to trigger (4-7% per coffee machine/obstacle broken) but would make up for it in sheer strength and ability to, whether it be leaving a trail of sticky and slowing coffee residue, or supplying Greg with some coffee to make him more dangerous. I also think it'd be quite funny if a coffee machine killed you, and would supply a very funny reaction from players and streamers alike.
What about this enemy idea ? Fab is a pretty clumsy guy, who screws up whatever he touches. For instance, screwed printers become mines when the player passes nearby, and screwed water dispensers propulse Steve back when he uses them (there would be an indicator for broken objects). Fab doesn't chase the player because he cant' see him, he forgot his glasses at home this morning :) he just works as if everything was normal
idea for steve when he choose a photocopier, he rips of the top of it, then he would run between you and another enemy and then freeze on that spot opens up the photocopier and uses it as a shield, and then after a few second lower it, then only if you hit him shoots photo copies of the bullets back at you (exp. if you hit the photocopier 4 times with staples it will shoot 4 pieces of paper with a image of staple back at you) then moves to a new spot.
For the sleepy enemy maybe he should be sleep walking towards the player constantly, takes his sip then goes really fast towards the player but just in a straight line. Could also have tricking him into running into a wall as a way of stunning him.
What about a literal BOSS battle, where you fights the boss, who has a stamp that says “FIRED” on it, and he slams it down to create a shockwave the player jumps over
I have a enemy idea! His name is Alan. Alan always had a knack for making things out of every day objects, which is why he wanted to become an engineer! Unfortunately he wasn't able to get a proper degree which landed him in the office. Alan will stay at the edge of your screen, shooting you with his pencil crossbow. A target will appear on your character when he is about to shoot.
For a couple enemy ideas, what about an old lady whom moves incredibly slowly and thus is easy to shoot, but throws photos of her grandchildren or cat at the player from a distance, acting as a barely-mobile turret. As a bonus to make her more interesting, perhaps when you get hit by the photos you don't take much damage but a cheesy photo blocks part of the screen before fading out over several seconds, like the Blooper from Mario Kart. There could be a guy whom thinks he's the funniest guy in the office and forwards memes to you. In addition to sending parodies of old ~2010 memes like waffle cat and ogreface, when hit by any projectile he'll pause and forward it to everyone, sending out a random burst of projectiles in straight lines that can hit both friend and foe. An intern whom mostly cowers and flees from a certain radius of the player, but if hit with a stray projectile will get furious and start running at the player, swinging fists and throwing ballpoint pens. Finally, a single parent whom slowly moves around, clearly very sleep deprived. Their kids, however, orbit her and will occasionally sprint out to attack nearby objects, npcs, and the player before running back to their parent. As a potential variant, the kids could be on leashes and only be able to sprint a couple tiles away max before being yanked back, foiling their attack. Naturally, hitting the parent, the children, or the leash will break it and the child will consistently pursue the player without returning to their parent.
Enemy suggestion: slacker. Lays around at a desk/water cooler (anywhere you find fitting) and doesn’t do anything until you (or another enemy) enter his set radius. After that, he starts shooting at you half-heartedly with a ballpoint pen that fires orbs. He does this until you either kill him or there is nobody in his radius. Also, if you leave him for last, you can clear the room without killing him.
Ideas for the other object guy forms: he grabs paper from the copier and makes a paper sword that makes slash marks at a mid range. He could also flip the desk and use it as a shield, kinda like a tank enemy, he blocks the character and his rolls, takes more hits, and has an attack where he drops the desk on the player and takes a few seconds to pick it up again, this attack does large damage. Also making the weapons have a durability would be cool, so when one breaks he panics and runs for another object.
