  • Episode 7 from the series The End Is Near? with Skip Heitzig. Watch the complete series:
    • The End Is Near?
    Last week, we considered how God tells time as we explored the detailed timetable of Israel’s future, including the prediction of the Messiah’s coming and death. Today we will consider the final period of that time clock, the seventieth week. We typically refer to it as the tribulation, a period that is given the greatest explanation in Revelation 6-19. God achieved redemption for the world by the end of the sixty-ninth week through the death of the Messiah, but the overall goal will require the seventieth.

    For years I've pondered why the prophecies cited by the Apostles from the Old Testament 'cheat' and ignore parts.
    Bible teachers I listened to skirt over this, or propose an unconvincing reason, which just added to my confusion.
    To the extent I decided to ignore anything about prophecy.
    Thank God Pastor Heitzig presents a biblically credible and coherent approach . That holds up against challenge and has biblically wide scope

    Wow, the preceding sermon, The 70 weeks of Daniel, had a lot of LIKES & Comments, then this continuation of that study, The 70th week of Daniel, only has 20 Comments & not even 1000 LIKES -- this 2 part sermon was originally released April 2023, I've watched it 11 months after the release, What Happened??? Both are just as enlightening, just as clearly explained, just as informative, just as necessary -- why did so few seek this 2nd part to watch?
    I read through all the comments of the 1st part of this 2 part sermon, there were some serious disagreements pertaining to 69th week vs. 70th week - I readily admit, it is all still beyond my complete comprehension, that is why I'm here, I want to understand, Daniel with Revelation, with Ezekiel, with Isaiah . . . etc. So much confusion & chaos - I guess Satan has been successful upon the earth amongst the masses, because I worship a God of order, not of chaos.
    I trust that God's Will will be done, His intent for a perfect & righteous world without sin & evil will come to pass, I will finally understand 'why' humanity had to experience horrific evil to appreciate holy judgement, God's Only Begotten Son, Who became flesh to live among us, died for us so that we can live, defeated death & conquered sin, ascended up to His Father in heaven, Jesus will return, He will take us to be with Him where He is, God will never forsake His promise to Abraham, He will redeem His Chosen people, Jewish Israel . . .
    I really don't care how He gets it done, I trust He will 'getterdone' already!!!
    "Come quickly, Lord Jesus!!!" AMEN.

    The entire novel dispensational system is the direct result of a misinterpretation of Daniel’s 70 week prophecy. ✔️

    If there is still one remaining "week" of 7 years, then everlasting righteousness has not yet been brought in. Sin was not atoned for? Heaven forbid! Everything at the end of Daniel 9 was completed fully! What you teach is that Jesus' work on the cross has not yet come into play! Did all he do come to naught? Basically YES if you teach that Daniel 9 is not yet complete!!!
    You CANNOT remove the last week of Daniel's 70 weeks and throw it 2000 years into the future! Jesus came and confirmed the new covenant with many! Sin was atoned for! All was completed! Daniel's 70 weeks is about the coming of their Messiah! Not some obscure antichrist person! For shame for not understanding the Scriptures and teaching false doctrine. These books of Daniel that were then closed became open with the Revelation of Jesus Christ! All has been revealed. We can understand ALL things by His Word. We are NOT waiting for some future revealing of secrets. He already told us.

      They say the He in verse 27 is the antichrist-so very sad! It’s Jesus that confirms the covenant by His death, burial, & resurrection. The entire prophecy overview is in verse 26. Jesus did all of that, not antichrist. Confirm means to make strong, to prevail, trustworthy, reliable, fulfill - that’s the NEW COVENANT! Jesus fulfilled it ALL. Satan can’t cause anything to prevail, he’s the enemy! Christ’s resurrection confirmed His redemptive work! Jesus fulfilled the OT/old covenant & prophets. This passage is about Jesus and the desolation is the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.

    Seventy weeks are determined [cut off of 2,300 prophetic days = years] upon *thy people and upon thy holy city*
    ...to finish the transgression, and
    (Jn 19:30; Col 2:13-14; Is 53:12)
    ...to make an end of sins, and
    (Jn 1:29; 1Jn 3:5; Jn 5:14; Jn 8:11; Rom 6:6-7; 1 Cor 15:3; Heb 9:26-28; Heb 10:14)
    ...to make reconciliation for iniquity, and
    (Rom 5:10; 2 Cor 5:18-19; Col 1:20-22; Eph 2:14-16)
    ...to bring in everlasting righteousness, and
    (Matt 3:15; Rom 3:21-22; Rom 8:4; 2 Cor 5:21)
    ...to seal up the vision and prophecy, and
    (Matt 3:13-17)
    ...to anoint the most Holy.
    (Jn 1:32-34; Mark 1:15; Acts 10:38; Luke 4:18; Is 61:1)
    {Daniel 9:24} < The context
    And he [the Messiah] shall confirm the covenant with many for ONE WEEK: and IN THE MIDST OF THE WEEK (the seventieth) he [Christ] SHALL CAUSE THE SACRIFICE AND THE OBLATION TO CEASE, and for the overspreading of abominations (the continued temple sacrifices, after Christ one perfect sacrifice.) he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. ("Behold your house has been left unto you desolate.")
    {Daniel 9:27}
    7 weeks + 62 weeks + *one week* = 70 weeks, to anoint the most Holy, and to seal up the vision and the prophecy.
    Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, *It was necessary* that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: (for there were three and a half years remaining grace for "thy people" of the final week.) but seeing ye put it from you, and *judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life* lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
    For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
    And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
    {Acts 13:46-48}
    To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until *the land had enjoyed her sabbaths* for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
    {2 Chronicles 36:21}
    For 490 years, equal to 70 sabbath rest for the land every seventh year, that Israel and Judah transgressed the law of God.
    This is why they received seventy years exiled in bondage in the land of Babylon.
    There was no gap in their seventy years in exil, and there is no gap in the 490 years of transgressing the law of God, and there most certainly was no gap unto the coming of the Messiah who did not come in a vacuum, but rather confirmed his covenant with many for there and a half years, and in the land of Israel's inheritance.
    The stoning of Steven is when probation closed on the covenant that God made with the their fathers, exactly three and a half years after Jesus Christ, our passover was sacrificed for us, and the gospel of the kingdom of heaven went out unto the Gentiles also.

      Mat 24:21 ISV because at that time there will be great suffering, the kind that hasn’t happened from the beginning of the world until now and certainly won’t ever happen again.

      There has been no execution of Gods judgment, nor has the test of the mark of the beast been given to all the world, neither the first resurrection of eternal life.
      And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
      But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. *This is the first resurrection*
