    I'm not sure if I'm 100% right on this, but I think I heard he started writing under Richard Bachman as a sort of experiment. He thought that his books were selling well just because they had his name on them and he wanted to sell books because he actually wanted the writing to be good. So he started writing a few as Richard Bachman and those sold well too. Sooner or later people put 2 and 2 together and discovered he was Richard Bachman. It's also kind of where he got the idea for "The Dark Half" later on. Don't quote me on that, that's just what I heard lol

      Ashley Smith Awesome! Thank you for that info. Now that you mention it...I think I read/heard that in an intro to one of Kings books.

    I loved The Shining movie....until I read the book! Now I can't watch the movie without getting upset because it is so different from the book. The book was great! I loved it!

      LOL this comment made me laugh. Totally! This happens to me with all Stephen King's movies. Almost every one of them are changed slightly. Why couldn't Kubrick keep the roque mallet? It's just as scary. It's like someone killing you with a spoon. Ya the mallet isn't sharp, but it can still do damage. AND no moving topiary bushes?!? Like that is scary to all ages lol.

    I really like these covers, but I wish they weren't mass market paperback. I've started collecting the Scribner and Gallery editions of his books, but there aren't nearly as many of them as these Hodder editions.

    I owned one or two of these editions to start with and when I saw your videos showing these editions at the beginning of the year I went a little crazy and got them all :L they were on the Amazon marketplace through prime so I got them cheap and fast! They all look sooo pretty together on my shelf! I've only managed to read 4 SK books so far this year and I'm part way through Gerald's game so hopefully I can finish before the new year!

    I recently started reading Stephen King again after a break of around 20 years. In the past couple of weeks I've read Revival, 11.22.63, The Shining and The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower). I have book The Dark Tower II booked out from the library which I'm going to read next.
    Last night, I went on a spender bender and bought about a dozen more SK novels which will mean that I've read about 50 of his books when I'm done. I bought:
    Carrie
    Cujo
    Christine
    Different Seasons
    The Regulators
    Doctor Sleep
    Under the Dome
    Hearts in Atlantis
    Full Dark, No Stars
    Bazaar of Bad Dreams
    Gonna get through the rest of the Dark Tower books when I'm done with these. Hopefully I'll have got through them by early 2019.

      Great picks! I'm currently listening to Different Seasons. The Dark Tower series is my all time favorite books written by King. I've been in the middle of book 7 for a few months now because I don't want to finish the series lol.

    ARC books are not illegal to sell but they are the most expensive book forms to get. Hold on to those. They become very rare over time. Also they are not cheap by any means.

    I'm with ya on Pet Sematary! I procrastinated reading it because it is the only movie to have given me nightmares I didn't enjoy! Just a warning....the scene with Gage (the little boy) is 10x worse and more heartbreaking in the book!!!!

    I'm definitely curious to know why Stephen King uses a pseudonym.

    • @BingeReader19
      @BingeReader19  6 років тому +1

      According to the internet, King was only able to publish one book a year because back in the day publishers felt he would over saturate the market and the consumer wouldn't buy them. King wanted to get more books published so he wrote under another name.

    • @legendaryreader39
      @legendaryreader39 6 років тому

    I received my first hodder edition today and im kind of disappointed. For some reason, even tho its clear to me now, I didnt realize how small they were. That they are actually mass market paperback sized. Im so conflicted what to do now, I LOVE the aesthetic of this collection, but oh man do I hate reading mass market books. I find them infuriating. So sad. :(

    • @BingeReader19
      @BingeReader19  6 років тому

      Churtch Pidgeon I hear you. The first one I got I was thinking “Ewww I hate mass market”, but they grew on me. The smaller ones aren’t too bad. Sorry they aren’t to your liking. They only come in mass market, I’ve never seen them in trade or hardcover, except Duma Key that one for some reason only comes in trade.

    • @churtchpidgeon8511
      @churtchpidgeon8511 6 років тому +1

      I have looked at the hardcovers, the only bad thing is it doesn't seem you get as many with hardcovers. I imagine the smaller books will be better, the first one I got was Skeleton Crew and this is a pretty thick book. I also have Bazaar of Bad Dreams on its way from the UK, im going to try and read them and see if I can get used to it. I almost feel bad reading this one, the spine is intact and I dont think that will last with a full read lol

    • @BingeReader19
      @BingeReader19  6 років тому

      Churtch Pidgeon that is very true, it probably won’t. However King is a classic and if you end up not wanting to keep it I’m sure someone else would love it. Especially since these editions aren’t “rare”, but are kind of hard to get and not printed anymore. I’m a huge fan ofKing so I don’t mind having multiple editions. Hope you like it anyways. Hugs!

    I️ love this vid because Stephen King is awesome but he considers Carrie an adult book because of the strong themes. All of his books are adult.

    You really should read the books you said you haven't gotten to yet. The "book-to-movie adaptations," the majority of them, really did not do the books justice. Not at all. You may agree with me once you begin to read them.

    I love that you're collecting his books but I really don't like this hodder edition. I think the covers are bland and uncreative. I also don't think they reflect the mood in his books. Regardless the content is what matters! Cheers

    • @BingeReader19
      @BingeReader19  5 років тому +1

      Giovanni Axcel teehee different preferences I guess 😜 I absolutely love the minimalist look of the covers only showcasing a theme. Like if you were to only use one picture to describe each book what would you choose. I love the vibrant spines. Stephen King is supposed to be this dark horror writer, but the books are playful which is the complete opposite. I find that funny and appealing 😁 cheers to you!

      @@BingeReader19 yeah it just comes down to preference. So a good example I can give you of beautiful book cover theme that is minimalist, creative, and unique to the specific book is the new dark tower 8 book box set published by Scribner. As soon as I saw this I ordered it on Amazon. If you look it up on Amazon under Galaxy books(seller) you'll see the high res pictures I uploaded in reviews. This edition is so beautiful I think you might like it. Have you read the dark tower? I'm on book 2