"Grenade" concepts: CDs/Floppy disks: Instantly thrown, upon hitting an enemy it will "ricochet" into another enemy multiple times. Cup of hot water: Instantly thrown, enemies (except bob) caught in its radius will stop pursuing the player and run around trying to dry themselves. Battery n' lighter: Takes 2 seconds for the player to take an open lighter onto a battery, and explodes like a typical grenade. Pager: Takes the player 3 seconds to call the pager, when thrown it will attract enemies to it for easy kills, enemies will return to attacking the player after checking the pager. Super glue: Instantly thrown, will stick enemies caught in its radius for 5 seconds
I think you should change steve's shooting animation with the water cooler to be him squeezing it, therefore water squirts out. I also think it'd be cool for the water cooler to eventually run out of water, in which steve would drop it and find another object. If all that is too hard to do, I understand. Keep going with these great devlogs man! super entertaining 👍
Enemy suggestions: What about a "office joker" who throws like paper planes or something and at higher levels, gets more range/speed or a better projectile? Perhaps coffee mugs or the pencil rockets from before? Or one who throws like those yellow sticky notes, and uses them as traps to stick you in place for a few seconds. Last one could be idk steve getting hold of a load of floppy disks or something and they bounce off of walls and whatnot when thrown. Item suggestions: a roomba thing that picks up papers and other things from the floor and returns them to you as ammo? a scanner that lets you use an enemy's weapon for a duration? giant paper clips/thumbtacks to pin enemies to each other, or walls? a notice board that makes enemies ignore you so they can read it for a short time? a paperweight that stuns a single enemy so you can focus on others temporarily? a computer mouse that lets you click and drag enemies to throw them into each other? Level suggestions: infinite cubicles, like the office version of the Backrooms? A break room to give you a break, and let you heal up? Perhaps it kicks you out after a timer? break up the levels into floors in an office tower that goes up literally forever? an elevator that you have to guard the doors to so your enemy coworkers can't get in with you? just any idea I could think of rn
The Janitor: Cleans up messes until he's interrupted, then beats up whoever hit with their Mop (I just imagine him being a rarer enemy and will attack other enemies should you manage to get them to hit him with an attack or certain attacks)
I have an idea! (Not an enemy, but a partner thing I guess) Charlie She’s one of those kids and you decided to bring her to work. She jumps on top of enemy’s heads and of course, the enemies just run around trying to get Charlie off of their face. After that, you need to find a toy around the office to let her play and do her thing.
An enemy named Jeff the ‘puter man goes to the nearest computer at types on it then the computer turns to a turret that fires e-mails rapidly till shot down then explodes into splash damage. I hope this idea is helpful
I suggest Greg having a more noticeable animation for drinking coffee; like maybe pulling out a coffee jug and pouring it into his cup before drinking it; in turn the animation would be longer, but he could chase longer or more aggressively
Office clutz -Holds Coffee/Water/Spillable -When player spotted they charge -when in range they trip and spill liquid towards the player, like a creeper from Minecraft this would have an AoE effect
Enemy suggestion: juggernaut When he spawns in, a timer counts down as he hurries to finish all of his work at his desk. When the timer runs out, he gains a lot of speed and health and chases after you FAST. The idea is that you have to kill him before the timer runs out
My idea for an enemy is Markus, some guy who wields a 4-piece marker sword and has varying attacks, like a sword spin or a charge, he could even turn his blade into dual marker knives by tearing it in half. A weapon idea I have is a water gun with a bottle of glue in place of the water tank, it could be a short range weapon that would stun enemies with every clear shot.
enemy types: Janitor, rushes towards player in small bursts and does a large sweeping attack with a mop (also leaving behind a puddle for a short while that will damage the player if they enter the puddle) Tech support, is able to spawn little mini computer type turrets around the player that will shoot at him. Customer service, will chase the player throwing pieces of paper (customer complaints) HR (Human Resources), will slowly follow the player around using a variety of different attacks depending on what other enemies are nearby, (Bob then HR will do a small AOE attack, Greg, then HR will provide other enemies around the area with the same coffee effect as Greg, fast movement Weapon Ideas: Keyboard, the keyboard will be a fast firing burst weapon that shoots random letters at the player, coffee Pot, this will act as a sort of grenade launcher with the player launching lobs of fresh hot coffee that will leave a pool behind to damage enemies who step in it, Desk drawer, this will shoot out random pieces of office equipment at the enemies.
greg should walk slowly towards a coffee maker, then drink the coffee and become super fast and regen for a bit. You could even have the coffee maker give other enemies a speed boost/regen, so that you have to destroy it first in combat.
