If I had a boat, I would definitely consider getting that. It looks way better than most others I've seen. The only disadvantage I see is the plastic can't resist damage the way a metal case filter could, but I imagine that's a minor issue at best.
Great video! I installed this on my boat. I have a Mercury 115 HP 4 Stroke and it runs fine for a couple of hours. Then the engine starts starving for fuel. I disconnect the fuel water separator and connect my tank directly to the engine and it works fine again. Any idea why? Looking at the filter everything looks fine. Also.. how often should I change the filtering media?
Filter media I change once every season or 100 hrs I’d suspect one of your fuel lines is collapsing. And not the filter causing the issues. Also make sure you are using hose clamps
I can't find these anywhere online or in shops. Even Marpac marine doesn't list them. The Powerline website is worthless and hasn't been updated in a while. It was a good idea but unless it's made of high impact PVC, it seems like a time bomb waiting for the plastic to crack in the summer heat or become a molotov cocktail in the event of a crash. I think I will stick to a solid metal canister and catch basin and avoid being burned to death in a boat fire.
BUT.......using the existing metal head unit from my old racor system, theres two different size holes or fuel entry ports, big and small. (per fuel flow, how does all existing head units work with these new lower parts? I'd probably just get all new anyhow , like the SS Model and go with it.......anyone??
It may fit into your existing spin on adapter, I believe its the small one, however if your doing maintenance on your boat it won't hurt to just swap out the whole unit and know you have it all new. any air leak will cause headaches, not that it will do that if you use the existing one but I like to replace it all when I'm working on a boat.
I know this is an old comment but I have changed all three boats to this style bowl. I made this video 2/14 and today 7/5/17 I am still using the original bowl on the boat I installed in this video. It has shown no yellowing or signs of it being or becoming brittle. I change the internal filter every 6 months just out of habit but its working flawlessly
@@dfish1 that is very true in my experience with the Racor brand filter and clear bowl attachment. However I have this exact filter still going strong and as clear as the day I put it on. I may do a follow up video now that you mention it since the filter housing has withstood the test of time.
There is a misconception that the sludge/jelly substance that forms inside gas tanks and fuel tanks is algae, however algae doesn't not grow in gasoline. more so algae will need water and sunlight for the most part. and although it allows sunlight, it will not grow algae in the fuel/water filter unless you have a substantial amount of water. use Ethanol free fuel.
1000rr I have actually replaced all the filters on my boats (3boats) to these filters. They are still performing like the day I installed them and haven't yellowed like the ones found on the spin on filters with the bottom clear bowls. Also I really like the easy to change internal filter. Makes it easy and cheaper to replace.
I purchased it at Powerline Marine on 7125 W 4th Ave in Hialeah, FL 33014. Its the only place I have seen it so far. Ask for Raul and tell him Reel Tease Fishing sent you.

is there a round black seal at bottom of filter and does new repacement filter 7-6858 come with new seal installed on filter?
Yes the replacement filter will have a new seal/gasket
I have an ETEC 30 HP Evinrude. I can't see where these are listed to work with Marpac. Will It?

the plastic is crazy thick
many times plastics are stronger than metal...... crazy but true.
Amazon has them
And no corrosion

YEAH, THERES NO mention of the sizes anywhere.
So the red ring won't float in gas but does in water?
the red ring is a water indicator. you are correct. it will only float in the presence of water
So what's your final review of the filter? It seems well thought out but all that plastic worries me.

Only problem I’ve had with the clear ones is the plastic gets cloudy and you can’t see through it after time

Marine mechanic told me the clear plastic would allow sunlight to form algae. Is he correct?
