haha thanks for your comment! I thought it was fun too :)
Thank you very much for making all of comparisons in one video.. Loved it~ I'll definitely be doing this soon...
Thanks for the comment!. Glad you like it :)
Thank you so much! The baking soda in the water helped and the oil and baking soda mix got the gooey glue off! 👍👍
Hey Taiyewo, thanks for stoping by. Glad I could help you with that :)
Acetone works if you use plenty of tissue, better a rag than paper. It also removes most paints such as the manufacturing date with a light swipe. Most lids made of PP or PE can be wiped. It dissolves kitchen fat off jars that have sat exposed a long time. But do not spill it on PVC, ABS (white) or styrene (transparent bowls). I don't like WD much because it is hard wipe off completely, and as a machine oil it gets into cracks and stays (in corners under the lid maybe). Some rubbers get soft and expand after they come into contact with the oil.
Glues are not the same: some come off with cool water (around lids of coffee), but most tend not to these days. Alcohol solution is useful on ABS plastic, and works for some glues.
thanks for sharing this information :)
but it's hard to source acetone nowadays in the UK
Thanks! I've been using rubbing alcohol with some success, but WD40 definitely is working better. It takes a good amount for the really sticky labels but it saves a lot of time.
The WD40 works perfectly! Thank you for the video.
thanks for the comment Kimmi :)
Baking soda + canola oil saved my little jar! Thank you!
DOH! I keep seeing these vids and all you really need to do is fill up a bowl with very hot water add some detergent and leave the bottles/jars to soak for an hour. the label practically falls and the glue is very much weakened. Just wash off with a pad and hey presto! Good to go.
not always!
Many may be hotmelt glue; if so, just fill the jar with the hot water (not boiling, especially if plastic), then slowly peel after a couple minutes.
thanks for sharing the tip :)
Glass cleaner worked perfectly. Thank you :)
glad to help :)
Most labels usually come off by soaking it for that length of time or shorter, in just hot water, without the baking soda. And usually without leaving a glue residue. But I will try the baking soda & oil for the ones where it leaves a glue residue, thanks
thanks for your comment :) some are really hard to take the glue off .. the baking soda and oil are great for those cases :)
OmG thank you soooo muchhhhh!!!!😀😀😀
you are welcome :)
I have also found that scraping a sharp knife will remove sticky labels much easier and less messier than this! Wine bottles are the worst LOL
thanks for the tip :)
WD-40 worked well try it
TY!
What is the name of chemical tell me please ❤️
My problem is that I recently took a factory sticker off from the back of my phone, and it has left some residue. The phone has a glass back. Will it clean that up without leaving any scratches?
humm tricky question.. the mason jars were not scratched when i used the baking soda method.. but I do not know what kind of glass you have on your phone .. so I can't guarantee that will not scratch.. so maybe you could do a test in a small area first? sorry I could not be more help..
Can I do the W-D40 step on a mirror?
Hey JuanI believe so. I do not think it will cause any harm. :)
Just cover the bottle in warm water and rub it with a cloth
thanks for sharing
Leonardo DiCaprio's character in the movie, catch me if you can, could have used the info in this video and some of the comments..
I want to use mine to store food. WD40 is not a good idea!
WD40 is to be used on the outside of the container :) after the label is removed is advised to rinse the container!
Yeahhhh, WD40 washes off.........
nitro thinner
thanks for the tip :)
buddy 2 to 3 hours is not effective if you have many jars...
Use a bigger bowl!