Enemy Ideas: The Mimic. Pretends to be ordinary office furniture. Occasionally opens an eye to look around. Tries to eat anyone who gets too close. This can cause friendly fire if a Steve mistakes it for a normal furniture item. The Mover. Guy in overalls with a cargo dolly moving heavy stuff around. More of an obstacle than an enemy, but he'll run you over if you get in his way. The Whiteboard Guy. Basically an enemy spawner. Hangs out near whiteboards. When he spots the player, he draws random things on the whiteboard that come alive and leave the whiteboard to attack the player. The Doomba. A little floor cleaning robot that violently explodes on contact or when shot enough times. Comes in a slow, randomly moving variant and a homing variant that actively tracks the player. Steve With Fire Extinguisher - Fires a close range AOE cloud of CO2. Steve With Trash Can - Fires a shotgun-like spread of miscellaneous garbage. Roller Chair Guy - Sits in a wheeled office chair. When hit or approached, starts careening wildly around the room at high speed, bouncing off walls and furniture. The Custodian - Wields a mop and bucket like some kind of cleaning-themed samurai. The Receptionist - Stationary until provoked. Behaves similar to a Steve by running towards furniture, but instead of equipping it they pick it up and throw it at you at high speed.
Here’s an idea the “hot coffeenade”: A piping hot coffee cup fresh from a coffee machine Lasts for 10 seconds before cooling off and becoming useless Makes a small splash radius off hot coffee which instantly dries
i saw another comment about each enemy having different color ties and i wanna add onto that: dunno how easy it is but you should add varying shades of ties to make it more interesting while keeping the enemies distinct, so bobs can have various red colored ties, steves can have various blues, and gregs can have greens

To make Greg look even more asleep you could have his head sort of hanging down, so that you don't really see his "face" but mainly his hair.
You could make a manager that acts almost like a spawner as he constantly sends out small interns to attack you but as soon as you get rid of the manager they all run away, or you could make a roomba or something.

I would suggest adding some sort of healing station or something, like a coffee machine that both you and the enemies can drink from. A nice telegraphing effect of drinking the coffee would be an exclamation mark above Gregs head, or something like that fitting the office style
Maybe the coffee could emit a plume of steam? Overdramatic, yes, but very visible

Keyboard Warrior (swings mouse like a mace, uses keyboard like a shield… shield is broken when all keys are broken off)
HR Supervisor (sets sticky note citation traps around map, gives buffs to other workers)
Intern (runs the “Greg” coffee power ups to all worker types for momentary boost… could just make Greg into the intern since he is over worked)
Janitor (collects the debris around the room then uses it as ammunition from
their vacuum gun)
Receptionist (can use sonic blast from telephone to make action move slower while boring song plays)
Executive (health bar is indicated by a total of cash which decreases as the furniture is destroyed-but increases as enemy workers are destroyed-has the ability to spawn in reinforcements at a cost to its health but has no other attack)
Bob in this conception could be a warehouse worker or a standard button pusher whose anger is a result of realizing nothing he does matters
Steve seems like a mechanic or maintenance person since he can use so many things to his advantage but could also just be a mirror version of the player character who is in denial about working this dull job at Death Inc.
I really like what you're doing with the game! Glad to see another awesome video too.
Candidate 1: Tech support guy
This enemy does not attack but rather stuns. He uses wires to either lasso or zap the main character (you choose which).
Candidate 2: Janitor
Another enemy that stuns but doesn’t do it directly. He occasionally mops tiles on the ground and makes it slippery.
Candidate 3: document guy
This enemy is carrying a large pile of documents and files.
Here are some ideas for enemies and weapons:
David - David is an IT worker, therefore he has a lot of knowledge about how electrical devices work. He can be compared to Summoners from fantasy games, "summoning" his army to attack the player
Alice - Alice is the secretary and shouldn't necessarily be an opponent, she might be at the elevators to the next floors somehow and upon reaching her, she calls the manager/boss from the next floor and arranges a meeting for the player, then opens access to the elevator. She could also possibly be a trader so you can spend points earned from defeating enemies on that floor, e.g. health replenishment or upgrades
Coffee Gun - The player could use it to shoot coffee at enemies, and if they drink too much coffee, they have too much energy and can't focus, making their attacks less accurate and doing less damage
Death Inc. is looking so good! I am excited to see what you do with it next
Yeah me to I think it looks like a great
A cool Idea for an enemy would be a nerdy office worker at their desk who you have to avoid and if you interrupt them they get up and fire a powerful attack at you so you have to avoid him. I call him. Curt
Three new enemy ideas:
The hurler or «Jim ».
Plus a regular worker with no special perks to serve as the basis for the other ones. He like shoots you or hits you or smth
Love the concepts in this video! Making an office-themed game is on my bucket list lol, Wouldn't it go well with RPG concepts. "Ah yea time to go up a floor so I can beat the literal boss"
Maybe in later stages of the game you could have The Manger, an enemy that increases the speed/attack speed of nearby employees
You could make Boss Man. As he watches the player destroying the office instead of working, he gets more and more annoyed and begins trying to hit you with a [FIRED] stamp. As you avoid him he sends his secretaries to smack you upside the head with whatever binder or files they have in there hand.
0:44 ”Bob no like new guy, Bob smash new guy.”
Nice to see you back with the devlogs!
Finally a new video! Can't wait to see the future of your channel daynum. Keep up the amazing work!
Amazing animations in this video, and the game looks great so far. Maybe you could add the Manager. It would make all other enemies stronger and faster and could be a boss?
You should make a bubble at Greg’s Nose when he sleeps, and in the coffee drinking animation, make the bubble pop
I would highly recommend replacing the Zs with a snot bubble. Whenever he's asleep, it inflates and deflates with his breathing. When the timer runs out, the bubble bursts and he wakes up. It also adds a reason for his sudden awakening and a clearer telegraph to the player
Here’s an enemy idea: a big stapler turret that shoots staples at you. Upon being hit, you become stuck temporarily and take mild damage.
Join his discord (link in description)
He gave us updates there, and occasionally worked on it on stream
That's a pretty good idea!
1:33 It's me :)
Theory: The Player, Steve, and Greg are all manchildren roleplaying at work while the only serious guy, Bob, is sick of their shenanigans and just wants to work.
Mood af
Bob is me frfr
Amazing job! Both on the game and on the dev log. The enemies look really cool and I’m sure they would add a lot of depth to the game. I also liked that you showed trade offs (with Steve’s animation) and explained why you took those decisions. Can’t wait to see your progress👏🏻
The multi-colored pen gun was designed by bobbo... wait a second... BOB?
people already suggested using different colors for each enemy to better identify them, but i got another idea
what about all the enemies all looking bland and standard until they spot a player
Bob would suddenly become much larger and his get comically large fists and Gregs would straight up transform in ghoul-like creatures
I thought this was super awesome and I love to see the progress that you continue to make! The only enemy idea I could think of is some guy on a spiny chair that scoots towards you. Can probably be made cooler in some way.
Greg needs an intimidating aura to incite absolute fear in new players.
the productive one(also known as jack.) he always keep the business productive. when you destroy a table with a monitor or get near him, jack will chase you. he has a dash jump move for every 5 seconds. his weakness is that when he sees another table with a monitor, he will stop chasing you and go to the table
Character idea: A worker named Juan that works at a cafeteria that you can go to buy food with money you stole from the other workers and regenerate your health with that food.
Food ideas:
Cupcake
Hamburger
A water bottle
Edible paper
A happy meal
Miniboss idea: A receptionist enemy that will call for backup when the player is spotted (more enemies will just appear at a door/entrance) and the receptionist will also, when the backup is defeated, use a 'gun' to fight the player
Here's an idea for an enemy that specifically is meant to synergize with greg: the dude that brought donuts to work. perhaps he has a radius around him that causes greg to stay in awake mode when he's nearby, seeing as he's fueled by the generosity and sugar of donut dude's offerings.
man if this game turns out to be a bullet hell the name "corporate hell" would fit well
Different hair cuts for the enemies would be so cool
Billy:pratically a boss version of bob
Enemy 1: *Harry*
Harry will calmly walk around the office. When the player comes near him, he opens his suitcase and pulls different small objects out that he either throws, shoots, or punch you with.
Enemy 2: *Berry*
Berry got tied to his chair by his coworkers, he will stay at his desk and occasionally tries to drake himself free, if you get to close he will notice you and use his chair to dash at you.
Enemy 3: Lisa
Lisa is a female coworker who will slowly wander around. She will scream loudly if you get in her range. This will get the attention of other enemies. After this she will act the same as Steve, but with health.
A couple of enemies I could think of is one that alerts nearby enemies to come to where you are, think his name could be ben. Another one could be one that once spots you, they run away and periodically toss pens, scissors and other stuff at you
Here's some ideas for enemies:
A manager type character or assistant that can spawn rarely, he will shout and throw down his clipboard which will send all other enemies in the room into a frenzy
making them faster and stronger but with less health, like their boss is forcing them to overwork
another could be a janitor who can create puddles that cause the character to slip if stepped on, stunning them for a short while.
Maybe an IT guy that can "Hack" supplies and make them attack you
A market manager who throws arrows at you that can give you debuffs and damage you and can buff surrounding enemies
maybe have some security guards with tasers of some sort for longer ranged enemies
The multicolor pen is awesome!
I agree!
small ideas for changes to greg:
- when he finishes drinking the coffee, instead of throwing the cup at the ground he could throw it at the player before chasing them.
- while chasing the player, he could rapidly slow down at the end of the chase instead of freezing in place for more of that "rush wearing off" feeling.
Idea for an enemy type:
a non-locking charge character that starts an animation before rushing with some kind of object out like a shield in the direction of the player.
Or maybe they leave behind a puddle and if you run over it, you slip and fall, stunning you for a short duration of time
Object breaker (Also known as “Crackhead Earl”).
Object chaser ideas:
Printer = start throwing ink cartridges like grenades.
Desk = grab anything in the drawers or on top of the desk and throw them.
Chair = pick it up and begin chasing the player, trying to hit it over their head.
It would also be cool if whatever the Object Chaser gets can run out of "ammo" making it so they have to to grab a new object.
ideas for ranged and melee:
desk lamp: A mecha arm you can attach to your back that can falcon punch enemies and hold guns
pinboard: A pinboard that shoots pin when you slam it to the ground
pot hammer: A cactus, on a pot, on a stick, that you can swing like a hammer
scissors sword: Self-explanitory
magnifying glass: A magnifying glass, that set objects aflame when set alight.
Also, if you leave him for last, you can clear the room without killing him.
edit, he could instead wander around the room instead of shooting.
I can't wait for this game to release, I really like the idea of an office rougelike
An enemy that finds the nearest computer and schedules a “Team Meeting.” Which summons a bunch of smaller enemies 😊That chase you..
Accidental emoji?
@@peypey7365 accidental emoji smh
Ideas for the other object guy forms: he grabs paper from the copier and makes a paper sword that makes slash marks at a mid range. He could also flip the desk and use it as a shield, kinda like a tank enemy, he blocks the character and his rolls, takes more hits, and has an attack where he drops the desk on the player and takes a few seconds to pick it up again, this attack does large damage. Also making the weapons have a durability would be cool, so when one breaks he panics and runs for another object.
😄Your editing has improved a lot since I last watched your videos; this is really awesome! Good luck with making the rest of your game.
Haha, thank you, I put a lot of effort in the editing of this video!
"Grenade" concepts:
CDs/Floppy disks: Instantly thrown, upon hitting an enemy it will "ricochet" into another enemy multiple times.
Super glue: Instantly thrown, will stick enemies caught in its radius for 5 seconds
super interesting devlog as usual you could add burned out ennemies that go insane when the player goes to close to them for instance
Enemy suggestions:
What about a "office joker" who throws like paper planes or something and at higher levels, gets more range/speed or a better projectile? Perhaps coffee mugs or the pencil rockets from before?
Or one who throws like those yellow sticky notes, and uses them as traps to stick you in place for a few seconds.
Last one could be idk steve getting hold of a load of floppy disks or something and they bounce off of walls and whatnot when thrown.
Item suggestions:
a roomba thing that picks up papers and other things from the floor and returns them to you as ammo?
a scanner that lets you use an enemy's weapon for a duration?
giant paper clips/thumbtacks to pin enemies to each other, or walls?
a notice board that makes enemies ignore you so they can read it for a short time?
a paperweight that stuns a single enemy so you can focus on others temporarily?
a computer mouse that lets you click and drag enemies to throw them into each other?
Level suggestions:
infinite cubicles, like the office version of the Backrooms?
A break room to give you a break, and let you heal up? Perhaps it kicks you out after a timer?
break up the levels into floors in an office tower that goes up literally forever?
an elevator that you have to guard the doors to so your enemy coworkers can't get in with you?
just any idea I could think of rn
The Chaser, Adam, who is just a small basic chasing enemy. If you get too close, he attempts to kick your knee caps.
The Janitor: Cleans up messes until he's interrupted, then beats up whoever hit with their Mop (I just imagine him being a rarer enemy and will attack other enemies should you manage to get them to hit him with an attack or certain attacks)
the quality of the video got 10x better i LOVE IT
I have an idea! (Not an enemy, but a partner thing I guess)
Charlie
She’s one of those kids and you decided to bring her to work.
Or maybe Steve can do this for the puter
I suggest Greg having a more noticeable animation for drinking coffee; like maybe pulling out a coffee jug and pouring it into his cup before drinking it; in turn the animation would be longer, but he could chase longer or more aggressively
the burnout: he's just so freaking overworked, he can barely get up to attack you! so he just shoots at you in place, basically
Phil from accounting, uses an abacus and throws its bead as little traps when stepped on
Fantastic set of enemies! I really like Steve and all the animations you added for him.
The computer guy
And the BOSS
Office clutz
-Holds Coffee/Water/Spillable
-When player spotted they charge
-when in range they trip and spill liquid towards the player, like a creeper from Minecraft this would have an AoE effect
Enemy suggestion:
juggernaut
When he spawns in, a timer counts down as he hurries to finish all of his work at his desk.
A weapon idea I have is a water gun with a bottle of glue in place of the water tank, it could be a short range weapon that would stun enemies with every clear shot.
enemy types: Janitor, rushes towards player in small bursts and does a large sweeping attack with a mop (also leaving behind a puddle for a short while that will damage the player if they enter the puddle)
Tech support, is able to spawn little mini computer type turrets around the player that will shoot at him.
Customer service, will chase the player throwing pieces of paper (customer complaints)
HR (Human Resources), will slowly follow the player around using a variety of different attacks depending on what other enemies are nearby, (Bob then HR will do a small AOE attack, Greg, then HR will provide other enemies around the area with the same coffee effect as Greg, fast movement
Weapon Ideas: Keyboard, the keyboard will be a fast firing burst weapon that shoots random letters at the player, coffee Pot, this will act as a sort of grenade launcher with the player launching lobs of fresh hot coffee that will leave a pool behind to damage enemies who step in it, Desk drawer, this will shoot out random pieces of office equipment at the enemies.
greg should walk slowly towards a coffee maker, then drink the coffee and become super fast and regen for a bit. You could even have the coffee maker give other enemies a speed boost/regen, so that you have to destroy it first in combat.
Enemy Ideas:
The Mimic.
Here’s an idea the “hot coffeenade”:
A piping hot coffee cup fresh from a coffee machine
Lasts for 10 seconds before cooling off and becoming useless
Makes a small splash radius off hot coffee which instantly dries
i saw another comment about each enemy having different color ties and i wanna add onto that: dunno how easy it is but you should add varying shades of ties to make it more interesting while keeping the enemies distinct, so bobs can have various red colored ties, steves can have various blues, and gregs can have greens
